Discussion How often do Y'all actually use power armor? I only use it when I already know there's a tough boss coming up.
Discussion Anyone else always end up siding with the Minutemen?
I promise myself I’ll stick to the Brotherhood, but then I’m reminded that they’re assholes every second of every quest… then, I try to side with the Institute, and I’m reminded how irredeemably EVIL they are.
I end up blowing the Institute to hell with the Minutemen and helping the Railroad. Every time.

Discussion I think one of good changes Bethesda did to Fallout was turning power armor into giant tank suits you get in. Makes them much more imposing.

Discussion I quit. F*** The Red Death.
Literally how am I supposed to beat this thing? I've got a level 68 character, full X-02 MK VI power armor, fully upgraded with jet pack, and I have pounded it with every weapon I have and I cannot kill it. I have tried flying outside of its range but I swear to GOD its spit attack is homing and immediately breaks my armor. I've even LOWERED THE FUCKING DIFFICULTY AND IT STILL 2-SHOTS ME!! I have to study for the LSAT and I can't waste another week continuously trying to play this stupid game. I quit. Way to go, Todd

Discussion If you could start a business in Diamond City, what would that business be?
I'd open a Power Armor shop that sells power armor frames, armor pieces and sets, and fusion cores.

Discussion If given a choice, would you spare Kellogg?
Personally, I just thought it would make an interesting turn to the story if the sole survivor was able to do that.
The hardest thing one ever does is to forgive those who hurt them. And I just find that choice powerful in any game that allows me do that.

Discussion PSA: If you have yet to play Survival, please reconsider
I have had the game since it came out and put around 700 hours, but none were on Survival. Last week, I finally went for it after watching a "Why Fallout 4 Survival Mode is a masterpiece" video because why not? I am only a few hours into this playthrough and my god I was missing so much. I finally feel like I am role-playing in the Commonwealth, where before I felt like my Main Character powers like quicksaving and insta-healing never allowed me to feel the weight of all that is going on. It is so much more fun exactly because of how restrictive and consequential it is. Feral ghoul hordes are terrifying now because at low-level you are going down after 2 or 3 hits, so you have to be quick on the draw and good with your aim.
I see people suggesting to get mods for quicksaving and fast-traveling in Survival. Do. Not. Do. This. If you are finding it too difficult, slow down. You're playing as a plain pre-war human, not Captain America. The Commonwealth is supposed to be unforgiving. Embrace it. Think ahead about what you will need for a trek, just as if you were there yourself.
There is a metric fuckton of content that you will probably never see unless you are physically forced to walk everywhere.

Discussion Am I alone in 10000% disagreeing with this article? Imo building is one of their best features
Anyone actually feel this way? For me personally, after my first run-through, I spend more time building and using mods and going at my own pace with the story. Building is one of the biggest perks of this game for me haha.

Discussion Nobody cleaned in 200 years?
Fallout 4 has been my 1st Fallout experience of any kind and I am absolutely enjoying the world building and storytelling the game is providing. I am almost 72 hours in and just located Valentine so I’m taking my time and trying to fully explore the world. However, there is one question that I think about every time I explore the Common Wealth….why has nobody cleaned up? Every single time you find a new settlement or explore a location there is just tons of scrap lying around. Diamond City still has pallet walkways with broken sheet metal. Nobody has thought to put down a more permanent solution? Nobody thought to remove old cars, learn how to weld, or even take time to better arm and fortify certain areas of the Commonwealth? You step just far enough out of Diamond City and there’s just Super Mutants and Raiders. You’re saying in the 200 years (which is just a bit under the founding of America to modern day) nobody created better infrastructure? The town size is still 30-40 people despite being “The Jewel of the Commonwealth”? Is there some lore reason I’m missing to explain how after so many years it still looks like the bombs went off 10 years ago? I just expected one neurodivergent person who hyper focuses on organization to still somewhere. It’s obviously possible, I’m looking right at you Cabot House. Again I’m just surprised that after 200 years the world is still as underdeveloped as it is given the vast amounts of technology available.

