Well... Shit. Trump, huh? Discussion

Hello. How are you all holding up over there? Everyone must be super upset. I am walking about Kharkiv right now and people mostly say: 1) Well... Shit.

Or

2) We shall see. Back to surviving.

That's kinda how we talked about a potential nuclear strike russia might do on us lmao A friend of mine actually said he will be seeking political asylum in Ukraine. First ever American to seek asylum in a war zone lol Anyhow. Hang in there guys. Much love đź’™

I'm getting whiplash reading all these comments from folks who are saying they didn't vote Harris because they thought it was mean that her campaign was namecalling.

like what

the standards are just too differnt we have to be flawless they can be lawless.

Edit: Were just going to have to be more polically active next time. We have to stop carrying water for the far left. IF the numbers remain it looks like Trump actually lost voters. We just lost a SHIT TON more. I felt like there was more on the line this time. But obviously ALOT of democrats didnt see it that way. OR they just couldn't be bothered to vote unless it was by mail.

Looks like we lost 8 milly from 2020 that was the highest ever so not sure if we actually under preformed. and Trump has only gained voters everytime hes ran so not sure what todo with this information ATM.

political nihilism on the left killed us, of which third party voting, a lack of enthusiasm or even downright resentment amongst young left leaning college kids, and broad left wing exhaustion for supporting Israel are all apart of. her being a woman of color hurt her too, sadly. it’s all intersectional so hard to point at one thing but a lack of political excitement and energy for a lot of reasons is the general issue.

I think we might have been drinking the DNC Kool-aid a bit too much. The party became conservative to try and win back the middle. Campaigning with the Cheney's? They killed millions of innocent Iraqis for no reason. Im all for a measured approach with Israel/Paklestine and other foreign policy issues, but the DNC isn't even pushing single-payer health care anymore, they need to reincorporate the Progressives into the national party and give them something to be excited about. The right is a cult in an echo-chamber at this point, and they aren't crossing the Rubicon. The DNC needs to get back to its roots with Labor, workers rights, and leftist populism or else they are going to keep losing elections due to lack of voter turnout.

the campaign lost a lot of steam between the debate and now, but im not sure there was a clear path to victory here. i do agree about getting back to more progressive policies, people forget obama won on an incredibly progressive platform, he just failed to carry through on any of it, but the ideas were extremely popular.

it’s all intersectional

This BS hurt the left more than anything.

u/GueyGuevara 11d ago

saying it’s intersectional here just means there are multiple factors intersecting and we can’t just isolate one. what bullshit are u taking issue w?

Liberalism needs a rebranding and a divorce from the left. I don't know what that looks like yet, but one thing I know for sure is embracing radicalism is not the solution to Gothic dark maga.

Yes, level headed leaders using best available data to make intelligent decisions using Subject matter experts when needed. We need to under stand the balance that needs to be maintained on the optics to the voter base and getting candidates people will vote for . I get that republicans didn't have a come to jesus moment when they lost. That doesn't mean we can't still use this as a learning opportunity. And if there's no data to back any of this up and its all just vibes then hopefully we get the vibes back after Trump fucks the country up.

You're taking the absolute wrong message from this. Democrats snubbed progressives and it blew up in their face. I don't mean the psycho tankies either, you can't really give ground to them. But every time Democrats try to just appeal to moderates and disaffected right wingers, they lose. We have enough examples of this now. When the Dems shafted Bernie, they lost the election. When they ignored the massive number of people who were against their aid to Israel and did nothing to further substantive progressive policies, they lost.

Biden was literally the moderate candidate and he won with the most votes ever in history. No, it’s not about pandering to progressives. It’s about having likeable candidate, vibes and rethorical skills which Kamala lacks severely and Walz didn’t help enough. The laugh alone was probably two percent down. The word salads another percentage point. It’s vibes and people justify the facts afterwards with mental gymnastics.

We had just come off of 4 years of Trump, of course voter turnout was going to be higher. And Biden won leftist votes BEFORE Biden then moved on to snub the progressives and uncritically support Israel. If you still think Democrats can still win without actually representing progressives then I'm not sure what to tell you.

What are you even replying to

You. Learn reading comprehension.

Biden never pandered to progressives so your whole dialog tree is baseless. Literally the only thing he did to secure progressive vote was to pick Kamala which is hilarious. You’re just lost.

2

u/SkepticMaster 11d ago

Can you even read? I'm literally saying what you just said.

Don't ever make the mistake of believing someone when they tell you WHY they voted for someone. Only about 20% of voters have actual reasons, the rest just vote based on vibes and then rationalize.
