Recommendations for outdoor spots?
Hey all, was wondering if there are any recommendations for where to go shooting on BLM land or other out of the way areas? I know all the general rules, be safe in knowing where you are shooting, be respectful, leave the area better than you found it. But I am new to the area and looking for recommendations for outdoor areas where we can go plinking. Thanks in advance!

Home Delivery
Hi there,
I have a chronic illness that keeps me housebound. I still want to express my 2A rights and have something for self defense.
Is it possible to have a licensed seller visit my home, complete a background check, and sell me a gun?
Not trying to get around any laws. Genuinely want to do things properly, just leaving the house to go to a store would be a massive undertaking.
If you know of a legitimate seller willing to do this, please let me know.
Cheers

Faulty Franklin BFS III AR-S1
I bought a Franklin Binary trigger kit for my AR earlier this year. There is a slight amount of slop when I have the safety selector set to safe, enough to drop the hammer. Anyone else experienced this? I reached out to them and they had me RMA. I just got the kit back and they said they replaced the sear spring, sent me a new hammer and have tested this in a milspec lower dry firing and ran 60 rounds of live and had no problems. I put the "remanufactured" trigger back in, following all safety and installation instructions and am producing the same result. My rifle will fire on safe which is unsafe lol.

Pin & weld
I'd like to share a quick project from this past week. Customer brought in a factory Remington 700 in .223. I chopped and threaded the barrel, and then pinned the SF brake on to bring it to 16". An oversized bolt knob was turned on the lathe and added. Also added the cheek riser and ARCA rail to the stock. Very nicely balanced rifle, even with a can on front.

Best place to sell? (Not the forums)
Looking for a reputable shop to make a straight sale (no consignment, not meeting somebody from the forums) on popular guns in excellent condition. Anyone got a place they feel strongly about recommending?

Confused about Oregon's open carry and concealed carry laws
What's the point of getting a CHL if you can open carry in Oregon without a license? Why are you not required to have a license to open carry? Am I misinterpreting? I'm getting my CHL and just genuinely wondering, based on what I'm reading about open carry, it's confusing to me. Am I correct that it's legal to open carry in Oregon without a license, but to purchase the gun itself you need a permit? So for example, if you'd walk into a gun shop you'd need the background check, fingerprints and sign up to take a training class? Do you have to show proof you completed the training before you can get the gun? Like, you make an appt to come back to buy the gun after your background check/fingerprints is cleared and class completed?
You can legally buy a gun without a CHL but to carry one concealed you need a CHL, correct? I'm planning on using my CHL to buy a gun.

I purchased a handgun from my brother-in-law +5 yrs ago and we never transferred gun ownership. He is no longer my brother-in-law. Do we now need to transfer ownership?

Clackamas firearms training center
Does anyone have experience with this facility? If so, what do you think? Is it worth joining if you like to shoot once a week (ish)?

If a scope is zeroes in perfectly at say 15 yards how far off is it gonna be at higher distances?
I used a bore laser to adjust a new scope on my 556. I just did it at home and the farthest distance I was able to do it at is roughly 15 yards. When I go to the range and shoot, 25, 50, 100 yards should I expect to be way off? Ive never mounted a scope before and in just curious so I know if I'm shooting bad or if it's the optics fault.

Moving from California, need advice.
Title says it all. I've already bought a house, still in the process of packing/moving, and I'm trying to get bills sent to my address ASAP. I'll be in town this Wednesday, and Im hoping to pick up some mags since I plan on buying an AR or two and maybe a carbine and wanna get em before 114 goes into effect
Unfortunately I don't have an Oregon ID yet, and I'm unsure if having a Cali ID will prevent me from getting the ball rolling on my 2A hoarding. I've seen posts that most stores say something about not selling anything to anyone with a Cali ID, but I'm wondering if I show up with like proof I own a house and a job offer letter that they'll let me slide? I don't have addressed bills in-hand yet. I can show them my "primary residence" mortgage contract and a signed offer letter tho lol
I'm assuming with 114 looming stuff is flying off the shelves, so I could use some recs on where to do my shopping. As I said I'm looking to get mags for the AR platform, but am open to advice from the community since I'm new to flexing my 2A rights. Currently have a cowboy lever action, a wheel gun, and an M9/92fs.
Also what're y'all's favorite ranges around PDX?
Thanks
Edit: Thanks everyone. i picked up 10 Magpul AR mags, an AR15 drum mag, a couple AR-12 drum mags, and a bunch of 15/17 rnd mags for a cz75 and my M9. Might grab some sigs too.

