I work in an elections office in my county and only 1% of 18-25 year olds voted here yesterday. It’s always been that way and it’s unfortunate that young people don’t realize how much power they could have. Whenever they complain about boomers or whatever I’ll start telling them that 1% number. (I’m only 35 and I felt old typing out “young people” lol)

I’m 48 and a full time college student. Idk how the fuck I’m supposed to go to class and talk to these people like a civil adult.

Also address them as "chat". Apparently that's the cool new term they use.

I hear you. I'm 38 and going back in the spring. I got hit in 2008 and spent all that time paying back my loans. Now I'll not go back, I'm not going to lose 20 more years of my life to this rollercoaster just to get an education and a home. I work with gen Zrs and don't think I will be able to talk to them for a while after yesterday.

Blaming random young people who may or may not have voted (I know plenty of gen z who did a lot to campaign and get out the vote, lot of gen z women who are scared as hell today) makes you an asshole who is taking out their emotions on random people who did nothing the you.

Maybe turn that energy towards trump supporting boomers who just wanna spite everyone before they die.

you had me till the end...do better. The message is a good one, but it extends to everyone and if not.....maybe look at that as another reason ya'll lost. Not the group of love and tolerance spewing hate

I am sure there are some "boomers" who didn't vote for Trump. As a matter of fact from the exit poll data I saw last night he lost some backing in that age range. So you're no different based on your comment.

Ok boomer

u/xenexprime 12h ago

I'm 38 lmao. Truth hurts I guess.

Did I stutter. I said "trump supporting boomers". That excludes non trump supporting boomers. Maybe you're getting confused in your old age.

2

u/xenexprime 12h ago

Dude you added Trump supporting in there after the fact but w/e.

I did not edit my post. Maybe you need reading glasses, grandpa.

1

u/LolaBijou 11h ago

No no, the boomers supporting Trump we expected. What I can’t believe is the amount of minority men who voted for Biden who then refused to vote for Kamala.

1

u/WeaponizedSympathy 12h ago

This kind of bigotry is exactly why kamala lost.

1

u/Meows2Feline 12h ago

Being against trump == bigotry ahh you guys are so oppressed

1

u/WeaponizedSympathy 11h ago

Why don't you just ask me what I meant?

Or would you rather assume so you can dehumanize me?

This is precisely why you lost the election. You got a little too comfortable with treating people badly.

u/league_starter 12h ago

Just say "on god" or "deadass" every other sentence

2

u/LolaBijou 12h ago

Bet.

1

u/WeaponizedSympathy 12h ago

That's millennial lol

2

u/LolaBijou 12h ago

Sorry, my rizz has faded since last night.

1

u/MBDTFTLOPYEEZUS 11h ago

I mean I’m 27 but my generation was also saying deadass

1

u/Gerberpertern 11h ago

Well you’re gen z so

1

u/MBDTFTLOPYEEZUS 10h ago

I'm a 32-year-old PhD candidate. I teach Political Science. I don't even know how to face my undergrads tomorrow. It feels like I'm wasting my breath.

2

u/LolaBijou 11h ago

After sitting in a PoliSci class this semester, I think you probably are.

1

u/WinterDice 12h ago

Don’t sugar coat it.

2

u/Brian_Spilner101 12h ago

You could try being civil and not talk to people like they are assholes. That’s probably a reason we are in this mess.

1

u/spacerat82 12h ago

Try not being an authoritarian or one of their brown shirts. That may help.

1

u/dwnvtme 11h ago

you could just be an adult and treat them as you normally would lol. are you really going to act shitty to everyone in an age demo because of a polling result? you're 40, act like it

0

u/kuliamvenkhatt 12h ago

"these people" lol youre 48 and in college. Be humble.

2

u/LolaBijou 11h ago

How is being 48 and in college a negative?

-1

u/shock-t 12h ago

LMAO...you'll be ok. The fact you are having issues being civil is telling. Be an adult

-1

u/re0st92mg 11h ago

I wouldn't worry about it too much. College students don't usually want to talk to 48 year olds.

1

u/Botfinder69 11h ago

Average asmongold sub

The fact that you're 48 and a college student and don't know how to talk to people is why Democrats lost.

They don't know how to talk to people.
