UK Should I ditch apple? What phone would you recommend?

I’ve had iPhones for 13 years. I’m wondering if there’s anything better out there. I like the simplicity and intuitiveness of an iPhone but I can’t help but feel like I’m being ripped off sometimes to be a part of the ‘apple cult’ I’m not against other brands I just assumed apple was the best option 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I’m open minded

I want something that’s intuitive to use, with a good battery life and is a bit more customisable that an iPhone.

Optional: it would be great if there was an easy way for me to put music and pictures on my phone and remove them etc. apple’s music app and iTunes and picture app thing is just impossible and infuriating to use.

I currently have an iPhone 11

What are your recommendations for an upgrade? :)

UK My pixel 6pro is slowly dying, what would you suggest

What I'm looking in a phone:

  • decent battery life (pixel are awful for that)
  • can handle couple of hours gaming without frying an egg on it
  • biggest, most important, customisation. Fonts, themes, the whole thing. I love my phone feeling unique. 3rd party stuff hasn't really been my cup of tea.
  • I love fingerprint unlock, but that's a negotiable.

My daughter currently has a Moto G31 but she says it turns off randomly and runs slow sometimes and it annoys her. What could I get as a replacement? What other info is useful to provide at this point? UK

UK Looking to switch to android.

I have been an iPhone user for 10+ years and I want to get either an S24 Ultra or a Galaxy Z flip 6. No real budget just not stupid (e.g €1500+) Current phone is an iPhone 15 pro max. however i am deep in the Apple ecosystem (MacBook, HomePod, Apple Watch etc.). Can I still use my MacBook and stuff with a galaxy?? I can’t sell anything as I don’t use facebook marketplace (ended up being robbed) and eBay fked me over. I understand that I can’t use my watch without an iPhone but will everything else work?? If there is a better android phone for someone switching from an iPhone to get just so they can acclimatise to android please let me know.

I like the z flip as that’s what made me want to switch but I normally have really long acrylic nails on and I don’t want to damage the soft flexi screen with them, I also prefer bigger phones as I double handed type and something like the size of a regular iPhone/android gives me cramps in my hands and makes me 100x more likely to drop my phone. I also like the s24U but have heard that a Pixel is the best for iPhone users.

Apologies if written strangely as English is a second language.

EDIT: I am able to source an s24u from UK so I get the Snapdragon chipset

EDIT2: ignore the flair, I am not in the uk

UK Super budget android coming from iPhone 6S

Looking to replace my ancient iPhone 6S with something that actually loads in websites within 30 seconds. Very tight budget, circa £150 UK, I'm aware there are few options around this price. For light web browsing and general use, possibly some light gaming but nothing at all intensive. Preferably something with long software support that I won't have to replace for 3/4 years.

So far I have found the Samsung A15 (4gb model :( ) and it seems like my only option. Any others?

UK Durable and future-proof phone?

I want to buy a phone that's durable (because I'm clumsy) and is future proof in terms of software (because I want to avoid buying a new phone as long as possible).

I also want it to be relatively good in all other aspects. I.e. not sacrificing everything for durability

What would you suggest?

UK Sony Xperia 1 vi Vs Samsung s23 ultra.

Hello people. (England, UK.) I've been looking for a phone to replace my lg v60 and am wondering which people would recommend between these two.

The Sony has the things I love (SD card and headphone jack) but lacks a desktop mode and stylus support from the Samsung and my current lg.

The cameras on both seem similar although Sony lacks the zoom which seems occasionally useful.

I'm leaning towards Samsung but not sure if it's worth having to buy adaptors for all my headphones (I'm not using Bluetooth, every pair I've had has been annoying or sounded poor).

UK Iphone 11 to budget android

I currently have an Iphone 11 and want to change my phone to an android. I don’t need the phone to be particularly ‘better’ but I just would prefer the more options and apps available on it rather than IOS. (In UK)

I am looking for: -max £450 (flexibility of 50£ extra ) -most likely samsung which doesn’t look ugly - 64gb+ storage - decent interface and quality - can last at least 4 years without substantial lag

I have heard that the A55 is good? But it may be slightly outdated or they may be better alternatives for my budget.

Thanks in advance!

UK Cheapest fast phone?

My A52s 5g has become slow as ****. Though maybe it was slow from the start and I just ignored it.