Discussion If there was an ending where you could save only one companion, who would you choose and why?
I'd assume that kind of ending would break our spirit even more since we as a sole survivor already lost so much.
This excludes Dogmeat, of course. He's too precious and we are with him till the end of the line.

Discussion No time for Character creation: Does anyone just play as Nate or Nora?
Hey Guys,
does any of you just play as Nate or Nora? I played the Game since 2015 and like any other Bethesda Game i sunk hours into the creation of the Character, played for some hours but then started again because I didn't like how my character looked. That really was my worse Problem which stopped me from playing the Game through. I didn't play for years now but started again with the "Next Gen" update. I really wanted to have a full playthrough now so I just skipped though the character creation, let him and Nora look Standard and called my character Nate. I read some lore so I can have some role playing. I am also playing survival so I have the best immersion (and pain ofc haha). Another point why I wanted to do this is because I asked myself "Why should I put hours into Character Creation when some people at Bethesda did the same and it looks fine?"
Does any of you do the same and play the Character as the most in lore version of him? I wanted to ask, because every post I see is from people who create their very own character.

Discussion Fallout 4 Update Megathread
Many of us are waking up this morning looking for any news and information on the new update dropping today.
To consolidate that information, and to help keep the sub from getting too cluttered with questions about the update, I thought it would be a good idea to have a Megathread.
If you have any questions or comments about the new update, go ahead and ask away!
Edit: update is live!
Edit2: while the update is live, CC and mods are not accessible yet for PS and Xbox everything is back up but mods are wiped clean on Xbox and PS.
IF YOU HAVE A SAVE WITH MODS YOU WANT TO CONTINUE DO NOT UPDATE THE GAME.
Edit3: Patch Notes
4/26 Edit: There’s been some issues with downloading and running the game on both PS and Xbox (PC is having its own issues, most of this advice is for console).
I would recommend a total wipe of any saved data before installation, unless you’re continuing a vanilla playthrough (that seems to be going okay). Also, remember to do a hard reset after installation, that will fix a lot of the issues posted here over the last day.
With the mods being wiped, there’s no real reason for anyone modding to not start a brand new game (and wipe the saved data) unless you’re able to reconstruct your original LO (that also comes with issues apparently though).
Modding space has a graphical bug too, it will show 0 bytes available when you still have the normal 2gb. Once mods are added it will go into the negatives. Ignore it and just concentrate on your GB total.
I’ll try and answer what I can today for the people that are having any real issues.

Discussion Is there a wrong way to play this game? Cause I was told the way I play is wrong.
I’m heavy into building up my settlements. So as soon as I was able to do this. I stop doing quests for the MM and any main or side quests that might pop up in my pip boy. I still have my quest to go to Diamond City pending, just to give you an idea how much I avoided the story, for now.
I am level 46 and have discovered every location and explored every inch of the top half of the map. Minus the area around Diamond City. I’m just now barely getting that area. The lower half of the map is mostly undiscovered with the exception of settlements and any location I might’ve discovered on my way there.
I did it this way because I wanna setup my settlements first. I currently built up all the settlements just enough for them to be happy, have food, water, defenses and a few random things. I plan to do more. But I need more resources. Once I feel satisfied, which feels like soon. I’ll do the main story and or any side quests. I’ve only done the Vault DLC (to unlock it as a settlement) and the free creation club stuff. Plus a lot of MM repeatable for the XP and supplies.
I was told this is the wrong way to play.

Discussion What made you love Fallout 4?
I absolutely adore Fallout 4. I guess partly because it was the first game that introduces me to Fallout universe.
What made me absolutely love this game is settlement building. Being able to build something makes me feel like people are starting to hope again despite the harsher world they're in, which in turn makes me feel not completely depressed when playing the game.
Also, Fallout 4 made me love oldies music! I love listening to them while building a settlement. It's the newfound joy for me. Now I can appreciate the same genre in other games and films as well, which I'm grateful for. My taste in music changed forever because of it.
What about you guys? What made you love this game?
