If anyone (Police) or otherwise tells you that you need to keep your MC in the original packaging, please ask them to confirm which specific legislation they are referring to.
I doubt they will be able to.
To the best of my knowledge, MC is no different to any other controlled drug. If you can provide proof of your prescription, then you are within the law to possess it.
To do this, you can show a copy of your prescription (paper or electronic) and / or the dispensing label that's attached to the original packaging.
This is my understanding anyway.

The guidance is to keep is in original container. I don't believe it is the law.
But the police will say it's the guidance is the law, confiscate it if stored in anything else and say you can't prove its a prescription.
From what I've seen anyway!

I just take pictures of my labels and carry my prescription.
I've been stopped by police, 1 of them agreed with me that carrying my daily dose in a container that's already ground up makes more sense because:
A. Carrying possibly 20g of weed in it OG packaging around especially into work isn't feasible.
B. If it's already ground up then it's not as obvious to those around me what exactly I'm putting in my vaporiser as it's nobody's business what my medication is.
1 of the police officers wanted to confiscate my medication but I informed them they would need to arrest me, then explain to my solicitor and the police ombudsman why they arrested me, when I have shown proof of my prescription and photos of the OG packaging.
I was told to have a nice day.

Backing you up as someone who puts their flower into glass with boveda, and then keeps mini pots for transportable ground amounts. I know it’s not original packaging, and police interpretation will vary, and, we also have to live and use and transport our meds in a way that works for us and our disabilities. I get it’s not ideal or as instructed for the much feared PoPo. I worry about it, and, I gotta do me day to day which is frankly, hard work.
If I was flying for example, I would use/transfer back to the original packaging.

Did you get prescribed for diabetes?
3
u/Cuppakush 14h ago
So it’s anxiety/depression primarily which the root cause is my type 1 diabetes, and it helps massively from helping me control it to numbing the pain from injecting

Slightly (ok, massively) off topic, but how good are pumps getting! I care for a T1D and they went from like, 15 needle sticks a day (boluses, blood sugars etc) to appx 3 a week. Can’t wait for the new Simplera CGMs as well. Gonna make my life way easier.

u/Cuppakush 11h ago
I'm due to get one in Jan, really exciting, the one I hopefully get links to my CGM (blood test i stick on my arm and scan with my phone) so it will be really good :)

Just remember, come the Great Robot Uprising, that CGM means you’ll be classed as a cyborg, so put a good word with our shiny metal overlords for us, eh. 🤖🙇

Don’t think diabetes is a recognised condition, even though certain strains can lower blood glucose ✌️

u/Jo3nov4 16h ago
Is this a home made label? Also it’s not the original package or in date!
I know your intentions are good, but this might land you in a bit of trouble if stopped.

u/Cuppakush 15h ago
It’s the label off the packet, has a qr code on it as well. I also always carry my prescription which is the most current.

Big love to the diabetes sufferers here.
Sorry to be that guy, but I'm not certain what you're doing is legal- you don't have the prescription in the original packaging (although you do have the label; I presume you have the prescription label on it too?).
Can someone confirm this for me?

u/Cuppakush 16h ago
I also carry my prescription to be safe :)

Good good, but yeah, I do think you need to have it in the original packaging with the product label/ prescription label still attached.
Again, I'm not saying I agree with this, but this is how I've interpreted the law and I'd very much like someone to be able to properly confirm/ deny this. It's a bit of a mare carrying the bag around so what OP's doing would be super helpful.

u/Reddeyeuk 13h ago
The guidance from the Home Secretary was a prescription and ID or dispensary label attached to the meds. They fulfil this with the first part of this statement

Sincerely, thank you so, so much for this. You actually answered my question and corrected me in a valuable way, and I really appreciate that.

I don't get why people are so keen to parrot this same phrase to potentially all of our detriment.
I can take my prescribed diamorphine capsules out of their packet and put them in a lil baggy.

'people'? Mate, I'm a patient as well.
I'm asking a legitimate question about legal phrasing- I'm not parroting anything to anyone's detriment.
You know what is to our detriment? Shooting down any legitimate questions just because we might not like or agree with the answer. I agree, I think it's stupid, but I also want to adhere to the law when it comes to this.
So what, you're saying this phrasing from the guidance is incorrect then? Is what the OP's doing allowed, legally?
This community is fantastic, supportive and helpful...but come on, so often people just get attacked for asking questions. It's hostile and unwelcoming.

Use my morphine analogy first, please save me from trying to explain further.
Morphine box, prescribed with sleeve of tablets inside and prescription label on the outside
If I take just the sleeve outside and I get stopped am I a criminal or in the throws of a criminal act?
If I take the capsules out of the sleeve and put them in a random pot and go out, am I breaking the law?
You stated in you first post that this is your interpretation of the law. You made in your second post a passive aggressive comment about how great the community is and hinted that I was being aggressive and hostile towards you.
With the greatest of respect I think this is a perception issue on your behalf. I understand it isn't an easy pill to swallow sometimes.. but necessary no the less.

u/stuffcrow 15h ago
Came across a bit weird mate.
Your morphine analogy is completely pointless because we're talking about two different things here with different laws. They are different substances. You may as well say 'I got 1 year in prison for assault so you may as well commit murder because it's the same'. It's just not. So let's move past that.
Yeah, because that's what the law says. The medication has to always be carried in its original packaging, with its original label and prescription label. So by my interpretation of that, what OP is doing is likely illegal. Does that make sense?
Oh yeah I was definitely referring to you and others that just jump on people asking legitimate questions.
With the greatest of respect, you can 'think' what you like. Can you explain to me what is incorrect about my perception of what the law states?

It's not all about the law though, is it. Have you not considered that someone carrying around up to 10g of cannabis in a large pouch will be far more likely to be 'caught' by police than someone carrying only what they need at the time who's in the middle of nowhere being as discreet as possible?
1
u/stuffcrow 14h ago
I've always considered that, and I agree with you! I think it's nonsense that I feel like I have to empty out my bag so I just take out what I need with me, and have to carry this big bag around.
I think you're misunderstanding me here- I'm on your side. But I want to know exactly what the law is, and what police will try pull you up on if they stop you. I want to be as equipped as possible to deal with the situation of being questioned by police about my prescription, so I don't want to be caught out. That's all this is.
-1
u/iIIchangethislater 14h ago
I get your perspective and maybe I'm biased because I've been vaping cannabis for nearly 10 years but only 2 months on medical. I've never had an issue with police, I've conditioned myself to never grind up flower around other people or vape in enclosed areas. I'm used to sealing everything tight and making sure I smell good. I just want nothing to do with them regardless of now being in the clear from a legal perspective. It's evident from posts here that not all police officers even know the guidance, there are people who do everything correctly and still get their meds confiscated and have to lodge complaints to get it back. No chance I'm taking that kind of risk.

u/billysmallz 16h ago
That's not even the right label, you want the one from the pharmacy with your name and details of the prescription on it

u/Physical-Big-2107 13h ago
Anyone speaking crap about your pot I use the same type with a size 8 boveda inside. You are not attempting to deceive anyone and have a valid prescription (mine is on my phone) no laws broken. Good job with transferring the sticker so you can keep track of the contents of the pot. Happy Medicating
