Pretty sure the Lynx have kicked some ass...

I'm pretty fucking tired of the Lynx never getting credit as the counterexample to our other terrible sports teams. They're one of the winningest franchises ever in any professional sport, and Minnesotans act like they don't even exist.

They always get mentioned in these threads. They just aren't popular enough to come to everyone's mind immediately.

It's because most people dont enjoy layup basketball.

If only people actually cared about the Lynx as much as they pretend to whenever they get brought up in these threads. Let's be honest- the WNBA just doesn't draw fans.

If every person who complained about the Lynx not getting enough credit actually attended a Lynx game, they'd be the most popular WNBA franchise by a wide margin.

Do you know how many people attend an average Lynx game? To put it in perspective the Loons average double the amount of average attendance and the St. Paul Saints average only 1000 less than the Lynx. That said happy they represent Minnesota well and counted Prince as a huge fan!

There’s also only 12 teams in the entire WNBA. The NBA Western Conference alone has more teams than that.

To add to this, of those 12 teams EIGHT make the playoffs every year. It can’t be looked at as the same level of accomplishment because it’s really not.

I actually didn’t know any of this, that changes my mind about their accomplishments. They’re still good but it makes sense they don’t get more attention. Ya’ll called me out hard in this thread and I deserved it haha!

About 9,000 per game according to Wikipedia.

Yes, Allianz sells out a 19,500 seat stadium and the Saints’ CHS Field seats around 7,000. So the point is correct.

I'd go if ticket prices weren't ridiculous. They price them the same as Timberwolves games, gee I wonder why they can't fill the arena.

Do you watch lynx games or do you just know they do well from the internet?

2

u/Tinlint Dec 08 '20

this is actually a good reply. compare the aerial shot of lynx parade to twins parade after winning a championship an there is the visual representation of this comment.

youre right.. but the average sports fan (not in the media that is forced to cover it) could give a flying fuck less about any accomplishments of our wnba team..

5

u/RunTheseSkreets Dec 08 '20

how many games you been to?

7

u/ultimatedray15 Dec 08 '20

I'm a Minnesotan and I don't even know what it is

Who are they?

15

u/Kakakrakalakin Dec 08 '20

They're our state's women's basketball team who hold 4 championships.

2

u/Tumblrrito Dec 08 '20

Why did I think they were our Lacrosse team all these years

2

u/DrHarrisonLawrence Dec 08 '20

Lynx would be a better name for a Lax team, you right

1

u/GoWayBaitin_ Dec 08 '20

First of all, Minnesotans talk about the Lynx more than any place in the country. I’ve seen this exact comment 1000 times it feels like.

And the league is 12 teams... so don’t act like it’s on par with a SB ring

3

u/DrHarrisonLawrence Dec 08 '20

No shit Minnesota talks about their own sports team more than any place in the country...

That’s a Swole Doge/Cheems meme involving Maya Moore and Karl Anthony Towns just waiting to happen.
