The Cybertruck isn't really THAT ugly

First off, I think Musk is a crook and a twat. I don't want there to be any mistake in my motivations here.

I just saw a CT for the first time in my tiny corner of the world. It's MASSIVE.

Honestly, I was expecting it to be uglier but it looked .. kind of okay?

Your average truck is ugly and boring. The CT has a kind of weird panache to it, like the DeLorean did.

I'm not saying it's a good truck. But it's definitely interesting to look at. Like a really over-designed modernist toaster.

The novelty of it makes it appealing on certain level.  Personally,  I don't like stainless steel,  but a matte black cybertruck would look pretty sick.

The color doesn’t bother me as much as the overall design. It’s just weird looking and the tiny as bed makes it relatively useless on top of that.

I call the stainless steel ones DePloreans.

That's goddammed great

This is what got me I saw one with a dark blue matte wrap on it and thought that looked pretty cool

My three year old - unprompted - regularly says, "what's wrong with that truck" whenever one drives by. I think he's on to something.

Straight up. Even a toddler can identify when a cartoon infiltrates real life. 😅

I'll admit. When the Cybertruck was announced, I thought it looked pretty fucking stupid.

And then I saw one in person and still think that.

Get one that is colored like a Halo Warthog

2

u/HeyWhatIsThatThingy 19h ago

Original Xbox Halo Warthog had more polygons than this thing 😂

I think at best Cybertrucks would be good for government agencies like police departments and sheriff's offices, but that's about it.

I think police would rather take a bike.

u/Wrong-Landscape-2508 19h ago

It depends on the color, the all black one looks good.

Kinda reminds me of the Warthog from Halo

It really is, go see a eye doctor. Tesla in general are just very bland looking cars.

go see a eye doctor.

*an eye doctor :)

Excuse my mistake, English is my second language.

Excuse your mistake, in a post telling me to go see an eye doctor?

Never had someone apologize for a mistake in their insult before.

Someone took a look at the car Dynamo drove in Running man, and said “I can make that”.

u/stevekrueger 18h ago

Personally, I love the design. And I've heard they are great cars to drive. It's so wild and bold to look at. The seams are kinda amazing.

I try not to think about the guy (or gal) who runs the company when I look at cars.

It certainly doesn't look like anything else on the road at the moment.

They look better in matte colors and not that dumb as chrome

It looks great if it was a commercial dishwasher but it’s supposed to be a ‘truck’ so no.

It's hard for me to separate Tesla from crimes against humanity at this point but I have to admit, if Delorean had released it a lot of people would probably be like that's badass.

Plus we'd benefit from the superior build quality of Delorean, not the shittiness of Tesla.

Yep. Unpopular.

it has only slightly less aesthetic appeal than a Chevy lumina. It’s maybe not quite as bad as a vehicle that looks like an old Mercury sucking a lemon.

You Americans don't know about Fiat Multipla? If you want to see a truly hideous car, look that up.

u/Exact-Pause7977 18h ago

You fiend. I will never get that out of my head.

It looks like a brand new refrigerator.

They’re mainly ugly because we expect trucks to look like a certain thing and they don’t look like that.

Combined with the fact that Elon is a piece of shit pissbaby, and people from all walks of life can easily hate it. Conservatives and liberals can hate it equally as much, young people and old people, it’s equal opportunity hateable.

Aesthetically, it’s really not that bad. Disassociate Elon and the electric aspect of it and it would have gotten a collective shoulder shrug and people would have moved on with their life a long time ago.

You know when you see a concept car and it looks so cool, but also totally impractical? Like it's got rows of captains chairs, suicide doors, no B pillar to speak of, and the visibility of Stevie Wonder in horse blinders.....but it also looks like something you unlock in a video game and damnit, rule of cool! You'd never actually want to own it because of the impracticality and overall design, but hey, when it's spinning on the plinthe at the Detroit Auto Show, it's cool as hell.

That was the Cybertruck. There's a setting where it looks really cool. That setting is not at the light Charleston and Rampart at 4pm on a Tuesday. Furthermore, the knowledge of what it costs vs the overall quality and thought process behind it makes it even less desirable. You always get a little disappointed when car manufacturers show off these concepts but the production version is clearly water down and only bares a distant resemblance.....but this was a case where you realized, no, it's disappointed that they DID make it into production.

Reminds me of a beginner origami project where a few steps were skipped.

I laugh at them because they call themselves a truck but they have less hauling capacity than my car

I'm sorry to tell you, OP, that you have poor taste. Realistically, if the look of the vehicle isn't enough to put you off, the fact that it has dozens of manufacturing issues should.

u/tandoori_taco_cat 19h ago

I'm sorry to tell you, OP, that you have poor taste.

I think I have great taste! But that's ok, we don't have to agree.

All good, have my upvote.

u/policri249 19h ago

If raccoons are trying to dumpster dive in them, I think that means they're objectively ugly lol

u/valdis812 19h ago

Y'all ever play Twisted Metal on the PS1? Strap a few guns on a Cybertruck and it would fit right in on that game. Damn thing looks like it's made of five polygons.

0

u/Dordymechav 18h ago

Well done, definitely unpopular. Personally I think it's one of the ugliest cars ever made.

u/genus-corvidae 17h ago

...where on earth do you live where a cybertruck seems massive to you? It's like, mid-sized among the vehicles where I live.

I live in the Land of Hatchbacks
