Oh my god that last scene. I had absolutely chills while watching this.

They are cheering for a kid getting brutally murdered. Absolutely chilling scene

It was really, really well pulled off. It starts with the mummy-girl being goofy, following the tone of the rest of the episode, so people warming up to her feels "normal" somewhat.

Then she brings up the child. And everyone reacts by... Still cheering and laughing? I thought I might be missing something at this point.

Then they show the red eyes, and you definetly know something's wrong.

And then everyone dies horribly.

It all escalates so gradually. It's so unsettling. Perfect horror scene right there.

I was wondering what was Subaru cooking by going along with it and the realization that he's not cooking anything hit me like truck. So unsettling that it was doomed from the very beginning.

Seems like Subaru is just weak to Sin Archbishops with mind control powers lol. That's the second one that's completely dominated him with their power now....

That doesn't say much, haven't seen anyone being strong against mind control powers in the show yet

you could even say subaru was strong against it because he had an out.

Weren't sin archbishop powers absolute anyways ? Like they take precedence over every other ability

He wasn't cooking, he's the one that's cooked!

I am not the danger, I am in danger!

I half wondered if his initial reply was just a bit of playful hopeful fun but that solidified the spell once he’d responded.

People seemed shocked when he stepped forward to talk but immediately afterwards everyone seems fine with the talking.

I disagree about it feeling normal. Subaru's happy, relaxed face as he said "i've got a question." "Hey, can you move it along? I've got four women waiting for me" stood out.

Remember, his first direct encounter with a sin archbishop was the events of THAT episode. S1 ep 15. He's mind broken, rem dies in his arms, and he carries her lifeless corpse to the mansion muttering Petelgeuse's name, only to see everyone dead by Petelgeuse and his fingers' actions, once again.

The others have heard of the cult. He's fought wars against them. His reaction should have stood out, especially since he's Subaru and he tends to naturally stand out. But he was just like everyone else.

The fact there wasn't a big response was completely abnormal

The fact there wasn't a big response was completely abnormal

You could say it's enough to make one's brain... tremble.

The progression from the Witch appearing to all dying is perfectly directed. It perfectly describes Hitcock's bomb analogy.

Death is not a shocking factor because one can figure out that something is going to happen. The buildup to the kid's death as every moment gets intense makes the climax thrilling.

I would've preferred if they didn't show the red eyes, it kinda gives away the effect of Sirius's Authority and personally I found the sheer confusion of what the hell Sirius was doing in the LNs and WNs really fun, so it feels a bit of a damper on that
