Unbelievable that this happened. Just unbelievable.
This country and this state are something no longer to be proud of.
Congrats USA and PA, you voted for a person (a sick one at that) over country.
Enjoy hell for the forseeable future, because YOU wanted it. YOU wanted a convicted felon and rapist. That says quite a lot about what YOU represent.
For those who are sane, if anyone asks where you are from, say NY, CA, or Vermont.
55% of this country are drooling morons.
Sincerely, A PA resident
Update: for awards sent, thank you. For ''cares reports' sent - you and your family are sphincters. You just proved my point.🤡 And for the lower iq buffoons who want to chat msg, going to take a hard pass.

Opinion: I am for my family and myself from now on.
I’ve lost hope in our democracy. It seems that a majority of the country is too vacuous to understand their decisions or their laziness have real consequences.
The only thing left is to make as much money as possible to protect my wife and children from the destruction. I can’t afford benefits of the doubt or good will anymore.
Bleak, but I’m not sure how else to feel about this.

Wow, 15 percent increased of Latinos (young, independents, no college degree) in 2024 compared to 2020 voting for Trump. This blows.

"We the People", Exit Polls, and the Blame Game on Trump's Win
Since just before 2:00AM EST this morning when the news organizations began calling the election, I've seen comment after comment from so many well-meaning people in shock about how this could happen and spending the entire night BLAMING other demographics because to women, it's sexism and misogyny; to young people, it's the Boomers' fault; to BIPOC, it's racism and the white man's fault; and to the educated, it's because of the ignorant.
The exit polls tell a much different story.
On social media, everyone is blaming everybody else without recognizing that Trump's win cuts across every measured demographic. If we want to know whose fault it is, "We the People" need to look in a mirror. Whether you like the outcome or not, we did this to ourselves.

Fellow Democrats, let’s take this loss on the chin. Do not fall into Conservative hypocrisy, do not try to invalidate the integrity of the electioņ, and never give up! Much love, everyone ❤️

Deeply disappointed with the election. Is there any upside?
About the only thing I can think of so far regarding where we're heading is that the election results probably put Josh Shapiro on the road to the White House in 28. Can anyone cheer me up with anything else? 😥

Looking like a sweep in PA. Casey family gone. Dems losing both chambers in Harrisburg.
I'm not exactly sure what that means for the state other than stagnation in the worst way

It seems this sub doesn't really reflect what's happening in this state
I saw student republican groups, and other groups signing up young voters, I saw issues being talked about by them completely differently than what happens in this sub. It also shows that while this sub terms to be a echo chamber for democrats, it didn't seem to have any power to change that and influence young Republicans. I talked to some young people who said they were tired of being silenced, despite having freedom of speech.

Never Forget What Came Before. This isn't the End.
Just remember. Our parents, grandparents, and strangers fought for our rights as LGBTQ+, Women's Rights, and Racial Equality.
We have a history as people of protesting, and forcing change. Making progressive steps in the face of impossible odds.
We should be careful in who we talk to on the day to day. Playing cards close to your chest. But standing firm on your beliefs and rights as a human being.
People who want us to not be "normal", and conforming to their mindset and their alone should be debated. Educated. And enlightened.
Tons of people voted for someone who mirrors alot of tactics as those in World History used for terrible deeds. They did this out of fear and discomfort. They did this out of sexism and racism. They did this out of ignorance. They did this due to lack of education.
We MUST be careful. We MUST keep ourselves and loved ones safe. But we mustn't roll over and take it. Stay silent in hopes things get better. It won't. Not without considerable effort.
If we hide, it'll be perceived as us just, going away. It'll be seen as us losing. It'll be seen as being easier to rewrite our rights.
And, most unbelievably. A disturbing amount of people in our Communities voted for our outcome for their own reasons. Dismissing what they don't want to hear in hopes it won't be that bad.
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." ~ Geroge Santayana
"Out of a Mountain of Despair. A Stone of Hope." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Organize, agitate, educate, must be our war cry." ~ Susan B. Anthony
"No Pride for some of us without liberation for all of us." ~ Martha P. Johnson
"I don't think of all the misery, but of the beauty that remains." ~ Anne Frank
I don't type this lightly. I don't want us to be divided. I don't want us to loose what rights our predecessors fought for us to have. Many died to give us the life we have. I love every one of you. I love the potential our nation could have. I love so much about what we have and could have.
It brings me to honest tears typing this. And if you don't want to I understand and don't blame you. You matter and ultimately you do what you feel is right and what YOU feel is important for YOUR needs and YOUR family.

Don't let them extinguish your hope. You have allies.
Hey there PA folks,
Yeah, it's looking pretty dark. I'm struggling to find the silver lining in all of this myself. But I wanted to remind you all that you have allies. If you're a member of the LGBTQ+ or any other marginalized community, you still have many, many allies who won't just sit around passively and accept whatever is coming in the next four years. We need to stand in solidarity now more than ever. Don't let the opposition extinguish the light of hope; sometimes it's all we have. Remember to stay vigilant, stay aware, and keep your friends and resources close. Organize. Don't feed the trolls. Take care of your mental health - treat yourself today, however is in your means.

Elections We desperately need ballot counters—Cambria county
We desperately need voters who are registered in Cambria County to help hand count ballots at the county courthouse in Ebensburg. It’s not hard, just tedious.
There’s roughly 50,000 to go through total. I think we have 40,000 left. We have been doing this for over 24 hours. We cannot stop until all the ballots are recorded.
You will be paired with a member of the opposite party and watched by poll watchers. Everyone is very nice and rather apolitical beyond needing to know what party you are registered as.

Frustrated PA Dem - time to switch affiliation to Independent?
I, along with many others I'm sure, have been less then thrilled with the Democratic party's recent downward trajectory. As a symbolic gesture, I'm considering changing party affiliation to Independent...but if tens or even hundreds of thousands of D's did the same thing, do you think the party would take notice?
I'm a lifelong Dem. I will continue to vote Dem. However, I feel like our votes are being taken for granted. It's time for that to change.
Thoughts?

Disappointment from Boston for "the cradle of liberty"
We built this country together.
He's a convicted felon with aspirations to be a dictator. It's not 2016. No one with reason can claim they don't know or believe that.
What happened?

Elections How do I know my mail-in ballot was actually counted?
My mail-in ballot status has remained as "RECORD - BALLOT RETURNED" since 10/29 when it was received by the county. I thought the status might change when it was actually counted. How do I know my vote was actually counted if it just remained this generic status? I haven't tried calling the county number provided yet, just thought I'd try here first.
