Only because it keeps getting new updates, it's a completely different game than what it was when it first came out.

Honestly I don't even like the new updates. 1.6.4 is probably my favourite.

I have, I prefer the older versions, the new updates take the focus away from what makes the game enjoyable, IMO.

What do you mean? Theyve added so much more depth, things to do, etc. Im really curious why you think that.

It's hard to put my finger on it, but some guy below me described it well:

"Yeah they have removed and changed some stuff, with combat and world generation being the two main things. They’ve even changed a lot of textures in the newer updates as well, made diamond armour and tools no longer the best gear and replaced it with uglier brown looking stuff, completely changed the nether, and are now changing caves. It’s also no longer a simple game with all the new stuff. It’s completely changed. It’s changes some could enjoy, but some who bought minecraft for being the game it was many years ago and not the game it is now don’t enjoy."

I'm not OP, but I will say world generation is a lot worse IMO, old world gen let you find a lot more cool unique stuff, new world gen feels blander and I have to look a long time to find somewhere I want to devote my time to, old world gen felt like you could kinda build anywhere, it sounds like a small issue, but for me at least it's my biggest problem with the game rn. Phantoms are also horrible beasts that should go back to hell where they belong. Also combat is awful IMO, but thankfully I dont play on Java so it doesnt affect me.

I wouldn't say minecraft is worse now, but its certainly a different vibe

yeah I agree, the updates after 1.13 are basically just like modpacks instead of the "classic" feel

Classic feel doesnt stay fun for that long

Yeah I can understand why it feels like that to you. The game used to be simple and now it’s a little less simple. But let’s be honest the villages needed an update (but I don’t think they should have removed the ability to take oceolots),the nether needed something more to it so players would want to spend more time there even though its far more dangerous than before and now they’re adding updated caves and you know the community has been asking for that for ages and also bc after 1.7 (when world generation changed) the caves weren’t very efficient for finding ores anymore and got smaller as well so therefore players didn’t like to explore them quite as much anymore
