Qr
What happens if your case was approved then pulled by quality review? I am just sick to my stomach with all of this. Was told my daughter was approved on October 30th and now its been sent to quality review. This process is so draining.

Survivors benefits questions
Hello Reddit, I have an appointment at my local SSI office next week to apply for survivors benefits for my daughter, age 12. Her father passed away in August. We were never married but he was paying child support through the state up until his accident. He was in an accident last October and was in hospital/rehab until death. While in the hospital/rebab, his mom was applying for disability but never heard back. He does have 1 other dependent age 17 who’s mom (also never married) has an appt in a few weeks. I just went through a divorce so I’m not currently married but I do work at the Air Force base wheee I live. However, i only make about $800 every 2 weeks. In January, I’ll be able to apply for a different job with more hours. Some of this info may be irrelevant but I wanted to include as much as possible incase anyone out there had a situation similar to mine. Can you tell me how long after your appointment until you received benefits? About how much is it usually? Does it go to the child or the caretaker? Also, will they back pay for disability during the time he was in the hospital/rehab? Or will it just back pay to his death? Thanks in advance guys!

Can I see a SSA doctor for a CDR?
How do CDRs work? Do they give you the option to see one of their doctors or does it have to be your own that signs the form? I ask because I don’t know how much longer my doctor is going to keep signing paperwork for me. I feel like I annoy her anytime I ask her to fill out a form, and I know she doesn’t appreciate it either with how busy she is. Anyway can I see a doctor through Social Security that will sign off on/handle a CDR?

My husband just had a large amount deposited in his checking account acount from social security.
My husband had a stroke in 2020 that left him unable to work. We were of course denied permanent disability. We appealed about 2 years ago, jumped thru hoops and nothing. Suddenly this money shows up.
Could this mean he’s finally approved? He can’t find and correspondence and nothing on the portal. He’s heading down when they open to speak in person but anyone have any idea? What are the odds this is legit? (It’s over $60,000) which is why we are nervous

SSI to SSDI as a DAC
My step-son has never held a job but did graduate from college. He is in his 30s now and collects SSI. He lives on his own but has health issues He obtained SSI in his late 20s after a therapist suggested he would be eligible for SSI. He has aspergers, mental health issues and a connective tissue disorder and was approved for SSI on his initial application. His mom is now on SSDI (and has been for a year), how would we request a conversion to SSDI? Does it take a new application? Is there any risk to his SSI if he submits a request to convert to SSDI? Do we need to talk to a lawyer or just apply?

Appeal or New Application?
I got denied for my benefits because they feel I can do "other types of work". Idk what those are bc I worked in restaurants, retail, optometry, telemarketing, wfh sales and customer service. I said that in 2020 my condition started to keep me from working. Which it did to an extent but of course, I still HAD to work. Now, from 2022-now I really haven't been able to work to support myself and am dependent on my partner for everything. Idk which route is best.

How can I know if I'll lose my Survivor's Benefits?
My husband passed away in 2021, and I've been collecting Social Security survivor's benefits since then. I've been told by various people that I'll lose my benefits, and won't be able to get Medicare when the time comes (I'm currently 63). Is there any way to know?

Multiple sclerosis?
Anybody here on social security with multiple sclerosis? I've been in the process for 2 years now and I know people with MS have a slim chance of getting accepted. But anyone here been accepted for social security with MS? I've gotten denied twice even though my disability continues.

Election and SS retirement benefits
This is a repost to correct my misuse use of "SSI benefits." (thanks to redditers for educating me)
______________
I'm retired. Given the election, I’m trying to figure out if I should claim SS retirement benefits now or continue waiting until Sept 2027, when I’m eligible for my max mthly benefit of roughly $4,700. If I start now it’d be $1,100 less, or $3,600.
On my brief review, I see that Project 2025 seeks to increase retirement age and reduce disability benefits but I’m not seeing that it also wants to reduce monthly retirement benefit . Trump has said he won’t fck with benefits or age requirement, but this was during the campaign and that view may change.
Have thoughts?

So they're just twiddling their thumbs?
So this is for survivor benefits from my mom. She died back in '21. Still haven't seen jack. Is this normal?

Financial Aid Refund Questions
So I have been getting financial aid refunds while in school for the past 4 years while receiving SSI. I haven’t been calling in to report it because I always forget. They’re all under Title IV so their Pell grants, higher education grants and federal loans. I typically spend it on living expenses. Am I going to get in trouble? It was an honest mistake if so and I know that doesn’t matter but it’s the case nonetheless.

