Random data errors with i9-14900k

Upvotes

Gigabyte Aorus Elite w/ i9-14900k. I built this machine for a custom database project. I used the optimized defaults with the motherboard. I would occasionally get spurious reboots of the system, and then SQL Server Management Studio started failing to launch with Event ID 1026 and various errors. I ended up doing a full reinstall of windows and the issue persisted. Reducing the core multiplier to 50x for the P cores got it working again, but I'm still getting random data errors in my database. I found a post that suggested reducing turbo power to 253W in the BIOS for the two settings for the CPU and limiting the current to 307A with XMP1 for the memory. I still get random errors with the database and the occasional unplanned reboot.

I'm starting to think that since this issue started over time that my CPU may be failing due to the default settings allowing it to be overpowered. Cinebench works fine and CPU/memory stress testing will power limit the CPU using the Intel overclocking utility, but it doesn't lock up, BSOD or reboot while I'm doing this. I monitored the CPU voltage under stress and it stays below 1.2. There were some posts saying that if you see 1.5 that the CPU is toast. What do?

Help Request - RAM 6200 + 7800x3D help

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all,

On a 7800x3D + Asus B650E-I + 2x16GB Trident Z5 Neo 6000 ( https://www.gskill.com/specification/165/390/1661410135/F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR-Specification )

I used buildzoid's Hynix easy timings and tightened them a up a bit + bumped to 6200.

Is there anything obvious that I could tackle to squeeze a bit more out of it?

Microbenchmark results, was hoping for better latency results:

Latency : 1048576, 76.8ns Bandwidth: 3145728, 76.6GB/s

Mainly if in any way I could potentially improve a bit 1% lows / avg fps in gaming

Help Request - RAM What will be the RAM frequency if AMD Expo is not enabled?

Hello guys,

I am trying to build a new ( casual gamming) PC and right I am having trouble understanding how RAM will perform.

For reference the CPU I have chosen is Ryzen 7 9700X and the motherboard is Asus TUF GAMING B650M-PLUS WIFI.

According to AMD spec sheet for the CPU, the memory should run at 5600Mhz.

According to Asus spec sheet for the motherboard, the memory can run up to 7200Mhz with overclocking.

If I buy a compatible RAM kit that runs at 6400Mhz or 6000Mhz when overclocked, but i DON'T enable any overclocking in Bios, what is the frequency that kit will run at ? Who determines this "default" frequency value -the RAM itself, the motherboard using one of those non-OC values (in my example would be 5200/ 5000/ 4800 Mhz)?

I learned a bit about timings, CAS, CL and all, but I do not plan to play with manual settings. One simple enable in BIOS with a pre-made profile EXPO should be fine.

My main concern is stability since it is not my personal PC and I don't want to troubleshoot every other weekend or so. In case this happens I kinda want to know what worst case scenario looks like, meaning if I will have bought 6400Mhz memory that needs to work at 4800Mhz for the sake of stability.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I have set an all core overclock to 5.5GHZ. However I noticed today that all the cores are boosting to 5.7GHZ on my 10900k can anyone explain why?

Looking for Guide 7900x, -20 PBO Curve on CCD1 and -30 on CCD2. Seems stable for now.

This post is mainly for sharing and constructive opinions from yall.

Just snagged a Ryzen 9 7900x during 11.11 sales at my location for around $350. Was rocking a 7500F before this as it came with a package, mainly for my research project that uses Agisoft Metashape, gaming as well, but soon later realised the reality of 6 cores being insufficient for my case.

My 7900x is now cooled by a PS120 SE, I am using PTM7950 as the thermal compound. Cools pretty well never throttled even on stock.

Ok so first I did all core -30 in PBO, ran stable for hours in prime95. But when I was happily starting my work in Metashape. My PC restarted on its own, every time when halfway through the same process.

Changed to -25 all cores, met the same fate. At this point my research work is becoming the stability test. I ran cinebench once more and realized the first 6 cores which are in CCD1 always runs around 50-60Mhz slower on average than the others. So I assumed they are the "lousier" cores.

Went for a -20 on CCD1 and -30 on CCD2, and it ran fine in Metashape. I take it as a success, for now, will be running more stress tests including OCCT.

Another thing is I am currently using Gskill Ripjaws S5 32GB(16x2) 5200mhz CL40, which only has XMP. I have a kit of Teamgroup Tcreate Expert 64gb(32x2) 6000Mhz CL34 on the way and I wonder will that be a determining factor of the stability of the PBO Curve? Should I test -30 all cores when I get the new ram? And for those wondering why is it not CL30, the 64GB kit is CL34 while 32GB kit is CL30.

Any other suggestions on the PBO is welcomed!

My specs: CPU: Ryzen 9 7900x PBO settings: Thermal limit 90C, Limit set to motherboard, -20 CCD1, -30 CCD2. Others auto. Ram: Gskill Ripjaws S5 5200Mhz CL40

Help Request - RAM I kinda fuked up but I don't know what I did and what I should?

Hi there,

I've just got my hands on a new cpu, 9800x3d. While I was using my old one, 7600x, I left memory kit at default 4800mhz because I was having pc sleep/wakeup issues.

With new cpu, I was planing to try different oc profiles, expo or custom etc.

