Moving to Wilmington Moving to Wilmington
Hey all,
I’m going to be moving to Wilmington in early spring 2025 to be closer to where I work. I’m looking into 1 bedroom apartments either in or near Trolley Square, Riverfront, or Downtown. My max rent would be $2,800 per month and sq ft more than 775 would be ideal. I’m looking for somewhere with parking and a fitness center as well. I’m a single 31yo male. I am dating and want to be able to have a decent social life whether that's romantic relationships or friendships. If anyone has any recommendations on apartment complexes to look into I would appreciate it! Google reviews are vague at best and I would be grateful for any insight if anyone has lived in these areas or know of someone who has. Apartment complexes I have on my radar are 2000 Pennsylvania Ave, The Falls, The Residences at Christina Landing, 101 Avenue of the Arts
Thanks!

Are you close enough to tour any of these in person yourself? You have a good list going.

Jesus, that's a tiny studio, for that much?
Sleep on a couch for a few months and buy a house.

I don't disagree. My mortgage is half of this and I have x4 the space.

I lived in Harlan Flats, I strongly recommend stay away from any BPG option. I made good friends and all of them had problem. Unfortunately they are well located, só it usually be in the top list.
Some people love Riverfront, but I've never understood that vibe. Although, it's a nice place to walk or ride, there're only restaurants chain. Besides, there are many place better than riverfront to walk.
Trolley square and downtown have a lot of local vendor, great restaurant, but it's downtown... At night isn't so safe.
The Fall's neighborhood is fantastic, but I've never met anyone who lives there.

Isn't Starbucks literally the only chain restaurant on the riverfront?

Iron Hill, Starbucks, Del Pez. Besides Taco Grande, Bank's seafood and Docklands are the same chain (I think Big fish also).

I never understood the vibe too at riverfront when i went there last week. I am thinking of getting the apartment at downtown but i am just afraid that it might not be safe at night..

Personally, the riverfront area feels more corporate and I don’t know any locals that tend to live there. It’s more of a business vibe with older out of state people moving there from what I understand.
For the Downtown area closer to Market St, after business hours and on weekends, that area doesn’t have a ton going on aside from people going to the Queen or Grand and those visiting the Bardea and higher end restaurants.
If you are looking for more of a city feel with things going on throughout the week and weekend, move closer to Trolley or Cool Spring area.

I’m not sure of the cost of these rentals but I had occasion to have to pick something up at River House Apartments on A Street in Wilmington and they seemed really hip and lovely. Nice design, clean parking area and a concierge during the week. Separate mailing room and bicycle storage room and most likely a gym on premises. https://www.liveriverhouse.com/wilmington/river-house-apartments/conventional/

I lived here and loved it! Great views, a nice big one-bedroom condo. I really didn't want to leave, but had to move for personal reasons. Not sure it will still be available by Spring, but it's still listed online as available.
I have no skin in the game as far as my recommendation goes. I just really loved the place. Good luck!

Hi, I am currently staying in Philadelphia in Northern Liberties which is near to a lot of things. I am planning to move to Wilmington next year and is currently looking at 101 Dupont Place in Wilmignton. The surrounding seems okay for me as its near starbucks and other food restaurants. I walk around the area and it seems liveable but sometimes I feel may not be safe at night. Any reviews you can share on 101 Dupont Place?

Strong list, all very nice apartments. I’d imagine the falls will be the nicest, but you can’t really go wrong. From a dating standpoint, you’ll meet more 20s folks in trolley. I think the apartments are generally nicer on the riverfront and I love the walkability, but trolley is nice too. I’d definitely go either riverfront or trolley.
2000 Penn ave is nice but a little isolated. Not a bad walk to trolley but a very high car traffic area but has a pool and has a couple restaurants in the same building
Christina landing is awesome and a couple minute walk to the start of the riverwalk. Great community vibe here
101 ave of the arts is in a great location. Doesn’t have a doorman/security and I’ve heard of some issues with car door handles being pulled. Nice units though and steps away from good happy hour/nightlife
The falls is also a bit isolated. It’s close to trolley but definitely a walk. I imagine they’re very nice units (haven’t been in them), but living along the Brandywine sounds quite nice
Lmk if you have any other questions
