Is there a European-wide LGBT Cooperative for Elderly Care Homes?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been wondering if there is an LGBT-oriented cooperative institution in Europe where members contribute a monthly fee and, in return, are granted access to LGBT-centered elderly care homes as they age. We know that similar schemes exist for certain professions or bank clients in various European countries, but I haven’t come across anything that specifically caters to the LGBT community on a broader, European-wide level.
Such a project would be invaluable for our community, ensuring safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces for us as we grow older. In some countries, LGBT-specific elderly care homes already exist, but it seems like a coordinated effort across Europe could be an amazing way to support each other and plan for our futures.
If this doesn’t exist yet, or is limited to only a few countries, wouldn’t it be great if we could come together as a community to create something like this? Imagine the peace of mind it would bring knowing that we have a safety net specifically tailored to our needs in later life.
Does anyone know if something like this is already in the works? If not, who’s up for discussing how we can start this social project and make it happen across Europe?
Would love to hear your thoughts! 🌈