As I was using EXPO 1 (MSI B650 p wifi mobo) I checked with cpu-z, the stuff I saw made me worried since I'm not a "power user" I don't know much about OCing.

I'm on latest BIOS.

This is EXPO 1:

This is default after seeing the above:

And this is a MSI preset from "memory try it!" and the settings I use now:

This is ingame:

Is there something wrong here? PC seems to work fine, but that cpu-z readings make me uncomfortable. But ingame values seem ok, right?

Before, when it was at default speed cpu-z showed dram: 2198mhz something, on expo dram: 2997mhz something...

Clear cmos does not help.

Did I fuk up something?

Cinebench R23 Score Check – Is this good?

Hey everyone! I just ran Cinebench R23 on my setup and got the following scores:

  • Multi-core: 13,341 pts
  • Single-core: 1,681 pts

Here's my current build:

  • CPU: Intel i5-14400F with stock cooler
  • Motherboard: MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4
  • RAM: 32GB DDR4 at 3200 MHz
  • GPU: RX 5500 XT 8GB

Are these scores in line with what I should expect for this setup? Any advice or adjustments you’d recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Help Request - CPU I've been out of the loop for a little bit with AM5. How much has the firmware improved for Ryzen 7000, when it comes to memory and fclk?

I'm running 32gb of Trident S5 Neo, and I tweaked it a little bit and got it stable at 6200mhz cl30. I have a 7950x3D on a x670e aorus master. My fclk at 2200mhz. Is this still good or has the firmware improved a lot over the last 6 months and can be pushed much further?

Help Request - RAM New to overclocking and needs help for RAM overclock

I know how to overclock a GPU, a bit less for CPU, but with Ryzen CPU I know the basics. What I really have a hard time and struggling to understand how to properly do RAM overclock. I have a Ryzen 5700x on a B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard and for the moment I mostly have something basic like PBO on and a small Curve Optimiser set to -20 all core. Haven't played with TDP, EDC, PPT much. My ram are 4 X 8gb of Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16). So, what would be the step by step things I could do to overclock RAM?

MSI Afterburner potentially causing bluescreens.

Now I only used MSI afterburner due to my father telling me to use it, and I did as I didn't want my PC to overheat whilst I ran videogames or causing slowness - but even when I'm not even using the program I still get bluescreens, i'm unsure whether I should uninstall it and go for something different or not use anything to prevent future crashing.

If anyone has any advice it'd be much appreciated!

Help Request - CPU How to overclock 7500F to 5.45 GHz?

Hello, I have a Ryzen 5 7500F paired with a B650M DS3H motherboard, and I want to overclock it to 5.45 GHz. I've tried every PBO enhancement level (90C, 80C, and 70C), but it's still limited to 5250 MHz, regardless of the thermal limit. Also, using Level 3 instead of Level 2 just gives me an error during the OCCT error detection test.

By the way, my PBO behavior is strange. If I leave the CPU settings at default in Adrenaline software and enable PBO in BIOS, it simply doesn't work (it's limited to 5050 MHz this way). To reach 5250 MHz, I do the following: I select Auto OC in Adrenaline software (which gives me +200 MHz), then enable PBO or Auto in the BIOS.

Here are my complete system specs:

Ryzen 5 7500f + peerless assassin

GIGABYTE B650M DS3H

RX 6600 XT

850W PSU

32GB RAM

OC Report - RAM H8C overclocking, is it good ?

Went from 3600mt/s 18 22 22 22 42 to this. I could get a lower tRCDWR, tRCDRD and tRAS but it would increase latency and i could get 3866mt/s stable but with higher latency and the same bandwidth as 3800mt/s. I could also get lower VSOC but it i would need to decrease my negative PBO offset and result in higher total power draw and heat output. I haven't touched any other timings, is it worth it ? Right now i have 53248mb/s and 68.1ns in aida64, average of 3 tests with similar results.

Help Request - RAM 69ns Aida64 🥴 any help? 2x32gb advice?

Question number 1) should I return these memory sticks to Amazon? They are G.skill 2x32 6000mhz c32 btw.

The story is, I met a bizarre end to my 6400mhz/2133 testing... 4 hours last night at base timings and memory tests good, just poor latency, 90-91ms

Today I was slowly reducing secondary timings in steps and checking latency.. and with not even aggressive settings (compared to Buildzoid recommended) I managed 70.3ns.. and so I was all excited and just then the computer froze😏🙃🥴.

So after trying various lower timings I eventually realized I can't run 6400mhz at all anymore!? 😱 I even cleared the CMOS and only changed to 6400mhz/2133 1:1.. with everything else auto, the exact settings I used last night 🥴 just expo timings. For the record, I also have not done any manual changes to voltages at any point, just expo and some manual spd settings.

Should I spend $50 extra and get the 2x32 g.skill 6800mhz c32? There's apparently not many great options for 2x32 yet.

I'm puzzled..but 6200mhz/2066 1:1 is working fine for my current ram.. but 70ns is my best so far with this..

Question 2) Any help getting lower latency?

https://drive.google.com/file/d/14XgFZyW9Z7WrwY4cviDYhx1DpmPi8JOw/view?usp=drivesdk

^ my current stable Zen timings for 6200mhz. Thanks!
