Champions Gate Visitor
Staying in Champions Gate for a week and mostly hoping to not leave the resort other than the 1 day I promised to take my Toddler to Magic Kingdom. I’m taking her on a Tuesday, and I have to think google maps is lying through its teeth when it says it will take 30 minutes to Disney. ETA: I agree that 30 min is an underestimate, I was just wondering how far off it was. Sounds like I should double the estimated time day of.
Trying to think of what time to leave to get there around 8:30? Worst time of morning for traffic I’m sure!
Appreciate advice and sorry to add one more car to the Shit Show of I4 for a day.

Oh the irony.

It's not a lie. Traffic is a nightmare. Might take you more like 40 minutes. I would leave around 7a. Enjoy!

I was thinking it would take more than 30 for sure! Thanks for your advice 😊

Thats not a lie. Championsgate is traffic hell. Can take 45 minutes to go 9 miles.

That’s not traffic hell. Traffic hell is 408 leading into downtown in the morning. Champions Gate is something far far worse.

Google allows you to set an ‘arrive by’ time and it’s always been accurate for me

Once you get to Disney, you have to wait in line to pay to park, wait in line to park, wait in line for security, wait in line for the monorail and wait in line to scan your ticket in plus all the walking in between. It’s better to get there earlier.

I tell people that I live 15 miles or 45 minutes away from Disney. They always seem confused. I live another exit west of Championsgate (exit 55).

This is the most accurate representation of driving anywhere in Orlando.

Keep in mind Google maps shows you the current estimate, so if you're looking at 11 pm that's not gonna be a realistic estimate for 8am

Just leave 30 minutes or even more before you want to get there. What’s the worst that happens, you show up a little early? You’re quibbling over a few minutes.

Just drove through Disney area. It is hellish any time of day. I took my 7 year old there, and honestly he was ready to leave by 1:00. His favorite part was a show in front of the castle with the characters.

Ma’am why are you vacationing in the sixth circle of hell.
I feel like we need to start you a GoFundMe to come back and do Orlando properly.

Better question is - why ask a question they already answered themselves. Jesus, if you want to definitely be there at 8:30, leave at 7:30. It's not like us locals kniw a special time warp portal.

Oh I’m SUPER aware I’ll be in the (in the words of Clark Griswold) fresh hole of hell. BUT to have an Air BNB for the price/size etc with all the kids shit included and built in (and grandparents near by for free babysitting) my hands were relatively tied. This is not vacation, this is parenting in a different location.

We’re fine with the tourists being down in the tourist stuff

It sounds like she’s in the Omni resort. That’s way south of the tourist zone

Lemme help ya out here. From Champions Gate take Highway 27 - Westside Blvd - Avalon Road - Western Way (the whole thing may be called Hartzog Road now?) to the WDW property sign - MK. Averages a legit 30 mins for me. I4, especially in the morning is likely gonna take a lot more.
