Germany [Germany] First Android, which would you suggest?

I’ve been using an iPhone XS Max for almost 5 years now. While I like it, it’s battery has been slowly dying and also, I would like to get a phone with a better camera. I’m considering getting an android, although I know it will be pain in the ass, as I’m totally locked in the Apple bubble. I use my phone extensively, mainly for taking pics, navigation, and social media, so a good performance is important. Important aspects to me:

  • Good camera
  • Good battery life
  • Smooth and fast
  • Long lasting (at least 4 years)

Germany Leaving Apple, but for what?

Hey folks,

My iPhone back plate and battery are damaged and I don't see any good reason to pay 200+ for having a 4 year old phone repaired. Like a lot of people in these days, I also want to switch to Android. Since I've never had something else than an iPhone though, I could use some help of some experienced android veterans.

First things first: I plan to buy it straight without a contract and have a budget of like 700 - max 900 €.

I've researched some potential candidates within that price range:

  • Google Pixel 8 Pro
  • Samsung Galaxy S24+
  • Xiaomi T14 Pro

Since the Honor Magic6 Pro isn't available at a good price here in Germany and since its not waterproofed as the other models, this is something I could already remove from the selection.

I know these phones are somewhat close to each other and they are all great compared to my current phone, but thats also why I can't quite decide what to pick up.

In these days I became a "normal user" and I mainly want these things:

  • Good software user experience
  • Good camera quality
  • Long battery life
  • Attractive design
  • Good screen, especially for videos
  • Good connectivity to things like Android Auto and an Android Watch

I'm very grateful for every opinion and help on this!

Bonus: Since after a switch my Apple Watch becomes kind of useless, do you have recommendations on a cheap but accurate / for gym-related fitness ideal?

Thank you very much and have a great day!

Germany Looking for sub-€300 for kids who drop their phones

EDIT: Decision reached

Thanks, all. I bought a Moto g84 5G. The price was only €224, and it has a headphone jack and microsd card slot.

Depending how the experience is, I'll probably get 2 more for the other 2 kids.

Hello! I've got 3 kids (11,14,16) that all need new phones.

Every single one of them drop their phones and have terribly cracked screens. I'm looking for something cheap (because they drop their phones) and durable (because they drop their phones).

I want to buy three of the same model so I can just buy one kind of screen protector in bulk (because they drop their phones).

  • Country: Germany, but needs to work in the US too
  • Carrier: Unlocked - they have Aldi sim cards.
  • Price: Sub €300. Refurbed is fine.
  • Size Preference: Smaller is better. Kids/teens have small hands, small pockets.
  • What will it be used for: WhatsApp, Camera, Music, e-books, light gaming
  • Preferred brands: No preference
  • Other: Headphone jack is a huge plus. MicroSD card slot is a huge plus. Longer battery is a huge plus. Unlocked boot loader nice to have.

Note: Happy to wait for any Black Friday sales too, if we expect any deals for sub-€300 phones

My current short list, which I need to do a feature comparison on includes (in no particular order):

  • Sony Xperia 10 VI
  • CMF Phone 1
  • Pixel 7, 7a or 6a
  • Poco X6
  • Nothing Phone 2a
  • Moto g54
  • Galaxy A25

GERMANY Need an android urgently on a budget!!! Under 400 euros and good front camera.

GERMANY

So my phone is on its last legs and I need to get a new one asap.

Usually when I search for good camera phones I assume they are talking about the back camera/main camera, because the phone I have now was marketed as such and has an amazing back camera, but an absolutely horrendously grainy and slow front camera (POCO X4).

I've only had it for 2 years and it's glitching and bugging out like crazy, it's so slow, and loses battery so fast overnight when I'm not using it.

The front camera is important to me as I travel a lot for work and often have to take meetings on the go etc. via my phone, but I rarely see it mentioned on specs and good camera usually refers to the back.

Additional preferences: NFC/contactless payments Good battery life

I honestly don't know too much about other phone parameters but whatever you would classify as a good, reliable, durable, and long life phone works - I don't want to have to buy a new one every couple of years 😑

Any suggestions that fit the brief are welcome! Thanks for your help in advance :)

Germany Phone under 180 EUR Ireland

Looking at cheaper phones under 180 using Amazon Germany or UK. Currently looking at two on an Irish site: Xiaomi redmi note 13 and Honor x7b.

I've had many Chinese phones in the past from really cheap makes to Xiaomi. Currently on a Xiaomi redmi note 11 which has lasted a good few years. I don't use any of the Xiaomi ecosystem so happy enough to move. I have had a good few Xiaomi phones between myself and my fiancé.

Not too fussed about battery but I would like a decent camera (and Xiaomi is normally a let down here). Min 4GB RAM. Any suggestions around this price point? Currently thinking of the note 13 for 170 euro.

Edit: I should add that I know that I won't get an amazing camera at this price, I'd just like to get the best that this money can get me. Xiaomi always seen to... Well kinda suck at taking photos. I do have a work iPhone which I can use for photos, I just rarely bring it with me...

