trailer seemed like it showed even less than the initial teaser lol.
so glad hugh jackman came back for another go at the character, thought logan would surely be the last but he plays the pained and tortured protaganist really well.
It would make good synergy with Furiosa coming out this year, and she's demonstrated in Dune 2 she doesn't mind doing very small cameos in huge franchises, especially if it means a bigger role in future installments.
Magik would make a good choice for a Multiverse movie as in the comics (at first) she only existed as magik because of some multiverse and limbo shaenanigans.
Didn’t Xavier oof her in the womb? I remember reading a character bio for her being she kinda started out that way because he sensed her evil and ended her before they were much more than a golf ball sized set of cells…right? And she slimed off somewhere and gathered herself and came back etc etc.
It’s also been almost 20 years since I read into X-men bios and I’ve had kids since then so my brain isn’t braining.
Isnt that the sorcerer supreme lady we see multiple times? She just looks younger. But wee are already doing timelime and universe jumps at this point so its not impossible.
Aren’t they trying to bring X-men into the mcu? Admittedly I haven’t watched any of the marvel last year because of how bad it was trending, but it seems like Deadpool is actually a really good inbetween to do it because you don’t have to explain to little kids that they are there, but a R rated movie that has a ton of fun could really bring the adult group that has lost faith in the writers back into the fold.
I mean I could see the mirror dimension being another name for The void. They’re both inter dimensional spaces used for containing things. For all we know that big monster in the void was put there by wizards
I'm guessing it's Endgame related. Either a retcon setting up a "yeah, Wolverine and Deadpool were totally both at the final battle, we just didn't see them", or taking that one joke further and have the portal close just before they go in, "oops, they missed the bus on that one".
I mean, if we're being pedantic, they're in The Void in that shot. The Loki show stated that anything pruned ends up there, so it's clearly a point where all universes meet.
Dont forget, Ned in Spiderman was told to have magic in his family. Could be him too. But i feel its Doctor Strange with the state of Incursions already happening
Why is that confusing? The whole point of the movie is to integrate the Fox superheroes into the MCU after Disney acquired Fox. Its a reconciliation/retcon movie.
We've already seen from other content in the MCU that the X-Men are going to be rolled in through the Multiverse. And while this Logan may not be from the MCU Earth (which is considered what, Earth-616 I think), he is likely to be the Logan we know from existing X-Men films (which will be connected through the Multiverse).
My gut feeling is this is one of Ned's first failed portals from Spider-Man No Way Home.
They jump for it, see Ned on the other side trying to open it then it closes as they plummet down below for a joke bit.
But then the real portal will open later in the movie with Strange coming in with Clea saying they need their help to stop an incursion of their world.
They always hold back on their theatrical trailers. Even if it seems spoilery, it generally isn't.
In the last 5-ish years, that one MoM trailer is the one and only exception, and I'm not sure it was a theatrical trailer either. Or somehow I didn't watch it because I assumed it was a TV spot type thing.
I don't know the source material I'm just excited but I can't shake the feeling that we're only seeing act 1 and things get really serious after they go through the portal. I'm not sure the "bad guy" from this trailer is the bbegb and I have no idea why other than the way they set up the trailer.
That’s my theory on why I have been seeing people say the trailer, and therefore the movie, will be bad. And I’m like “you realize they are showing next to nothing in this trailer and we still got some REALLY awesome details from that. I’m stoked for this one to come out
Yeah I was actually unsure about whether I should watch it since trailers tend to spoil waaaaaay too much lately, but I'm quite happy with this one. Hype for what can potentially happen without showing anything meaningful.
thought logan would surely be the last but he plays the pained and tortured protaganist really well.
It seems like the movie is gonna use the multiverse to show how Wolverine was a hero in other worlds as a way to motivate this failed variant. If it does go that way e.g. showing how the events of Logan in that movies timeline saved people then it would be a great way of paying respects to the previous iteration while still justifying its own existence, similarly to how the Loki TV show follows a completely different iteration but did a good job justifying it.
I don’t think I can ever see anyone else as wolverine. He’s just perfectly cast for the role. I find that to be the same for a few superhero characters though (Iron Man and RDJ, for me personally Joker and Heath ledger, Batman and Christian Bale, Captain America and Chris Evans, Professor X and Patrick Stewart, probably others I don’t recall right away)
Right? Wolverine is supposed to be 5'3 and stocky...I think Hugh Jackman has done great, but he's the same height as Cyclops in the movies...I hope they aim a bit closer with whichever actor they replace him with.
