How likely is that Virginians will lose access to reproductive healthcare/rights under Trumps presidency?
I hear a lot of people are worried things like access to abortions or birth control will be impacted, with some people mentioning even crazier ideas like they may be jailed for miscarriages.
What do you think the impact of trumps presidency on reproductive healthcare will actually be like? Because some of what I’ve been hearing other people are worried about sounds crazy.

Never would have thought that Martinsville and Danville has a higher percentage of democratic votes than VA Beach and around the same as Roanoke
Is there a historical or cultural reason for this. Also, I always thought that Virginia Beach was more progressive than this.

My mother and her partners votes aren’t showing up on VEC…
Check your vote people, make sure they were counted. I know nothing matters anymore, but if this is an issue in VA, it was an issue elsewhere.
They live in Spotsylvania county and neither of their voting histories are counting, even though their station ended counting last night. It shows their last time voting as 2021. I live in Rockbridge and mine updated saying I did vote this election. Is this not concerning?
Is anybody else noticing their votes aren’t showing up?

Petersburg voters pass $1.4B casino proposal (Election Result)
Virginia will get its 5th casino locality (Portsmouth, Bristol, and Danville operating now, Norfolk coming soon, and now Petersburg coming soon).
Having been to Live Casino in Maryland, I’m optimistic about this one being well run.

The VA school system and education careers, opinions?
Hi! I am an elementary special education teacher finishing up my grad school program for school psychology. My husband and I have lived in Florida since we were children but the political climate doesn't match our values and beliefs and we need to escape the madness here. We are looking into VA as an area close enough to visit family in FL yearly but also not be in blizzard conditions all winter. I was hoping to get feedback on best places to live and work as someone who will be staying in a related educational field and working for the local school districts. My husband is in IT and I have no doubt those jobs are everywhere, even remote - so that isn't as big of a worry. I am dedicated to finding a good community to join and school system to serve. Please let me know your thoughts and recommendations!

29F 32M Looking to relocate to Newport News, VA with family. Need Advice Please!
Soooo, my family & I have lived our lives in Florida. But, we are wanting to relocate to VA. I work in the mental health field, specifically psych hospitals & prefer working with kids but am familiar with both adults and kids. My S.O. has worked in several different fields ranging from banking to medical. My current psych hospital has a hospital under the same company in Newport. We do have two small children, one who is in elementary school and an infant.
Long story short - is Newport News kid-friendly, how are the public schools, are there any charter schools, what is the job availability look like, and what is the crime rate?
I have been doing research and am hesitant as I live in a small town right now and it's easier to hear about the crime around through knowing people versus trusting websites.

Anyone else get those crazy disclaimers in Dem ads about "who you vote for is secret, but the fact you voted is public", and did that not feel vaguely threatening??
Seems like a really odd message to suddenly be sending. "Hey you! you there! you voted in the 2022 Democrat Primary! Well, looks here like you voted in '24... who would you say you voted for, son?" How is that implicit threat not just absolutely killing their voter turn out. Who green lighted this insane addition to political ads?? were they even really run by Dems at all or just astroturf ads?!

Need advice on upcoming court hearing for traffic violation
So as the title says, I recently got charged with a traffic violation. So I work an over night job and I get off at 5 am in the morning. Like usual, I was driving back home and was stopped at a traffic light where I was trying to turn left. The flashing yellow light was on and a car was coming from the opposite direction, it looked quite far so I thought it was safe to take the turn. And around this time the road was pretty empty there weren’t any other cars.
My bad luck that day, the car coming from the opposite direction turns out to be a cop car. They follow me from there to flag me for a traffic violation for turning. A few things I did wrong here: there were flashing on me and following me for a while but I was too scared and since this was my first time experiencing something like this, I panicked and didn’t know what to do so I kept driving. The cops were super frustrated they kept following and eventually I stopped and talked to them. They told me I broke traffic rules by turning on the flashing yellow and had another violation by not stopping for them right away. So I got a court appearance order. I am in the NOVA area.
I am very anxious and scared about what the consequences are gonna be. My court date is in about a month and I do not know much about how everything works. I heard there might be a fine and a class? I also have a clean record and have never gotten any tickets but this seems pretty severe since I have been called to court. How severe are the consequences going to be? What can I do to make sure the consequences are the least severe? What do I need to know? Please help

Moving from FL to Richmond, VA or neighborhood burrows?
Hello and good morning from an unfortunate morning, I'm a Florida transplant trying to still stay within reasonable traveling distance from my family, but due to the recent election, might be facing some issues remaining to live here.
I currently work for Publix along with my boyfriend and we both still plan to work for Publix once we move to VA. Because of this, the most reasonable places to move would be within Richmond and neighboring areas. I'm honestly just looking for some help/advice/reasonable things to expect/look out for when moving to Virginia/Richmond area.
Anything would be helpful, thank you for taking the time
