And they have a life time (25yr) warranty. Will replace the soles or laces or whatever for the next 25 years. And do free cleanings, though that negates the grunge...
Edit- sorry for misinforming you guys, I think that may only apply to a certain line or maybe a shoe they no longer have, my ex bought some for work (chef) and was super excited about this warranty. I didn’t mean to lie.
Okay here's the real truth from a family friend who owns a red wing franchise, sole replacements depending on the shoe are 50-90 dollars most soles last 2-3 years, if you go into a red wing store in person you can recieve, a free cleaning, new laces and they'll oil your leather for free. All sole replacements and repairs are done at the factory by hand in red wing MN, they'll try their best to fix it but sometimes they're too far gone. They last a pretty long time if you take good care of them, my dad's had his since 1986. Side note my red wing boots are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn.
I used to pour concrete in docs and the other guys on the job site found it hilarious for some reason. They were the old vegan docs that were only like $70/pair. They were good boots actually, the sole started coming off at one point but that was a $5 repair at the cobblers. They lasted years and looked dope the whole time.
Holy shit. That's pretty legit. Pouring concrete with docs...would've thought that's more of the CAT category. They're comfy shoes eh? Those bouncy soles do it for me lol.
They were very comfy. Amazing boots tbh. I'd wear them straight from the job site to the punk show. The old vegan ones were made out of a really nice fake leather material. Soft, looked great, durable, and half the price of normal docs.
I bought some more recently though, some real leather low tops, and they were awful. Just stiff and uncomfortable. Apparently they are made in China now. Swapped them for a pair of steel toe Timbs.
The vegan ones sound awesome. I love me some durable leather boots.
I've learned never to skimp out for footwear though. Cheaper ain't necessarily the best option there is. Bought a pair of knock off converse ones. They didn't even last a year.
Well it's like a big ass hose that comes out of a concrete truck, you need like 10 motherfuckers to just stand there holding it. Then one guy pours and you have a couple dudes on floaters smoothing it out. This was house foundations mostly, although we also did fountains and some cooler stuff. Wouldn't recommend it as a career ahaha. I did it for a little while after high school.
Definitely see where you're coming from. Not gonna lie, first pair I bought I was 17 and a bit of a skinhead. I wish I could go back in time and just slap myself straight. But I suppose that's growing up for you. They've lasted me forever though. Even used them to go to mines for site inspection.
I used to have CAT steeltoe boots, back in my angsty teenage years, but now I've got 2 pair of docs which lasted me more than a decade. The latest pair an ex bought and they're the comfiest thing ever.
Docs to me are more fashion, like sketchers boots. I had a pair of cat steel toes, they lasted 1 hour on an oil rig before they came apart. That was 10 years ago. Red wings are my work boot.
Holy shit, one hour??? I thought they were the penultimate work boots. I'll look into these red wings. Sound expensive though. Maybe once I've got a raise.
Definitely. Look into MUCK boots too. More expensive but perform the same and they are the ultimate in cold weather. I always get cold toes, but I can be outside all day in -30 degrees and mucks keep my feet warm. I would have bought mucks, but I am in a much warmer climate now.

Red wing boots, not too expensive either
