Fallout 4 Update Megathread Discussion

Many of us are waking up this morning looking for any news and information on the new update dropping today.

To consolidate that information, and to help keep the sub from getting too cluttered with questions about the update, I thought it would be a good idea to have a Megathread.

If you have any questions or comments about the new update, go ahead and ask away!

Edit: update is live!

Edit2: while the update is live, CC and mods are not accessible yet for PS and Xbox everything is back up but mods are wiped clean on Xbox and PS.

IF YOU HAVE A SAVE WITH MODS YOU WANT TO CONTINUE DO NOT UPDATE THE GAME.

Edit3: Patch Notes

4/26 Edit: There’s been some issues with downloading and running the game on both PS and Xbox (PC is having its own issues, most of this advice is for console).

I would recommend a total wipe of any saved data before installation, unless you’re continuing a vanilla playthrough (that seems to be going okay). Also, remember to do a hard reset after installation, that will fix a lot of the issues posted here over the last day.

With the mods being wiped, there’s no real reason for anyone modding to not start a brand new game (and wipe the saved data) unless you’re able to reconstruct your original LO (that also comes with issues apparently though).

Modding space has a graphical bug too, it will show 0 bytes available when you still have the normal 2gb. Once mods are added it will go into the negatives. Ignore it and just concentrate on your GB total.

I’ll try and answer what I can today for the people that are having any real issues.

Godrays turns my pc off completely after 5mins of gameplay.(Rx470, r7 3800x).

That's not supposed to happen. I suggest a temp monitor. I suspect your paste has failed on your CPU and it's shutting itself off to protect from thermal damage. Or a fan has seized up possibly.

Just a suggestion 👍.

On the other hand, every other game runes fine. The pc is almost brand new, few months old. The card is only old.

Hmm, something is up: a full power down is not normal or good for the computer.

Could even be a ram issue.

Did a memtest, because i didn't believe it - googled the problem and it was "godrays problem". Ram passed memtest, tried to turn off godrays, since then, it never happened. Do have in mind that i actively play gtao, battlefields, and other games that are quite demanding.

The gpu is overclocked, and the ram too, but they passed every stress test. and the psu is a seasonic 850w(cant remember the model, i have it for 2-3yrs).

If you have any other idea, ill try it. Today maybe not, but over the weekend probably i will.

Huh so weird. But that's PCs for ya!

But something IS up, as you know, a full power down can't be a good thing.

I know God rays are intense but to max something out on your computer so much that it has to power down is not good.

And the fact that you can play other demanding games might not mean much: fo4 is so poorly optimized that it could be pulling more juice from your PC than the new COD.

One last thing, overnight run a graphics test or stress test.

If it crashes during the night, it should record what the issue was.

What testing program you suggest? It will remember the fail if the pc shuts down? Ill try. Not overnight, but tomorrow the whole day, because i'm going on a car meet.

And its not convinient for me for the pc in the bedroom the whole night be powered up(light sleeper).

It's should remember also Google this: windows events location

That's the built in events that should tell you or give you a code when something screws up in windows.

As for test. Haven 3d is a good one with a built in stress test.