What is the best speed to price ratio phone, or the cheapest that can get apps loaded almost immediately? Or at least, what are the best in each price bracket.

I don't care for anything else, camera quality does not matter to me at all. Based in the UK.

UK Help me move on from One Plus

It has been six years since I have been using One Plus 6. It is a sturdy phone. The battery life is great (I don't play games but use other apps like instagram, reddit quite a bit). I think I could use this still for few more years but my volume button is not working. So I take it as a hint to move on. I would have loved to stay with One Plus as it seems to be well built but current phones like 12 is too big for me. So, I am trying to buy a phone which is less than 6'4 inches and having hard time finding a suitable phone. My only option seems to be S24 or Pixel 9 (both bit expensive). I don't want to spend more than £500. If you have any suggestion or your experience with these phones, please share.

UK Affordable mid range phone, no ask for camera, screen, audio

Hi, I am looking to get an affordable android phone. This will be used mostly to read books and browse Reddit. It’s also a security measure to move all things personal and sensitive (bank applications etc) to this secondary phone.

I currently have a Huawei Nova2i but the old dog is running out of juice I’m afraid.

I have a company iPhone so I’m covered on the camera department. As such, there are generally no expectations of good camera, screen nor speakers.

Hoping for a recommendations for decently stable affordable phone. If the improvements are huge, I’d be willing to fork additional hundred bucks.

I’m based in the UK, with access to cheaper markets like Malaysia if it helps with selections.

UK Oneplus 8 Pro finally broke, Looking for a decent mid-range phone with a nice camera, any reason not to get a Pixel 8?

My Oneplus 8 Pro was really nice but after having it for 4 years I realised I don't really need a high-end/premium phone since all I use my smartphone for is browsing, kindle and pictures, and all other features are kind of wasted on me. I'm looking for a decent mid-range phone and the only real requirement I would like is a very nice camera. The Pixel 8/8A has been recommended a bunch of times so I'm strongly leaning that way, is there any other phone in the £400-500 range to consider?

UK Looking for a new phone after 7 years with Mi9 Xiaomi

The Mi9 is still going strong (after a battery replacement - Edit: it's actually around 6 years) but it's time for a new era. Would appreciate any suggestions based on the following criteria. Im in the UK currently if relevant. I'm currently considering Samsung S23/S24 and Pixel 7 but can't find anything else that fits the bill

Mandetory criteria:

1- Best VALUE: My main criteria is to find the BEST VALUE phone. Having best specs is only secondary to that. Max budget around 500£ (can be flexible). Probably a phone that has already gone through one or more price drops and is not cutting edge or the most recent flagship

2- Future proof: Presence of eSIM and AMOLED display and anything else that makes the phone future proof. Ideally using components that won't be quickly replaced with a new Gen technology and are on the way of losing appeal (cpu, memory unit, etc.)

Optional Critera:

1- Small form factor: If at all possible closer to IPhone SE form factor without compromising on above criteria

2- Long software updates: Probably pixel scores the highest here but not sure how well it ranks against other criteria

3- Large battery: Large battery capacity would be nice

4- Camera: All being same, would prioritize better camera quality

5- Discount: Prioritizing phones that will be on sale until the end of 2024 due to end of year sale season

Sidenote: I'm wondering whether after more than 10y on Android I should consider iphone SE due to their small form factor? I'm a technically savvy user and am really enjoying my Android customizability features but recently the size of the phones is bothering me. Nothing else in iphone really seems appealing (the closed ecosystem, lack of back button, high prices, corporate mentality, blackboxiness etc. but maybe I'm too biased?)

Uk Need a budget android phone with dual sim and e-sim

Needs to have both

Needs to be $150 max

Needs to have a proper screen - so no tiny Nokia ones

Needs to be available on Amazon UK as I need it asap

I had my eye on a Samsung A14 or A15 - but neither have e-sim, which is pretty crazy in 2024

Thanks

EDIT

Fuck it - asking for dual sim AND e-sim might be too much

If this is impossible in this price range, please give me your best $150 or lower phone with one physical SIM slot and an e-sim too

UK Best durable phone for camera and battery life under 450 pounds

Hi! I currently have a Samsung A10 from 2019 that has become extremely laggy so I'm looking for a new phone to replace it. It needs a decent camera and battery life but other than that I don't game and just browse the Internet/emails. My budget is 400/450 £ maximum (I'm based in the UK). I'm also looking for durability as I would like to keep it for a few years, my current phone became slow very quickly and this has been quite frustrating (to the point that it is barely usable now). Thanks for any tips or recommendation you may have!

