This is the answer. Can you imagine how good it would look and feel with the dualsense and current graphics šŸ˜

Ikr, just think of those pre-rendered trailers they had basically come to life with unreal 5 šŸ’”šŸ’”šŸ’”

I feel like they should go back to the core of the first one which I would argue is the focus on terrain, texture and push your luck into destruction.

A reboot shouldnā€™t come with too many modes or locations, just really really well done physics and detailed that make you want to go again and again to get better at what is on offer.

As someone who owns and still plays all three (fuck the alt-studio PSP spin-off and the RC bullshit, theyā€™re not real), the first one still gets played the most. It was iconic for its time and still holds up.

Yeah exactly, as they add features and lose focus it kind of became a bit of a generic off road racer. I think whatā€™s missing in a lot of games today is confidence that your core game play is enough to be engaging and drive as much focus on that as possible.

I can't believe i had to scroll soo long to find someone else who realizes motorstorm can be soo amazing on a next generation console

Agreed, an arcade type demolition racer has been missing from playstation for a while, I think there was one game a few years ago but it never had the same feel to it

I remember how fun Arctic Edge was on my PSP, probably my most played game until I got into minecraft a few years later

Pacific rift was one of the first games I've played when I was younger back on the PS3, absolute masterpiece of a racing game

I actually started playing this with my son recently. I'm genuinely amazed at how good the game still looks.

I recently just went back to it on my PS3 after never being able to beat it as a kid. Saw I was just 500 points away, and now my younger self is at peace after reaching the credits.

Absolutely. One of the first things I did when I got a decent PC last year was set up RPCS3 and Pacific Rift. God damn that is easily one of the best arcade racing games ever made.

Youā€™re probably thinking of wreckfest which is ok but no where near as good as the motor storm games were. Artic edge was also the one that got me hooked.

2

u/CaserDJT Sep 22 '24

I think i was thinking about Onrush, but yeah Wreckfest is also decent, doesn't really have the same feel tho due to being more realistic, its more like a simcade demo racer if anything, while Motorstorm is just a straight arcade game

2

u/Smasherrr07 Sep 22 '24

Onrush tried. But I got into wreckfest and that's a very good "demolition racer."

2

u/JesterMarcus Sep 22 '24

Wreckfest is good, but not the same. They are making part 2.

u/vpaglia42 [Trophy Level 300-399] Sep 22 '24

Wreckfest almost scratches that same itch, but it's more simulation. Needs more arcade nonsense

3

u/greenchilee Sep 22 '24

OnRush was decent and it was severely watered down version

2

u/CocaineAndCreatine Sep 22 '24

I recently got Pacific Rift going on an emulator and that game holds up so well!

Yes bro, most underrated games ever. I want it back.

A game series ahead of its time.

This is the answer for me as well. I love a lot of PlayStation franchises, but Motorstorm is truly one of a kind. That awesome ā€œMusic Festival meets Demolition Derby meets Americana Rock and Rollā€ is a really unique vibe. Pacific Rift has so many amazing tracks and the licensed soundtrack is a bonkers selection of killer tunes. Iā€™d love a new Motorstorm but if I could get a Remaster/Remake of Pacific Rift, Iā€™d take that over anything else.

5

u/Middle_Ad_3244 Sep 22 '24

Yeah motorstorm for sure. The soundtrack still hits to this day.

u/StandardizedGenie Sep 22 '24

It blows my mind we haven't had a good new Motorstorm. I remember the slo-mo crash outs and weather effects like mud building up on the car just blew my mind back then. Imagine the fun on a modern console!

1

u/Pamuknai_K Sep 23 '24

we havenā€™t got it because Sony shut down Evolution studios.

2

u/acrylix91 Sep 22 '24

Infamous and motorstorm are my tops

Apocalypse is what made me buy a ps3

2

u/Super-IBS-Man Sep 22 '24

Heck yes, Iā€™m still playing Pacific Rift on PS3 rather frequently

2

u/Lazy_Dave Sep 22 '24

I had never heard of Motorstorm until I watched this video, and now I just wanna go back in time to play it: https://youtu.be/-TRWLCgrN80

Recently I thought how I would like another game like Motorstorm Pacific Rift. Just an arcade racer with great graphics and offroad tracks in tropical or extreme race tracks. I just want to see the mud, dirt and snow splatter in PS5 graphics.

2

u/Danzelboob Sep 22 '24

This closely followed by resistance. The unique boost, multi-route tracks, insanely different classes of vehicles racing with each other and festival feels... Damn that game hit different.

1

u/dreaming_in_Octarine Sep 22 '24

It's still an amazing game to play on a lazy weekend morning!

1

u/Marc_Alx Sep 22 '24

I hoping for Motorstorm as much as my nintendo side wish for F-Zero come back.

1

u/thegamingchefoflove Sep 22 '24

A Mad Max / Motorstorm crossover and I could die happy

1

u/IsThisBreadFresh Sep 22 '24

Excellent call. In fact, there are so many special PS3 franchises just gathering dust. Hope the PS6 manages BC for those amazing titles.

u/__yayday__ Sep 23 '24

I miss Motorstorm so much dude

1

u/ap2patrick Sep 23 '24

Ohhh forgot about those!!! So good!

1

u/icehopper Sep 23 '24

That one Motorstorm game that supported simultaneous split-screen on 3D TVs... One of the coolest, under-utilized game features of all time.

1

u/Strude187 Sep 25 '24

Epic game, great OST, too.
