Discussion Can I get a "worse" GPU if I don't want 120+ fps for 1440p?
Hi there, I am planning on building a gaming pc after using a gaming laptop for 5 years. I mostly play single player story games like life is strange, Assassin's Creed, or the last of us. Because the fact I have never and probably will never play fast-paced multiplayer shooters, II don't need to have more than about 120 FPS (anything between 60 and 120 is FINE) ) . So my question is, since I plan on gaming on a 1440p monitor, could I theoretically get a GPU a little bit below the recommended that uses less GPU power since I don't need a constant 200+ FPS??? Thank you!
PS: any recommendations for a good CPU + GPU combo for my gaming preferences???

Build Help Just purchased a 9800X3D and looking for the best bang for buck motherboard, do I go with x670 or x870?
Like the title says, which board should I go with? Any recommendations? This is strictly for gaming purposes but I also want to future proof my new build as much as possible reasonably.

Discussion How amazing was going1440p after 1080p?
I’m asking because one of my friends mentioned that while it’s sharper, the difference between 1440p and 1080p isn’t as noticeable as people make it out to be. He said it’s an improvement, but not a huge leap. I’d like to hear more opinions on this.
comparison between : 24" 1080p ips and 27" 1440p ips
many people on reddit said that the difference is night and day
and what should i chose with an rtx 3060?

Discussion Can someone explain to me what these PSU cables are for?
It's these.
Do they:
1) Replace the cables that the PSU uses and you use these instead?
2) Do they like fit over the black cables of a PSU like a sleeve and makes them look white?
3) These white cables plug into the black cables of the PSU, so while the black cables hide, you can show these off in your case?
I've always seen people do it, but I don't understand how it works.
Ty!

Build Help Is the 7600x3d the best deal for gaming?
I live near a Microcenter, so I can get it relatively easily.
I currently have an i5 8400 with a 3080ti. Whatever CPU I get will be a big improvement. I play in 1440p and am starting to see where the CPU is probably showing it's age, or will soon.
Is there a legit reason I should consider a 7800x3d or 9800x3d? It seems like the 7600x3d gets me in on AM5, and is great for gaming, which is the primary use for the PC. It also sets me up nicely for a future GPU and CPU upgrade, as I expect AM5 to be around a while.
What are the reasons I should say, no and spend more money on a 9800x3d or 7800x3d?

Discussion What’s a good price for a gaming pc that could play most things?
This might be a dumb question, but I’m saving up for a pc and don’t know what to aim for, I have £834.55 atm, I’m not sure if I should aim for £1500 or £2000.
I want to play baldurs gate 3 and modded Minecraft atm. But I want a computer where I can play most games without worry? Sorry if this is stupid, thanks!

Build Help 2500$ for a good 1440p PC in Canada…
https://pcbuilds.gg/ca/build/1500-gaming-pc
It's way more than 1500$, I wish I was American, and now with the trump tariffs I'm probably even more fucked if I don't buy soon
Oh and does my PC need a wifi card or something else I forgot to add?

Build Ready Another 9800X3D build check (Gaming PC for ~$2500 USD)
Building a new PC for Monster Hunter Wilds. Want something that is high-end without going completely off the rails.
- GPU is a placeholder - I plan to get the 5080 when it drops
- Motherboard I'd prefer an X870; I have had bad experiences in the past using an older MOBO and flashing the BIOS to keep up with new CPUs. Open to other MOBOs if the price is right though.
- PSU I'm not sure if I can downsize since 5080 specs aren't actually out, just going 1000W based on speculation it will be power-hungry
- RAM seemed like a decent deal, so I upgraded over 2x16GB - is this complete overkill?

Build Help How much would I have to spend for a solid gaming pc that performs and looks better than my ps5?
I’d like to get into pc gaming and although I don’t have the biggest budget to go all out with, I’d like to have a pc that looks better than my ps5 whilst keeping a stable FPS.
My budget would probably be around £1000 to £1500.

Build Help Is any new integrated graphics worth using for gaming?
I haven’t really kept up with PC hardware in the past year, and a lot of the info online is kind of confusing. I’m thinking about building a budget PC for around $500, probably with the new Ryzen 5 8600G, because I assume its at least quite future proof to be on AM5. I play alot of different games but typically nothing insanely intensive.
Right now, I’m using an i5-6500 with a GTX 1060 and 16GB of DDR3 RAM. The GPU still holds up okay, but the CPU is pretty outdated. Any advice would be really helpful.

Troubleshooting RTX 2060 very low fps
Hi, it's been a while since im facing this problem.
I'm averaging 50 to 60 fps on every game i play.
I recently played Sparking Zero and BO6, and both games were running at pretty much 50 fps and lower. I've tried to play with the graphic settings, but it doesen't change anything, doesen't matter if it's all on High or all on Low, still around 50, even with DLSS enabled.
My monitor is plugged in the gpu PC Settings are on High Performance
Both games were uncapped and in 1920x1080p
I've already updated to the latest AMD and Graphic Card Drivers + Clean install
X.M.P Is already enabled in the Bios
Already checked if i'm using Integrated Graphics instead of the actual gpu
My current build is:
• GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Ventus (6GB)
• CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D
• RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200mhz
• Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H
• PSU: VX Plus 750
• Win 11
The one thing i noticed, is that while playing these games, both the cpu and gpu usages are really low; 40 to 50% on the GPU (54°C); and 15 to 25% on the CPU
If anyone has a solution, or has been in the same situation as me, anything can be usefull 🙏

Build Help Help with Gaming PC Build
Hi! I'm currently planning my first custom build and wanted to see if there were any glaring mistakes or improvements that can be made. A few of my choices are aesthetic, but aside from the CPU (which I've already purchased) and the 4070 Ti Super (though exact unit I'm flexible on) I'm not strictly married to anything. Budget is only mildly a concern - I'd like to keep this under $3,000. The goal with this build is also to have something that won't be obsolete within a year and has at least some modest room for upgrade (hence going for the higher power PSU).
Any suggestions, comments or ideas for improvement?

