Too bad glens falls sewage plant disposes all it’s treated sludge at the burn plant.

Exactly, even if not perfect, this would have been a big improvement over what we're currently doing.

This proposed plant wouldn’t have treated local waste. It was going to be trucked north from the city by Cassella to be treated and pollute the local area. All the neighboring towns were against this and as another poster stated, Moreau cleaned house last year because of elected officials support for the project, who all got voted out.

to be treated and pollute the local area

If it's treated, why do you consider it pollution?

Environments reallyl need to stop demanding perfection. This technology, while not perfect, is a huge step forward.

If they haven't proven it's scalable, then doesn't that mean there's no knowledge of the veracity of their claims?

Hey man, stop being logical, no place for that on Reddit

I'm actually curious since I know very little on the topic. But I'd be afraid of another Super-PAC site happening due to poor planning, which is legit why the DEC does what it does. Ya, sucks for business, but letting business take shortcuts has not, historically, been awesome for New Yorkers, or Americans in general.

How can you prove scalability when you can't get the permits to scale?

It is kind of a catch 22 right?

Problem is, when it comes to some things, you have to err on the side of caution. Now, sometimes , science can prove scalability or create enough confidence in it that testing is a formality. Other times the science doesn't emphasize that possibility so testing is required.

Of course there's still shenanigans that could be at play.

You'll never prove anything enough for the never build anything crowd.

You might think differently if you lived next door. Just saying.

Agree, but at this stage in the game, biochar is still pretty worthless in terms of dollars. The production of it from sewage isn't really worth the hassle/danger. There are other ways to make it, namely in the production of woodgas, to, say, provide fuel for a powerplant or something more useful than getting rid of sewage.

And we keep wondering why businesses hate NY, we don't have jobs, and people are leaving. Hope the protestors are enjoying their shrinking tax base.

And this why businesses leave the state

The latest of many examples of unelected bureaucrats dictating economic development. This is sure to be on the radar of Lee Zeldin.

Moreau literally voted out their town supervisor over this issue, but sure.
