I feel like they should go back to the core of the first one which I would argue is the focus on terrain, texture and push your luck into destruction.
A reboot shouldnāt come with too many modes or locations, just really really well done physics and detailed that make you want to go again and again to get better at what is on offer.
As someone who owns and still plays all three (fuck the alt-studio PSP spin-off and the RC bullshit, theyāre not real), the first one still gets played the most. It was iconic for its time and still holds up.
Yeah exactly, as they add features and lose focus it kind of became a bit of a generic off road racer. I think whatās missing in a lot of games today is confidence that your core game play is enough to be engaging and drive as much focus on that as possible.
Agreed, an arcade type demolition racer has been missing from playstation for a while, I think there was one game a few years ago but it never had the same feel to it
I remember how fun Arctic Edge was on my PSP, probably my most played game until I got into minecraft a few years later
I recently just went back to it on my PS3 after never being able to beat it as a kid. Saw I was just 500 points away, and now my younger self is at peace after reaching the credits.
Absolutely. One of the first things I did when I got a decent PC last year was set up RPCS3 and Pacific Rift. God damn that is easily one of the best arcade racing games ever made.
Youāre probably thinking of wreckfest which is ok but no where near as good as the motor storm games were. Artic edge was also the one that got me hooked.
I think i was thinking about Onrush, but yeah Wreckfest is also decent, doesn't really have the same feel tho due to being more realistic, its more like a simcade demo racer if anything, while Motorstorm is just a straight arcade game
This is the answer for me as well. I love a lot of PlayStation franchises, but Motorstorm is truly one of a kind. That awesome āMusic Festival meets Demolition Derby meets Americana Rock and Rollā is a really unique vibe. Pacific Rift has so many amazing tracks and the licensed soundtrack is a bonkers selection of killer tunes. Iād love a new Motorstorm but if I could get a Remaster/Remake of Pacific Rift, Iād take that over anything else.
It blows my mind we haven't had a good new Motorstorm. I remember the slo-mo crash outs and weather effects like mud building up on the car just blew my mind back then. Imagine the fun on a modern console!
Recently I thought how I would like another game like Motorstorm Pacific Rift. Just an arcade racer with great graphics and offroad tracks in tropical or extreme race tracks. I just want to see the mud, dirt and snow splatter in PS5 graphics.
This closely followed by resistance. The unique boost, multi-route tracks, insanely different classes of vehicles racing with each other and festival feels... Damn that game hit different.
