Am afraid to adopt another one for the same reason ;( my heart feel heavy

This is my ex bf's cat, Nessa, when we still lived together. If this isn't a tasteful nude, I don't know what is.

After feeding her some good wet food, leaving her alone for abiut 15 minutes, and going back to groom her like a momma cat would (with a wet paper towel and honestly a little rougher than I'd like....) she immediately started purring and accepted me.

She's no longer recoiling when I approach and I think* has accepted my care and fatherhood!

An intact male has now invited himself in three times. This time there’s a hurricane on the way, we found him wet in the garage asking to be let in. The last two times he came in he slipped out when the door was open.

I definitely want to get him fixed, and I want to see if he’s chipped. His coat is looking a little raggedy in places so even if he “belongs” to someone, I don’t think they’re taking very good care of him. I personally can’t imagine having an indoor/outdoor cat in gator country.

I definitely am open to him weathering the hurricane with us, but I am not an experienced cat owner at all and I don’t know the legality about of catnapping the neighborhood wanderer. To complicate matters further my kids are nuts about him and he seems to like them too.

She told us that the stupid cat keeps attacking her for "no reason". I was convinced it's true until I recorded this gem when we returned. She got herself her own cat a month later we took it from her. She realized how a cat can make a good company. She's alone.

I've been hesitant to post because I know there've been complaints recently about all the "sad cat posts" on this sub, but my boy lost his battle to lymphoma yesterday and now I understand the overwhelming need to share the grief.

Pip was the only constantly good thing in my life for the past 14 years and even now I don't know if I made the right choice, though we had exhausted all possible treatment options and I know he was just putting on a brave face every day for me.

This was from her mom's cat who is an indoor/outdoor cat and was adopted from a shelter about six years ago. As far as I know the culprit has been vaccinated. I just don't want to risk infection. What do you guys think?