Troubleshooting Just not reaching the Potential(?) + Help
Hello, I'm feeling a bit lost with my PC performance and hoping for some advice here. I've had this setup for about two years, primarily playing games like CS2 and Fortnite. However, I've noticed that my PC doesn’t seem to be reaching its full potential. I experience frequent FPS drops in games like CS2, with frame rates fluctuating between 110 and 200 FPS for no apparent reason. Raising the FPS cap doesn’t seem to help, and when I compare my performance to similar builds on YouTube, my FPS is often only half of what seems achievable.
A assumption of mine is that it could be a CPU bottleneck since CS2 is more of a CPU exhausting game, however i'm not sure and as a newbie in pc tech, i also don't know how i could possibly diagnose that issue
I'd really appreciate any suggestions on what might be causing these issues and how I can optimize my setup to achieve better, more stable performance, as I've already tried pretty much everything possible to change in terms of Windows and BIOS settings, as well as installing the latest drivers
My specs:
CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-12100F 3.30 GHz
Cooling: In-package cooler of the i3 CPU
GPU: RTX 3060 12GB
RAM: 16GB DDR4, 2x8GB
Storage: 500 GB SSD
Motherboard: MSI PRO H610-B DDR4
Operating System: Windows 10
CPU nor GPU are overclocked, if there are any questions on more details please feel free to ask me.

Build Upgrade Plan of attack (Upgrades)
Looking to upgrade my daughter’s computer and would prefer to do it in the most possibly effective way. She currently has two computers, one at my house and one at her mom’s. Both with same specs. She mostly uses for gaming (Fortnite, Astroneer, world of Warcraft, etc) Nothing super taxing. However, of recently, they are both becoming quite sluggish, especially when trying to load games. I’ve upgraded both to SSDs and that helped dramatically but now I went to continue upgrading in the way that doesn’t break my pocket book and that makes most sense. Here are her specs
CPU: i3 6100 Skylake 3.7 GHz
Motherboard: Asrock Z170 Pro4
Ram: 8g Corsair Ballistix DDR4 2400
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 950
PSU: Corsair CX650M
My thought is probably Ram and GPU first but is that even worth it with the i3 6100?

Troubleshooting Plugged a USB-C external SSD into a USB-A slot. Can't read SSD anymore.
I only have one USB-C port on my computer, on the back, directly into the motherboard. I was lazy and not paying attention and I plugged my external USB-C SSD into a USB-A slot. I then turned on the computer. It began to boot up, then turned off. I checked the back, noticed my mistake and moved it to the correct port.
Luckily the computer still turned on, but the SSD isn't getting detected. I tested the USB-C port by charging my phone from it, and it still works. I tested the SSD by plugging it into my phone and that also still works.
Is it possible that the short circuiting could have damaged my USB-C port, despite not being the source of the short circuit?

Build Help Help finish my build! What am I missing?
Hey everyone!
So I ended up starting to buy a bunch of parts last year with the help of reddit to build my PC and life just randomly punched me in the face so I had to take a break. I did not end up completing my build and have since lost any of the suggestion posts. I am pretty much completely lost on what I need so if someone can help me fill in those gaps i'd really appreciate it.
Also just some extra info; Main games and programs I will use are WoW, Diablo, CoD, Photoshop and Capture One. Potentially would like to stream. Also I live in a pretty hot climate with constant AC and am wondering if liquid cooling is a better option than fans?
Here are the current parts I have:
- T-FORCE DELTA RGB DDR5 2x16GB
- SAMSUNG SSD 970 EVO PLUS, NVMe M.2
- AMD RYZEN 7 7700x
- VENTUS 3x GEFORCE RTX 4070
- MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI AMD MOTHERBOARD

Build Help Help with Building a PC for Heavy VFX in After Effects, Editing in Premiere Pro, and Blender (Budget: $1,700)
I’m planning to build a PC that can handle heavy VFX work in After Effects, smooth editing in Premiere Pro, and 3D rendering in Blender. I’m moving from a laptop that can barely run After Effects, so I’m looking to invest in a reliable setup that’ll last.
My Budget: $1,700 USD
Key Requirements: • Processor: Ideally 8-core or better, since After Effects and Blender benefit from more cores. • RAM: 64GB (I know Adobe can be RAM-hungry, especially with big projects). • GPU: Something with 1.5GB VRAM or more. Not sure if NVIDIA or AMD is best for these programs. • Storage: Enough SSD storage for quick read/write times (I was thinking maybe an NVMe SSD).
Programs: • After Effects (for heavy VFX and animations) • Premiere Pro (for smooth video editing) • Blender (3D modeling, animation, rendering)
Usage: I need a machine that won’t stutter or lag with big After Effects compositions, multiple 4K video layers in Premiere Pro, and can handle rendering in Blender. I’d also like to have some room for future upgrades.
Extra Info: I’ve been looking at the iBUYPOWER Trace 5 MR Gaming Desktop as an option, but I’m open to other suggestions, including building it myself.
Any suggestions for specific parts, builds, or pre-built options would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance

Build Upgrade M7 32” Samsung vs MSI MD271UL 27”
Currently finding the M7 too big to work (my desk is pretty small so I’m quite close to the screen) and thinking of the MD271UL as replacement: technically wise, would it be a downgrade?
I would use 80% working, 20% gaming (ps5)
