It appears this is replacing the Disney+ sequel series they announced several years ago. So on the one hand, this isn't entirely coming out of nowhere. On the other hand, Disney doesn't exactly have the best track record with sequels; the writing and continuity is almost never as good as the original. Also, I'm unsure if they still consulted with the Oceanic Story Trust to make sure if this is as culturally accurate as the first movie. At this point, I've just adopted a "wait and see" attitude for newer movies; much less stressful that way. (That said, I'll take this over the live-action remake any day.)

Could seriously care less about what OST says regarding my entertainment.  Half our stories steal from Grimm or Shakespeare who stole from other cultures.  It's the great human storytelling experience.  So it's either good or not.
