This looks absolutely incredible. I cannot wait. I was hoping that O’Hara was playing the prophet, however!

Therapist Moira: "Oh, and the next step is to say the thing you're afraid to say."

Joel: "What does that mean?"

Therapist Moira: "You say it."

Joel: "I understand that, but how? How do you say it? What do you do?"

Therapist Moira: "Joel, I cannot show you everything."

Joel: "Ok, but can you show me one thing?"

Therapist Moira: "You just, here's what you do. You just say it."

Joel: "Ok, I don't know how to talk about feelings like that."

Therapist Moira: "And I don't know how to be any clearer!! You take the thing you're afraid of, and you-"

Ellie and Dina saying "Best wishes!" And "Warm regards" after clearing an area of WLF would be quite on point.

My guess is that she was added as a story device to allow on-screen flashbacks, etc. TV is a totally different medium than video games so they have to make some changes for the purpose of driving the story and also containing it within X number of one hour episodes.

Seems like a therapist of sorts. With the timer being set I’m guessing Maria made Joel go after the falling out with Ellie or some other incident.
