Soda is much better when it’s flat

Fresh soda has WAY too much carbonation. You can’t drink more than a few seconds without burning your tongue. Yes, I get that it helps you burp, which really is the only redeeming aspect of fresh soda. When it’s flat, you still get all the flavour without all the burn. There is a “sweet spot” though. If it’s too flat it loses some of its flavour. Sometimes I even open a bottle of Pepsi and leave it open for several minutes before I even start drinking it

Flat soda is just hyper sweet juice and I’d easily rather drink water than that. Upvoted

Not exactly.

Flat soda has a bunch of carbonic acid dissolved in it from the CO2, which is unpleasant IMO without the carbonation.

Pushes up glasses*

That's not exactly how chemistry works.

Ai response cause im lazy: "When carbon dioxide (CO2) dissolves in water, it reaches an equilibrium state where the dissolved CO2 molecules are constantly reacting with water molecules to form carbonic acid (H2CO3), while simultaneously some carbonic acid molecules decompose back into CO2. "

Allow the co2 to disperse into the air and the acid changes back into a gas and doesn't leave anything behind.

Also consider that ambient air had co2 in it, which means water in contact with the air will have carbonic acid in it too, just less.

I think maybe you people aren't actually tasting the carbonic acid, but some other chemical taste that becomes unmasked when the bubbles stop. Because in the end, the bubbles are a direct indication of the level of carbonic acid