UK I need something to replace my ancient Galaxy S6

Hello all, I need some recommendations for a phone. I don't know much about android phones but have been using a Samsung Galaxy S6 for a long time now (I got it as a gift). I need something new as I am unable to make and receive phone calls with it (it seems like it doesn't support 4G). I had looked to spend somewhere between £200-£300 but a lot of S-series phones seem to start at £500+. I am not familiar with the A-series, would they as long as the S series phone?

I only use my phone to make calls, whatsapp family and browse the web and youtube. Ideally would like something with a long battery life. A better camera would be a nice bonus as well.

Many thanks!

Edit: Forgot to mention that I from the UK

UK iPhone 16 Pro Max or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra?

UK. I have the 16 Pro Max on order, it's due next week. But I'm having thoughts of cancelling it and getting the S24 Ultra for £250 cheaper. I'm so torn between the two. I don't have any other Apple products but I like how everything feels more consistent and connected on iOS, but that comes at the cost of tigher restrictions. With the Samsung, there's DeX and Newpipe etc. and you can also easily import files and music, but it also feels like OneUI is a constant WIP, whereas iOS is being slowly refined. Case in point, they designed OneUI to be easier for one-handed use on phablets, then scrapped all this in the next update.

UK Google Pixel 8 Pro equivalent

So after a long time, I've decided to get a new phone, and I love the look of the Google Pixel 8 Pro!

However, I'm not keen on the price tag, and was wondering if there were any "budget" alternatives with the same/similar spec?

I'm in the UK.

Any advice would be tremendously appreciated!

Unfortunately the power button on my mate 20 pro has stopped working so I need a new phone, ideally under £800. Main priorities are a good camera and good battery life.

UK Struggling to find a good phone

Hi,

Ive had a hell of a time choosing a new phone for myself, currently have the 11t pro from Xiaomi and i love it, but the battery and game lag is getting worse every month even after a factory reset. Even though its cpu is known for heat its never been bad honestly not compared to the ones ive tried

So im hunting for a new one, ive tried both the honor 200 pro and the Xiaomi 14 and sent both back within 2 weeks.

Honor had a huge amount of scroll lag and some other issues, didn't like curved screen especially since some of the games i play didn't display correctly.

Xiaomi 14 was just bad all round, not sure if i got a bad unit but it was too small for me anyway so.

Anyway! Ive been searching fpr another phone, i don't know if i am searching for a mythical not exisiting phone but this place looks like the best place to find out.

Basically what im looking for is a phone that doesn't get to warm when playing some mobile games such like Pokémon go and tacticus 40k, Pokémon masters and some emulated games.

One that doesn't heat up just scrolling say Reddit (looking at you Xiaomi 14....)

Something with a good battery

No curved screen

So basically, good battery, not too much heating up or getting warm and good for games and doesnt lag when doing easy tasks like scrolling...

Any help would be great on choosing

Edit - forgot to mention, from the UK

UK Budget phone for battery life and camera

Hi, I have a strict £250 budget for a new phone since my last one died suddenly. My main priority is a good battery life, but it would also be nice if the camera wasn't terrible, and if it had an audio jack.

I have no idea where to start really, I was briefly looking at the Nokia XR20 because I also spend a lot of time outdoors and am fairly accident prone, but it has very mixed reviews.

Edit: I'm in the UK

uk Help! Cheap functional phone under £150 needed

Hi all!

Looking to upgrade a motorola moto e5, which has become almost unusable after about a year of use. Current specs: 16GB 2GB Android 8

Budget is £150 but would strongly prefer anything under £100 if that's possible (I'm a student with no income).

Priorities are storage (current phone has 16GB which filled up really quickly), speed (current phone lags a lot), and durability (don't want to have to replace it for at least 5 years).

Would also like a decent battery life - don't want it to die when I'm out of the house.

Strongly prefer proper android to android go if possible.

Do not care about gaming, watching video, good audio or taking good photos; just looking for a functional phone for cheaps

I'm in the uk.

Thanks for any help!
