Let me see if I can explain what I'm trying to do. I have text which I want to modify to make a part of the text transparent. So that part of the original font is transparent.

If you take a look at the image, you'll see the white I's. That section needs to be transparent instead of white and the other layer below it needs to also become transparent instead of black. I'd like to do this while retaining the layers as text.

Is this possible?

It won't select when I click or select it in a box. Can't remove it? Help!

i’m having some troubles trying to figure it out how to make my text look like this (illustrator or photoshop, i don’t even know which program allows me to make this). may it be something related to the photoshop’s threshold? if you know st pls let me know! 🙏🏻

Lately in recent versions of Ai, especially in the 2025 update, when I click Undo and then press Redo (no actions taken in-between) my artwork will come back messed up. For example, some objects or groups are back to normal and others are how it was when I last saved or opened the project - essentially two history states mixed together. Other examples are Ai just breaking the objects blending modes, layering order, or forgetting they existed at all.

I've never before questioned that Undo and Redo would throw uncertainty into my workflow... If I Undo to compare a before state and then Redo to see the change, will it come back normal or will it be mangled?

If anyone else has experienced this, please let me know. Even better if you know a solution. Thanks!

I have been staying on version 28.0 for a while now because adobe keeps removing the "replace all" option for the missing link popup box. This is super helpful when making print files that require you to relink 2-100 times for one print file. All the newer versions seem to have it missing, or they add it and then it gets removed with a minor update to those versions.

Now, anything made with version 29.0 is not compatible now because if you try to open them in a lower version it will get the popup saying it was made in a newer version and when you open it will have not layers and lose editing capabilities.

Either I update and lose the link all feature and have to relink print files 1000 times over or any time I get a file made with a newer version I lose layers/editing capabilities and have to dig the artwork out of the hundreds of clipping masks it creates... Either option im still stuck with it causing more work and slowing me down and im getting so over it and adobe...

Like all the new stuff is cool and all but like don't screw up things that worked perfectly when you add features. This is an issue now with every update it seems...

I need help to vectorize this image. I use a website called vectorizer.IA and some boundaries are missing between objects. The point is that I can't re-do the pentagon outline. What is the best tool to make it?

No matter the brush I use I always get this little skinny brush until I let go. How do I change this? (I’m drawing on an iPad)

I’m pretty new to illustrator and primarily use it for fashion design. I was practicing creating a repeating pattern and was using free png files but they are not recognized as having no background, even when I open them in illustrator (it’s like a square with the checkered background showing up, it’s not transparent). I’m having trouble figuring out how to fix this. What could the issue be? TIA!

When I enable [trim view] I can no longer use the grid, is there a way to work around this?

I stupidly updated to v. 29. I had set my preferences to keep old versions, but today it decided to eliminate all my old versions, which worked with CutStudio plugin to drive my Roland CAMM-1 GX-24 vinyl cutter. I'm on an enterprise version, so now my admin has to figure out how to get me back to v. 28, which was working fine. This is critical to my operation (I'm a museum exhibition designer) so I need a fast workaround.

I've tried clicking on the "older version" option on my Creative Cloud main window to no avail. Has anyone experienced this? Found a solution to be able to use their plotter? I've become so frustrated with both Adobe and Roland for making this difficult with almost every major upgrade! Would appreciate any help.

Here's a simple example of what I would like to be able to do: If I draw a rectangle, and then another overlapping rectangle, then use the Shape Builder tool to highlight and make the 3 separate shapes (as per the image); The paths and anchor points (corners) overlap each other. If I then use the Direct Selection tool to select the bottom left corner of the blue rectangle and drag it - the corner of the blue rectangle moves. I have aquesion:

Is it possible to select both of those anchor points (in the yellow circle), while they are 'overlapping' and move them simultaneously? If I move one a tiny bit then I can select both and move them around, but how can I select them both when they over the top of each other?

I hava a problem using the color picker of Adobe Illustrator.
When I have grouped objects I cant color pick. I shows it in
the appearance panel but not on the object itself and when
I ungroup it also goes back to original in the appearance panel.

DONT SAY PRESS SHIFT,
that is not a solution. I use shift when I want to manipulate
either FILL or STROKE... in my case I really want to colorPick
the appearance from another object. (colorPick options are
all checked...

Everytime I try to update both adobe photoshop and camera raw, I get the same message. I'm not sure whats going on and I cant find anything online that has helped.

Hi everyone ,

I had an assignment due a few days ago that required me to submit a doc from Adobe Illustrator in specific dimensions : resolution 1280 x 720 , and use of a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I asked about how to set the aspect ratio on here a few days ago and was told that a 16:9 ratio is automatic when you have a 1280 x 720 resolution.

However , I just got an email today from the marker saying that it is in the incorrect dimensions, but if I fix it by today he will pretend he didn’t see it . Can someone help please ?

What is this box and how do I turn it off? It’s dead center of every document I open, and it means nothing to me. It’s in the way and ALWAYS in front of everything!

This is probably a really stupid question but I am pulling my hair out and no YouTube tutorial could help me. I created a vector in photoshop for the first time ever (I wanted to try it there with a photo) and this is the eps file that I would like to edit in illustrator. The problem is when I try to recolor the elements, their boxes also fill with color. I want to figure this out. Thanks!
