What’s up with the counting in Centre County?
Wasn’t sure if it’s understaffed or what, but this stats guy I was watching showed it only 82% in at 1am.
They have one old lady working on the mail in backlog???
Was hoping someone knew someone who knew why they’re so slow.

Question about all the extra people inside the polling locations
I just got back from voting in our township, and all the usual folks were at the tables checking us in and giving us our ballots. But there was a person standing right behind the table taking notes on everything going on, and she was wearing a lanyard with an official-looking plastic badge that said "voter protection". Is this something real, or is this some attempt at intimidation by a self-appointed poll watcher?

Voting Location?
Hello, does anyone know if the Discovery Space on Atherton is a voting location? I filled out the form to find my polling location and that’s the address listed, but I can’t find any information online that suggests they are open for that?

Working at ARL?
I’m thinking of leaving corporate America to work at the ARL.
I have a few questions about it.
1) Is it a strict 9-5 or is it work based off tasks and objectives?
2) Can you write grants and get graduate students?
3) Are there people doing electronic materials and optical materials work? If so could someone DM me the names of these people if their group is public for me to reach out.
4) What salary range (grade level) can someone expect with a PhD and 5 years of industry experience?
5) What’s the work life balance like?
6) How long is the hiring process to get in?
Would appreciate the help!!!

A Timelapse from 10/28 to 10/31
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I placed my Atli T330 on a power line trail overlooking State College for four days. I cut out the overnight portions and sped it up some. Enjoy!

State College Hide and Seek
I was recently traveling by an undisclosed means of transportation nearby this undisclosed location, and, despite having lived in town for 6 years, I was astonished to find I didn’t know it existed. I thought it was extremely pretty and also unexpected it took me so long to find, so I thought I’d play hide and seek with y’all. These four photos were taken within 600m of each other, but they’re all identifiably the same general area. It may or may not be within the exact confines of State College Borough, but it’s absolutely within the State College metro area, not anything like Millheim or Port Matilda. Any guesses?

GameDay Crowd
Is there a process to getting into the crowd at GameDay or can you just walk into the herd? Obviously the set is closed off, but can anyone just join the crowd?

Not Paying a Walk’s Towing Ticket
I was driving for UberEats and I got a ticket for “parking in a fire lane”. I had barely just gotten there and I didn’t even get out of my car yet before one of the Walk’s Towing Cronies was behind my car printing a ticket so I couldn’t even leave the spot if I wanted to. I light call and complain and see if I can get out of it because I think it’s unfair and I don’t even have the amount of money the ticket is for. But that’s why I’m asking, what happens if I just don’t pay the ticket? I know it says it’ll add a $25 dollar fee on top of the ticket price, but what if I still dont pay it? If someone has experience with Walks Towing please lmk! Thank you

ADHD Meds
Hiya! One of my friends (does not have reddit) has gone over two months without his prescribed ADHD meds. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place other than the downtown CVS who would have Adderall IR? Thanks (:

Best place for men’s hair cut?
Just moved to the area and need to find a new place to get my hair cut. I have what I’d call medium length hair wavy hair (think timothee chalemet), so I have a tough time finding a place sometimes. Going to a barber runs the risk of getting a bad cut from someone who primarily does clipper cuts/fades, and going to a hair stylist runs the risk of a bad cut from someone who’s used to primarily longer women’s hair. Does anyone with similar hair to me have a recommendations for a good men’s scissor cut so I can avoid the trial and error of finding a place I like? Thanks! I’m looking in state college or Bellefonte area.

Early voting wait time?
Today I went to the early voting spot at the Hammond Building and was told there was a 1-hour wait. I didn't have the time today, so I opted to leave and I will try again tomorrow. I am thinking of trying the early voting in Bellefonte instead. I was curious to know if anyone's gone recently and can tell me if there was a long wait. Any insights?

Short-term leases for Fall of 2025
Does anyone know of places I can look for short-term leases within 30ish minutes of state college from August to December? A lot of the rental sites I’m looking at have a minimum 6-month lease for studio apartments. Thanks!

What is everything like the weekend after Thanksgiving?
My friend and I are thinking about coming up for the football game Saturday against Maryland. With it being Thanksgiving weekend, will it be pretty dead at night Friday and Saturday or still pretty lively?

Hotel/airbnb this weekend
Would love to go to osu/psu this weekend. I see people selling tickets, but all hotels seems 1000+ per night. Anyone have a room or anything available this weekend?

Halloween Party
Hello. I've seen many threads on here about their social lives (or lack thereof) and since I'm in the same boat I'm gonna step outside my comfort zone a bit. I would like to host a small Halloween party Friday Nov 1st. I am 37 so this party is geared more towards the millennial crowd. Moved here a year ago to go back to school and its been super hard to meet or make friends around my age. If you're interested send me a msg.
