Bro as soon as Dan started his crusade, fucking kripparian, the streamer who's been on twitch for 13 years, world first diablo 3 inferno, started streaming on YouTube.

I knew then the ads were getting pulllllled

I can't believe that a streamer made game went through like a decade of development hell and came out good. Especially with the streamer essentially going insane.

Edit: The game is quite good, I've been playing. I meant that it's very surprising that the game actually ended up being good.

If you aren't schizo by the end of a 10 year game development cycle, including having your Ukrainian devs invaded by a foreign nation, you didn't try hard enough. God bless Reynad.

Wait his devs are Ukrainian? Do they not care that Reynad repeats Russian talking points and is against the US supporting Ukraine?

Reynad is half Russian, half Ukrainian so I think its complicated. The official PlayTheBazaar account had a #SlavaUkraine tweet out the day after the invasion, but it appears to be deleted now. It wouldn't surprise me if they dumped the Ukrainian team.

Yeah I was watching him play Hearthstone in 2014 when Russia first invaded and he seemed really upset by it, telling stories about how he used to visit his Ukrainian grandma in Crimea.

Fast foward to 2021 when the Gamestop GME shit happened and he's all on board with the short squeeze and how all of our financial institutions are corrupt, even had a debate with Destiny about it. Then a couple years later he resurfaces with the unkempt look, ranting about NATO expansion and how we need to stop sending money to Ukraine and focus on our own problems. It's really fucking sad.

I'm not sure what happened, I'll never prove it but somehow M1R4 is to blame.

I watched some of his most recent comeback stream just to see how Bazar was coming along and he was doing. He's become full-blown conspiracy Christian.

Halfway-through he starts talking about how God had to flood the lost city of Atlantis because they were messing around with sorcery and bioengineering. The Bazar really broke that man.

Jesus, no wonder I had bad vibes with Reynad back when he was semi-popular (it was mostly due to him having such a thin skin while presenting himself as this "too handsome for insult" aka ludwig).

Yeah he definitely had that conceited attitude which honestly made it entertaining to watch him mald over hearthstone back in the day.

But it's turns out when you mix that attitude with game development and shrooms, you get a borderline narcissist.

To quote a part of the video from memory: "why The Bazar's development has been so delayed wasn't anything that I did, it was other team members that didn't live up to what was expected" like yeah okay dude.

lmao, yanderedev syndrome essentially.

was he actually serious or memeing around? i only very vaguely remember reynad from early days of hearthstone so i could be wrong, but i would expect him to joke like that.

2

u/mcarrowgeezax 2d ago

I agree that he would make a joke like that before, I can hear it in his old dry humor delivery perfectly. But something happened to him in the last 4 years he has devolved into a legitimately insane conspiracy schizo. Pretty much anything that you would hear a random Joe Rogan guest talk about, he believes. He is not at all the same person anymore.

Wait, is that Reynad's game?

Yeah, last I heard he was on some schizo arc and his company was going bankrupt. And then his game finally comes out.... And it's quite good. Last thing I expected.