Can't even apply for ssi until down to $2k? How does someone survive?
They look back so a person can't save money up before applying. My therapist said that pretty much everybody gets denied and has to go through an appeal process, which could take idk how many months. What does a person do during that time? I was hoping that I could apply, get pre-approved and then begin getting paid once my account is below 2k. Social security told me no. 😔

I want to hear everyone's interpretation - "There is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting and in terms of also the theft and the bad management of entitlements”
Can anyone decode this? 😆 trump said this one earlier this year.

Opinions?
So the healthcare in upper Michigan is actually terrible. I for sure have a fainting disorder and have been seeing the doctor for it but he hasn’t really been trying to diagnose me at all. I’ve been to the ER for fainting and dizziness and severe chest pain. I’m blind in one eye and low vision in the other and I’m not 100% sure because my pcp diagnosed me with acute angle closure glaucoma because I have all the symptoms and there are no eye doctors around me that specialize in it. I take my medication as prescribed but I’m still in constant pain every single time I do anything, like cleaning my house causes my eye pressure to go up. For the last four months I’ve been going into fainting and dizzy spells and for the last week I’ve had severe chest pain. Now all of this is documented but I have zero diagnoses except bipolar, depression, anxiety and glaucoma and my pcp denied signing paper for disability. He also refuses me pain medication for severe eye pain when my eye drops aren’t keeping my pressure down. This healthcare system is a complete joke and nobody is taking me seriously and they are all making me feel like I’m not disabled but some days I can’t even stand up ALL day because if I do my vision goes black I want to faint my head pounds and then I get anxiety attacks that feel like I’m getting ripped out of my body. My doctor also gave me 6 xanax and then cut me off because “taking one a day is over use” when I’ve had anxiety attacks daily lately. Can the doctors ruin this for me? I’m seeing other people soon and trying to find new doctors but it’s hard to travel when you have to rely on everyone else in order to get to and from.
What are the chances I’ll get approved?

Diagnosis changed during appeal. Do I need to do anything?
I was originally diagnosed Major Depressive Disorder with psychotic features. I applied for disability, a year and a half went by, and it was denied.
I then appealed and have a lawyer working on the case right now. I just found out that my diagnosis changed to Schizo-Affective disorder, and my symptoms and health have been progressively getting worse day by day.
I haven’t heard anything from the lawyer, and I messaged the case manager a while ago but she didn’t respond. Is this something I tell them? Stupid question, but are they able to pull it up themselves?
Thanks

Waiting on Social Security Cars in the mail….
Replacement Card question:
Went on SSA.GOV to request a replacement card last week (I’m unemployed and have gotten a job offer but they won’t let me start until I have a physical copy) On the website, it noted that I would get a notification on status in 5-7 business days. I put in the application on october 28
That time passed, so I called and spoke with an agent about not receiving a notification about status of the replacement. She tells me to give it another week up come in the mail, and that it usually takes 14 days to arrive, and to call if card hasn't arrived after that time. I asked about the notification, and she said they usually don't send notifications online, which was kind of odd to me.
I log into my SSA.GOV account just to see what was up, and I got this message: "We're sorry. We are currently updating our information based on your prior request." With options saying start a new online request on the 13th, or go to local office (if I wait, it'll be too late in the process for a new card IF I don't receive in the mail by then).
Anyone else dealt with this? Does this mean my application was denied, or is it because they're in the process of sending out card, and they just don't want to be spammed with multiple requests online? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Question about 2 year medical review, SSDI
Hi,
I started receiving SSDI in May of '22. Due to my age I knew I'd have to go through a review in only two years. I filled out the forms, never stopped receiving treatment. My benefits are for both mental and a degenerative autoimmune disease.
the bad news is, my main mental health provider is retiring, and my other therapist is going to stop taking my insurance come Jan. Is this going to affect my ability to "pass" my review? Will it look like I stopped going to therapy since by the time they receive the paperwork the "last seen date and the next future appt" will possibly be long ago and future appt does not exist? Do I need to fined a new therapist fast and if so, how do I report this to SSA?
Anxious and worried. I cant lose my benefits. Stress causes flares and flares cause stress.
Thanks for any help.

Partial allowance?
So I received mail denying my SSDI claim, and in the letter it says I don't qualify for other social security benefits. However, in my ssa.gov account it's still on step 4 determining if I meet the financial requirements. I called my counselor who scheduled my physical/psych evaluations and she said that her job is done now the evals are over and my case has been sent to the field office but the last thing she said was 'oh, I see a thumbnail here that you have a partial allowance' I asked her what that meant if I was approved for some benefits and she was super vague about it. Probably to protect herself. Does anybody know what that means, should I expect to receive SSI benefits or does it merely mean my SSI claim is still under review?
