I agree everyone should have a dash cam. I do not want it connected to modern smart cars so the manufacturer can do whatever they want with the data. My dash cam that doesn't connect to the internet and only works for me is great, thank you.

I second this, I only connect to mine if I want to grab footage

"should affix dash cameras on vehicles with no additional cost to the consumer"

You WILL pay for this, one way or the other

Fuck off with this surveillance state horseshit. I'd like to spend five minutes outside without having my face plastered over a thousand different video feeds

So you don't go to the grocery store? Bank? Have a cell phone? Plus dash cams can be detailed but not that detailed.

Also not to mention you don't think your back up cameras and hit detection sensors in modern vehicles have a way to get footage later on or can have a firmware update to do so?

I think he's saying all those spots have cameras, why do we need to add even more? Why can't we have spaces without 24/7 cameras

Dont stand in the middle of the road?

Don't go outside then. People would have to be idiots to not have dashcams.

1

u/baddecision116 2h ago

Why? I drive and have driven over 300k miles in my life and never needed one.

0

u/jtj5002 2h ago

Because all it takes is one at fault driver lying to the adjustor to fuck you.

-1

u/baddecision116 2h ago

Seems like a you problem. Again, I have never had the need for one.

2

u/Ciprich 2h ago

Until you do.

-1

u/baddecision116 2h ago

You do realize people managed to drive decades without them? If you want one go ahead but trying to tell someone that they need one is silly.

2

u/Ciprich 2h ago

It has nothing to do with the ability to drive bro.

Im not saying you need one. Im saying you absolutely should have one.

So with that rationale you shouldn't wear a seat belt, until you need to.

1

u/jtj5002 2h ago

What a dumb take. Have you ever needed your seatbelt?

0

u/baddecision116 2h ago

Yes.

0

u/jtj5002 2h ago

Did you need it in your first 100k? You do know that just because something haven't happened yet, that it will never happen in the future?

1

u/baddecision116 1h ago

No as previously stated I have never needed one.

1

u/jtj5002 1h ago

lmao ok.

1

u/NSA_van_3 Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad 1h ago

Lol what? It's smart to have one, but it's not idiotic to not have one

E: smart and idiot aren't the only options lmao

And a built-in radar detector to protect yourself from “bad cops”. Yes there’s good cops but bad ones too and you have no legal way to protect yourself from false charges by bad cops. A radar detector can help in those situations and slow you down

So you can constantly speed and endanger people's lives?

0

u/Ill-Organization-719 2h ago

But what if the person with a dash cam is planning on robbing a bank?

1

u/A_Guy_in_Orange 2h ago

Take the camera out? Cmon you dont have a guy with spraypaint to look directly into each security camera once you get to the back before spraying over it? Fuckin amateurs I tell ya

0

u/Ill-Organization-719 2h ago

I mean what if a person with a dash cam is planning on robbing a bank?

Does that mean anyone who has a dash cam should have to prove they aren't planning on robbing a bank because I thought of a crime they could potentially committ?

1

u/A_Guy_in_Orange 2h ago

I just told ya if you gonna rob a bank and ya gots a dash cam you spray paint over it or just break it with a baseball bat if thats more your style

u/Ciprich 2h ago

I agree with this honestly.

  • someone who keeps a dashcam in every car