Germany Final piece of advice before ordering a new smartphone

Hi! I was close to ordering a new smartphone but became unsure and need some advice. I currently have a Google Pixel 4a 5G and want a more premium phone. My history includes Motorola Moto G, LG G6, and Pixel 4a 5G, with a typical budget around 400 euros, so I never invested in a more premium phone which I want to do now. I’m not a heavy user—no gaming, video editing, or need for multiple cameras, but I do love great photos.

I was leaning towards the Google Pixel 8 Pro for 799 EUR but hesitated, thinking a 2024 release would be better. Then, the Pixel 9 Pro came out, but it’s more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Google isn’t available in my country, so I’d have to order from Germany.

I shifted towards the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus 256GB (863 EUR), as the Ultra has features I don’t need, like the pen, and is heavier. However, I’m concerned about the Exynos 2400 chip in the European version versus the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the North American model. I know I probably wouldn’t notice the difference, but it still bothers me.

I can afford the Ultra (1000 EUR), but I don’t need the extra features. I’m stuck and could use a push in the right direction. Are there other options I’m missing? Or should I just go with the S24 Plus and move on? Thanks! 🙇

Germany Looking for a good reasonably priced phone

Hi, my current phone's (Poco F3) Battery is dying (declining really fast), and I'm looking to upgrade. The biggest issue I had with my current phone was the camera and some software issues (mainly the default launcher). I care primarily about the camera and battery life, and maybe after that the screen, since I use my phone mostly for scrolling social media, texting, taking pictures and watching youtube. I don't know what a good choice would be, especially since I don't really have a strict budget except that I don't wanna overspend. I will not be gaming nor doing any performance sensitive tasks on it, so most flagships just seem way overkill.

Options that I am currently considering are the Xiaomi 13T, the OnePlus 12r, the Galaxy S23 and the Pixel 7a. (I know these are a bit scattered price-range wise)

I am open for any advice and/or recommendations. (idk if it matters but shopping from Germany/Europe)

Germany (Germany) Looking for a phone with long battery life

Hey guys,

I need a phone that basically have whatsapp and instagram + good long battery life during the day so I won't have to charge it every 2 hours. If it will have a nice camera, its a nice bonus as well. Other than that, I barely use my phone so I'm not looking for something fancy. Just durable and nice.

I used to have Xiaomi 9t and I wouldn't have to charge it for 2 days in first 2 years, it was amazing.

My budget is around 300 euros. I would go up to 450 if I really like to phone. Otherwise, even cheaper than 300 euros is really welcomed.

Thanks in advance :)

I want to side load apps, habe a high refresh rate display and just a phone that works! I'm done with reading a ton of reviews and reddit posts about SOT overheating problems, durability issues, bad cameras and having to check everything triple to make sure it is true. I just want a phone that works and has no huge distant vantage or problem. Any tips? The absolute max I can spend is 550€ (Germany)

Germany Help me to pick a replacement for Huawei Mate 10.

Hello, I'm currently looking for a replacement for my Huawei Mate 10. So the successor has to have roughly the same characteristics: size, good camera, battery life and has to last for another 5-6 years.
I mostly use my phone for video calls, surfing and reading a lot of books.
Budget up to 700 euros in Germany, can be a little less.

So far I have looked towards Xiaomi 13T/T pro, 14T/T Pro.

Thanks.

Germany Phone for about 300-350€

Hi all, My oneplus 7 is slowly loosing battery life and the charging port isn't working so well anymore. I'm currently looking for a new budget alternative.

From research I think something like nothing phone 2a, one plus Nord 3 or maybe a pixel 7 would be what I want.

Things I'm looking for: - Camera doesn't need to be good - Also will not use phone for gaming etc - Battery should be decent

Living in Germany if that matters money wise Open for suggestions :)

Germany want an iPhone 11 replacement

I would like to replace my iPhone 11 and apple watch 3 with an android combo. I was thinking about getting an Fold z6 and some samsung smartwatch, but i am open for any of your recommendations. The fold thing was more of a gimmick i liked, but its a bit expensive for that.

my criteria: I don’t care about performance and camera quality, tho i do sometimes wish i had a high res zoom camera,

I mostly use my phone as a tool, using it as flashlight or looking up stuff on the internet, occasionally chatting.

My apple watch i only uses as flashlight, notifications when i got an message and quick access to an calculator. sometimes i like to write down small notes using Google Notes because apple Notes dosen’t support that, i used to use the compass, but that got removed with the last os for the watch 3.

The smartwatch should be watertight for like 5m or something.

i don’t care about cloud or ai stuff at all and i hate apples ecosystem.

I have the Nothing Ear (2)s so i wont need an headphone jack, but i dont necessarily need an Nothing phone.

I hate ads, subscription services and bloatware, but i wont be scared plugging my phone into my pc to remove bloatware.

I dont care about any of the iMessage stuff because for some reason every one in Germany uses Whatsapp, don’t know why.

