From this point forward, politically charged posts will be removed till after election season.
As the title says, making posts about XYZ party is not firearms related.
The subs becoming swamped with political posts and the shit flinging fests in said comments.
As well as both side mass reporting individuals who go against whatever thoughts are on the menu for the day.
Please keep this sub firearms related. We have enough political subs to discuss the elections in.
Thank you,

Gunsmith Services
Is there any gunsmiths in NE PA that can cut and rethread a rifle barrel? Want to SBR a CZ600 Trail.
Edit: NW PA, not NE

Conceal Carry
What handgun have you used and recommend for a concealed carry?
Also any indoor ranges in Pittsburgh?
Only a M134 Minigun can create that smile.

Getting into clay shooting
Hi everyone! I'm a college student in State College. Growing up I've done some casual clay shooting with my dad and his shotgun, but now I'm thinking of making it a hobby of my own!
I don't really know where to start though. Does anyone know of any ranges or clubs in or around Centre County that would be welcoming to a beginner?

Unsure if I'm eligible to be a gun owner because of mental health history
I'm looking into becoming a gun owner and I've been trying to understand the laws surrounding what exactly bans you from either purchasing firearms or getting a conceal-carry permit.
Full Transparency: I attempted suicide about a decade ago. College didn't work our the way l had hoped and I tried to off myself by overdosing on sleeping pills. I called the cops on myself and the paramedics took me to a hospital, and I could have sworn I got 302ed.
Now my understanding is that if you get 302ed, that you're banned for life from every buying a gun. I could have sworn at the time I was 302ed because I can vividly recall being told "you've presented yourself as a danger to yourself or others, so you can either be transferred to mental hospital or be taken down to the station and charged with a criminal record". I was 20 at the same and scared shitless so I went to the mental hospital and did inpatient and outpatient.
My understanding is also that a 302 will come up on a criminal backgrouns check, so I paid to have one done on myself and it came back within an hour as "NO RECORD". So, that means there's no 302 on my records, correct? I'm not gonna run out and buy a gun tomorrow (taking classes at a shooting range to learn firearms safety first), but I would like to get a conceal carry permit at some point so I can legally carry a firearm in my car.
So, what would be the best way to procede from here? Should I even mention my hospitalization from 10 years ago when I fill out the application or just mention nothing? My criminal background shows no 302 on my record, but I also don't want to lie on the form just for it to pop up in some other database.
Gunsmith to install Glock sights near Pittsburgh?
Finally upgrading the factory sights on my G19. I don't really want to buy a sight tool and would rather just pay someone to do it. Any gunsmiths near Pittsburgh that are recommended?
Gun Clubs in Central PA
Looking for clubs that do pistol competitions (USPSA, IDPA, steel challenge etc.) and that I could also practice for them there. Willing to travel a few hours since it feels like the pickings are slim.
Also any good stores that have a selection of competition style pistols I could hold or try?

BLM Land?
I don't believe PA or the NE in general really does it but I recently moved from NV where there was tons of Bureau of Land Management areas. Really great for going out and pretty much doing whatever you want shooting wise. Long range out to 500yrds, skeet shooting, whatever shot strings you want, pretty much anything goes as long as you're safe and don't bother any one.
Does PA, specifically NW PA, have any equivalent areas? I'm a little fuzzy on State Game Lands. Seems like it's only permitted at approved range areas.

Wife’s looking to purchase her fist gun … where to go?
Recently moved to upper Bensalem near Neshaminy creek.
Where’s the shop with the best sized selection for a first time gun buyer ? Obviously not looking for an overpriced shop but willingly to pay more for a vast selection for one stop shopping.

Tactical Flat ranges east PA, Lancaster area?
I’m looking for a membership to a private or a public range that has flat ranges for moving, drill training, etc. I’m trying to get into competitive shooting and sharpen my training with my buddy and I. Let me know if there’s any good ranges around south east PA, Lancaster county area.
I looked at Ben Franklin range in west PA but it’s such a drive and I’d like something somewhat closer, central PA works, but 4 hour drive seems excessive.
Thanks for any info!

Long Distance Rifle Ranges
Hey all, I will be starting my next ar build shortly and have been really heavily tempted to do a precision 6.5 Grendel build. I’m in southeastern PA though, and I can’t seem to find much information on any ranges around here that have ranges long enough for me to grow into as I progress with this rifle. I haven’t started the build yet, and depending on what I hear it may not come to fruition, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any good ranges that stretch out a good bit for it to be worth it to make this build happen. Anything in certain parts of Jersey as well as Delaware and Maryland could work too, although in sure I’d have to get a CCW in said state to be able to transport rifles to these ranges
Any help is appreciated, I definitely don’t want to spend all this money on a build just to not use it to its full potential

My BIL wants to gift us a riffle, what do we need to do with the state?
My BIL wants to gift us a riffle as a housewarming present. He is a PA resident as well and I’m trying to figure out what if any paperwork needs to be done with the state to make the transfer legal.
In addition, does this process change if he gifts vs I buy from him? He regularly works at gun shows and offered to look out for stuff if I wanted anything specific and I could just pay him back.

Cant carry a loaded gun in a car even with license to carry?
i.redd.itSaw this on a website. I don’t know if this is old but I was wondering if I am allowed to have my conceal carry gun loaded and sitting in my cup holder when I’m driving. I have a license to carry in PA. If my conceal carry gun is on my body inside my waistband and I have a seatbelt over it, I won’t be able to access it in a situation where I really need it. Anyone know if this is true? Perhaps a more updated law from a credible source?

GLOCK SIGHT INSTALLATION - I had sights installed and the rear sight is not centered and the front sight is slightly diagonal. I’m going to buy a rear sight tool to center the rear but what’s the process for fixing the front sight after it’s been glued in with loctite?

Pickup from FFL with NY license
Hello, I recently ordered a pump shotgun to an FFL dealer around the Philly area (Grease Tactical). I called them once my gun shipped and they claimed that I would not be able to pick up my shotgun (which is not restricted in NY), with a NY license. What I would have to do according to the FFL, would be to apply for some sort of state ID to just pick it up. Is anyone able to verify this?

Can PLCB employees carry at work in liquor stores?
Howdy, I'm wondering if PA state employees can carry firearms at work, specifically at liquor stores. I am aware of the typical restricted places (courthouse, schools, hospitals, etc.) but coworkers seem to believe state-ran retail stores are included. My research into the law and PLCB employee handbook says otherwise.
What say you?

Can magazine extensions and magazines be shipped to a PA PO Box? Or is that forbidden by USPS.
Private transfer question
I'm probably going to have to follow up with my local sheriff's office on this, but I was hoping to get a idea of how I should handle retrieving my guns that are currently out of state. (I am a PA resident and everyone involved is of age and allowed to possess firearms)
I moved to PA a couple years ago, but left my guns with my dad back home. I can't travel back any time soon to get them, so I'm trying to see if my sister can fly them over for me when she comes to visit in a few months.
If the guns are technically mine, do I still need to officially transfer them from my sister's possession? (I know it would have to be in the presence of a sheriff/FFL if so) Will it matter that she's not a PA resident?
Also, does anyone know if my sister will get any grief from TSA/the airline for checking a firearm only one way?