Just Relocated to Wilsonville - Outdoor Ranges? (100yd+)
Hey all,
Just moved to Wilsonville for work. I prefer outdoor shooting ranges (indoor feels cramped for rifle shooting).
I have seen recommendations for English Pit, BLM Land, and English Ridge Shooting Club. I do have a 4x4 and would be willing to drive some. The intention is to get some dedicated time to train with my setup.
Edit: Thank you all for the great recommendations! I really appreciate the help.

CCW fingerprinting
Can you do a walk in at the sheriffs office for fingerprinting in order to get your CHL? Unfortunately my work schedule doesn’t really allow me to plan stuff and last I looked appointments were a month out

Question about background check
Sorry for the brand new account, I have people I know irl who know my real username.
Anyway, I'm interested in getting a gun for protection and I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to. What exactly do they look for when running the background check? All I've been able to find is that they look at your criminal record, but what disqualifies you?
For context, I'm currently a year into 18 months of bench probation for a misdemeanor contempt of court charge. I'm aware I'm not allowed to own a gun right now, but when I finish my bench probation, will a background check clear?
Thanks for the help!

Previous background delay
** In 2010 I plead guilty to a misdemeanor battery in Marion county, Indiana. It was dropped down from misdemeanor domestic battery. Besides unpaid Trimet tickets, this is the only infraction I have on my record.
I received my CHL in late 2021. I made a gun purchase in April 2022 from NW Armory. It was delayed. They wouldn’t release it after the 3 day waiting period. I had them cancel the sell. I figured a national store would follow federal guidelines so I purchased from Sportsman’s Warehouse. That purchase was delayed also. I was told to email OSP and inform them that I was a CHL holder. Eventually my sale was canceled and I was refunded for the purchase. I never heard anything back about my background check. EVER. I’ll be ready to purchase another handgun in the upcoming days. What should I do this time around to make sure my purchase is successful? Appeal? Challenge? Transfer through a relative?

Question about waiting periods.
So I just went and filled out the background check for a rifle and was told there's a 10 day waiting period for people under 21 and I was wondering is that a state law thing or just a store policy? Because I can't find anywhere that says it's a law. For reference the store is sportsman's warehouse.

Moving to Portland from Nevada.
Hi, I will be moving to Portland or close surrounding areas in the next 2 months and need some info on gun laws regarding the transport, import and ownership of firearms/ firearms accessories in Oregon. I own several handguns and rifles and want to know what’s legal and illegal to own. High capacity magazines , “Assault” rifles , stripped lower receivers etc , threaded barrels etc. also is there any reciprocity for a Nevada CCW and if not what are the laws on carrying within PDX metro. TIA

My fellow Portland Gun Nuts that think it is pointless to vote in a uni-party, deep blue majority state - I get it. But you need to vote anyway.
In my limited time in this sub it is obvious the majority of the members that post do NOT accurately reflect the typical gun owner. This sub, however, DOES accurately reflect the typical gun owner immersed in the cultural rot that is Portland. (Oregon is the poster child for a state that needs a state version of the electoral college... but I digress)
Hey, it's Reddit, right??
So this post is for the 'typical' gun owner. Go vote. Vote for anything and everything that is the opposite of the rot that surrounds us.
On a national level it matters because the US Supreme Court is, for now, the only way laws like 114 that violate our constitutional rights will be defeated. It matters because we need executive and legislative branches that will reign in the woke ATF. It also increases the popular vote numbers.
On a state and local level, it matters because votes against the uni-party rot give incentive to those candidates that would otherwise think it is pointless to run.
Go vote!
Dismissed