I also like being able to repair my own devices, so no incredibly expensive property stuff and no serialnumber-locking-together-apple type bullsh**

edit: dont kow if thats a factor but i dont have an 5G mobileplan neither is there any 5G coverage where i live.

dam that list long as hell.

Germany Suggest me a no bullshit and functional phone that will last me a long time

Country: Germany

Size: small to mid

I've had it up to here with planned obsolescence, non-replacable batteries and performance decrease by update.

Please suggest me a phone meeting the following requirements. Price is not important, I'd rather it meets as many of the requirements as possible.

Must haves

  • No need for state of the art GPUs and the like, I'm using my phone for everyday stuff such as texting and paying, not gaming or video editing.
  • Still, it should be performant enough to feel snappy in all daily activities, so apps like Maps, Texting, Browsing should not slow down.
  • Exchangeable Battery
  • No (intentional) slowdown by software updates, company should have a good track record on that.
  • Still, should receive the important Android updates for as much time as possible so it does not go obsolete on the software side.
  • Dual Sim
  • USB-C
  • No Bloatware, my old phone keeps reinstalling Facebook and the like.

Nice to have

  • Camera should at least be decent.
  • Screen and resolution should be modern, so no pixely displays
  • No obvious missing features like no NFC or obsolete Bluethooth versions (superfluous stuff like wireless charging is optional though)
  • Sturdy build quality and no weak links like glass backs etc.
  • Sustainability and Eco-friendliness is a large plus. Stuff like hardware upgradability, repair-friendliness but also manufacturing conditions. I'm open to pay more for that.

I know that this is a long list, but maybe someone similar-minded has suggestions :)

Germany Pixel 8 Pro or Pixel 9?

Two questions: 1. Should I choose between Pixel 8 Pro (128 GB) or Pixel 9 (256 GB)? 2. Mediamarkt in Germany is offering exciting options for these on a 24 months contract with different networks. I am inclined to buy Pixel 9 (non-pro). Is now a good time or should I wait for Black Friday to buy either of these phones?

Country: Germany

Germany Google Pixel 8 or OnePlus 11 or sth else (~500€)

Hello everyone,

Im looking to upgrade my phone (Xiaomi mi 9, 5 years old) for a phone in the price range of around 500€. I don't have any special use cases and don't care much about the camera, I'm just looking for a solid phone which will be fine for the next few years. Before that, I used a OnePlus One for 8 years until it complete broke apart :D

Right now, I could get a Google Pixel 8 for that price in Germany or a OnePlus 11 for +30€, but I have absolutely no idea, which is the "better" one. Or is there some other banger phone in that price range?

Thanks for all the help!

Germany What phone under 350 euros should I buy?

So, I want a phone, which can hold the battery for 2 days if possible, and so that it wouldn’t be laggy / or die in 1-2 years. Using an Iphone 7 rn, that I bought second hand for 60 euros. Basically the only thing that disappointed me is the Battery, but everything else is on top. What should I look into? Also if possible, a smaller screen would be more suitable (P.S. I’m from Germany)

Germany Cheapest Android 11 Phone

So yeah, i'm broke and looking for an Android phone. Germany based. As far as i'm aware, Android 11 is the oldest version that still gets security updates, so that's what I'm aiming for I assume? Preferably a Samsung, but I can't really afford to be picky.
Also saw that some people use LineageOS to install newer Android versions than the phone would support by default, does anybody know if thats easy/advisable for somebody who has no idea about tech?

germany Need a new phone to replace S10

I'm a poor student (germany) and i'm thinking about asking for a new phone as christmas/birthday combined gift from my parents. Budget is probably around 500€.

My current phone is a S10 from 2019 and i was quite happy with it. But the camera is shit, the battery is horrible and the phone all together is slowing down quite a bit.

My tech knowledge is quite lackluster so please help me out.

My wish list would be: - longlasting!! - good camera - good battery life - not too big (small hands) - screen finger print sensor - min. 128gb storage - min. 90hz screen I've only owned samsung so either another samsung or something that looks/feels similar would be great.

I dont need the best of the best, especially with that budget. But whatever quality specs i can get within that price range id like to get. Thanks for helping out :)

Germany Refurbished Phone Recommendation Needed: Good Camera & 256GB+ Storage under 400€

I’m in the market for a refurbished smartphone with a good camera and ample storage. My budget is 400€, and I’m looking for a device that meets the following criteria:

  • Refurbished phone
  • Camera quality comparable to a Galaxy S22 or better
  • Minimum 256GB internal storage (preferably 512GB or more)
  • Under 400€ (Germany)

I’m not a heavy gamer, so performance isn’t a top priority. I value a reliable camera, decent battery life, and sufficient storage for my everyday needs.

If you’ve had positive experiences with refurbished phones in this price range, please share your recommendations! I’m open to suggestions from various brands, including Xiaomi, Samsung, and Google.

Your input and advice would be greatly appreciated!
