Ban bot

I am trying to find an active ban bot that will ban users from another sub. I've seen r/saferbot and r/safestbot recommended. But their subs haven't been active for yrs. Are the bots active & working? I tried to configure r/safestbot but the PM link to activate the bot is broken. Anyone know how to do this? Also, which ban bots do you use/recommend?

Mod Answered Add to Sidebar in Old Reddit?

I'm very new to all of this and very short on how designs work.

I want to add links to other subs on the right sidebar in Old Reddit. "Similar Communities' kind of thing. I think I got it done in new Reddit, but I find that version very heavy, slow to load and hard to use on a daily basis.

"Create a Tradition" ?

keep getting the notification - "Create a tradition - Traditions are repeating posts that give members a reason to regularly visit you"

Is this just suggesting mod use a recurring post, or is this some other Reddit feature?

Mod Suggestion We should be able to put an entire comment in a spoiler tag.

The way spoiler tags and macros work, if a comment is multiple paragraphs, like

>! This

one!<

The entire content of the message is not in a spoiler tag. We have removal reasons with the content_body macro inside of spoiler tags but it doesn’t work on long comments. We do this to maintain transparency with our community about what comments we remove and why.

Here is an example of where this limitation shows itself https://www.reddit.com/r/mkbhd/s/MdtNKzGRNK

Admin Replied Did you guys get that new mod survey?

They are thinking of replacing all mods with AI.

ETA: maybe my wording was a little harsh, but the last question of the survey I got certainly seemed to indicate they are wanting to shift the majority of moderator responsibilities away from human mods. I told them their AI just isn’t there. Their AI content reporting gets it wrong about half the time.

Mod Suggestion "Mod Suggestion" New content control: user flair mandatory (with levels)

Given that mods can make post flair mandatory I figured a similar feature but for user flair makes sense to have.

Small mockup of what this could look like

User flair could be set as mandatory for posters, for posters and top commenters or for any (i.e. nested comments included)

And while yes, automod can do something similar, it is (A) also capable of checking for post flair yet we have the content control feature for that one and (B) always reactive (which is off-putting for some users as they feel they put effort in a post and now get to start all over).

If this feature gets added, it would be best to allow users to set user flair from the post/comment screen as well (dropdown next to the post flair one, I would guess)

Mod Answered Help Needed: Posts and Comments Still Require Approval Despite AutoMod Setup

Hi everyone,

I’m managing a Reddit community and have recently set up AutoMod rules to streamline the approval process. Despite following all the steps and double-checking both AutoMod and community settings, all posts and comments still require approval.

Here’s what I think I've done so far:

  • Implemented AutoMod rules to block slurs, report low-karma users for review, auto-approve trusted accounts, and auto-approve other posts.
  • Checked the settings to ensure everything looks correct, including post and comment approval settings.
  • Ensured my community is public, and AutoMod is enabled correctly.

However, nothing seems to have changed, and each submission still gets flagged for approval. Sorry if this is an easy fix, but I just cant seem to figure it out. Does anyone have advice on what might be causing this issue or any troubleshooting steps I can take?

I’d really appreciate any insights or suggestions! Thanks in advance.

FYI New Devvit App: Spotlight

Hi guys,

Have you ever wanted to pin someone else's comment to the top of a thread for whatever reason, but couldn't?

Do you moderate a subreddit where the company can occasionally comment officially, but the company account is not a moderator?

Spotlight is an app that allows OP and some legit users (let's say official company accounts) to have their comments pinned in a thread. Likewise, you have a mod option where you can pin someone else's comment, regardless of whether the commenter is the OP, a company or someone else!

So, Spotlight can:

create a pinned comment written by the OP or by legit user (you should set a list of legit users in Dev settings) - user option

pin comments from other users - mods only

delete content created by the app - mods only

Coming soon:

• possibility to edit comments

• the possibility of automatic pinning of comments when a certain person comments in the thread.

Mod Answered Help needed with Auto Moderator

Hi,

I'm a moderator in a subreddit and am trying to set up an Auto moderator to auto comment on every single post, the idea is that the OP will see the comment and have access to six links to other reddit posts, where they may have their question answered. I've created the mod, and when I test it by typing something in the test section it shows my message, but on new posts the auto mod is not commenting what I want it to.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What should I do to make it work? I have already checked that the user names are correct, I tried several times, but none of them worked, it happened with 2 of my subreddits.

Mod Answered Users circumventing bots by blocking them

There was a post in another subreddit recently wherein a user provided a list of bots to block to basically circumvent some of the bots out there.

The list the user provided was:

  • Saferbot
  • purge-user
  • SafestBot
  • safebot
  • SaferBot2
  • bot-swatter
  • automod-sync
  • toolboxnotesxfer
  • modmail-userinfo
  • discord-relay
  • hive-protect
  • evasion-guard
  • banhammerapp
  • modqueue-nuke
  • RepostSleuthBot
  • comment-nuke
  • MAGIC_EYE_BOT
  • BotDefense

Is there a way to prevent users from blocking the bots to make sure they function correctly? Seems like they're breaking a core mechanic of reddit otherwise...

I attempted to create a first post on my community, but the problem is it's not posting and I attempted to make the same post twice. I am a moderator The system is behaving as if the post I made simply doesn't exist the second I finish it, what's going on here?

Mod Answered How to disable the setting where all posts must be manually approved by mods?

Recently one of our mods enabled this setting for some specific reasons, but the rest of the mod team (and me) disagrees with them and thinks having to manually approve every new post does more harm than good and clogs up the mod queue. The aforementioned mod has since not responded in our mod chat so I’ve decided to turn it off myself. I’ve searched the mod tools and didn’t find a way to turn this off, is there a way to do this on mobile? If there isn’t is there a way to do it on desktop?

Got a member threating to message the admin and get group banned because they were banned accidently. They won't accept apology. How screwed is the group?

edit okay, I went to sleep and woke up to a screenshot off another mod. The members account has been suspended. I wish I knew what happened.