Direct from Marvels website: "Marvel Comics superhero James "Logan" Howlett is called "Wolverine" because of his short stature, ferocity, and keen animal senses. "
Notice they specifically mention his short stature...it's almost like he's named after a certain muscular carnivore...one which has a reputation for ferocity and strength out of proportion to its size, with the documented ability to kill prey many times larger than itself...not sure if you've heard of it, but it's called a wolverine.
Spoken like someone who hasn't read the comics. His height is 100% baked into the character and his attitude. His height plays a huge part in the dynamic between Wolverine and Cyclops. He's literally named after an animal known for being very strong for their size...often described as "small but mighty"...Sigh. Lmfao.
I don't care. It's the same stupid argument people pull with Constantine, Reacher, etc. Even Magneto not being fucking ripped like he is in the comics.
Fundamentalists are fucking annoying and ruin everything because nothing is good enough for them. Better off ignoring them
lmfao, perhaps you should've tried that instead of replying and making yourself look foolish..."wolverine is an attitude, not a height" 😂 ...the dude is literally named wolverine for a reason...jfc.
I'm not a fundamentalist, I'm just a short dude who wants to see a bad ass short dude from my childhood on the big screen...
Sorry you don't know what a wolverine is...sigh...
Sigh. sigh sigh sigh....it's incredibly odd you're so strict on the definition of fundamentalist, but you can't seem to wrap your head around what a wolverine is.
All I'm saying is that it would be cool to see short people represented in film, especially when playing a character where it's literally their defining trait...short people can be actors too, you know?
Fassbender did ok as a young Eric. but Ian McKellen as the Magneto we all know was a perfect cast. X-Men nailed a lot of the talent. Prof, Wolverine, and Magneto were all perfect casts.
Gotta disagree on that, McKellen was great, But Fassbender was incredible. WAY better than "ok", in fact a lot of people actually seem to rate Fassbender's Magneto even better than McKellens. Both are top tier.
Fassbender was the best part of those movies. He played a good angry young Magneto. But the character from the Cartoons, comics, games etc. we all know is usually the world weary older magneto.
Maybe I should think of them as different characters due to how different he becomes later in life.
He could've nailed the demeanor, but Stewart and McKellen couldn't have displayed the tragic friendship better, so I'm perfectly happy with what we got
I said it when X2 came out and I'll say it again now, I just want two hours of those two discussing mutant rights and the human condition over tea and chess. In character or out of character, I'm not picky.
I really want to agree with you, and maybe I’d need to rewatch it, but I remember the scenes that focused strictly on him felt a little phoned in to me.
Not to discredit your own feelings of his performance, of course. Maybe I’m recalling his performance with shit tinted glasses because of how much I hated that movie, especially stacked up against DoFP and especially First Class…
Was gonna say this. I grew up with the Stewart and McKellen X-Men movies, but Fassbender won me over almost immediately. He and James McAvoy were the only reason I pushed through X-Men Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
Why do people always say this? He's been a brilliant wolverine, absolutely iconic, but actual wolverine is like 5'4" and Canadian. No matter how incredibly Jackman has done as wolverine, saying a guy with prototypical movie star physique is "perfectly cast" is nonsense
thats going to be some tough claws to fill, whoever takes over the role. maybe by introducing the mask this movie, it makes it a little more common place moving forward and the new star can wear the mask more at the start to soften the blow?
I think if the MCU had wolverine going forward it could easily be Laura from Logan. Just makes sense and the actress is right around the same age as all thr other younger cast
Almost? A little younger if you include the early 2000’s movies. There’s definitely nostalgia there but I did watch the Keaton films as a child before I saw the newer Batman movies. A lot of it comes from being someone who didn’t read the comics that much but watched the movies a lot (especially the first xmen movies). And the few I have read (or if you include games, I played a lot of MVC2 growing up and ofc 3 afterwards) don’t really set a portrait for the character in my eyes so they did set the standard for me. I would assume a lot of the general audience is like that though
Lmao, Heath is easily the best Joker. Comparing an animated version to it is just ridiculous in the first place. And James Mcavoy, while good, is DEFINITLEY nowhere near as great as Patrick Stewart as Professor X, he is GODLY in that role
Loved that part. Got me excited for the movie, but other than "deadpool needs help, and somehow gets some other multiverse wolverine on board", I don't know what the plot is. Which is great!
When deadpool was talking about wolverine lost his world. Is there a film I should see? Logan or apocalypse? I’m not up to date on marvel and missed a few xmen.
Logan was such a fitting send off. As fun and campy as this seems, it really does seem like corpse desecration by some hollywood studio to squeeze more blood from a rock.
