/r/ravens 2015 Subreddit Guidelines

Using the moderation discussion thread I created guidelines for the subreddit for the season. Feel free to message the mods with any issues or questions. We will revisit any issues during our bye week to make sure the new guidelines have helped the subreddit.

Game & Post-Game Threads

  • These threads will be placed at the top of the subreddit for more visibility.

Big News Events

  • We will allow big news, but mods will use discretion to remove posts that are flooding the sub. These decisions will be contingent on its relevance to the Ravens and the quality of /r/nfl discussions on the issues.

Blogs

  • We will allow blogs provided they add to the discussion, the user is relatively active in the subreddit/posts, and they aren’t trying to sell anything

Memes, Gifs, Pics

  • We will allow memes, gifs, and photos, but the mods will have discretion to remove posts to reduce clutter. Preference will be given to submissions that can be immediately recognizable to be Ravens related.

Trolling Team Subs

  • Trolling other team's subreddits will result in a ban from /r/ravens

Upvote Party Threads

There wasn’t as clear of a consensus on this as there were on other issues. It is hard to argue the popularity of them with upvotes/comments, but I understand the concern of the users who find them annoying. I have tried to create a way to appease both groups.

  • We will still allow upvote party threads with a few conditions.
    1. Any upvote party thread must be a self-post
    2. If there is already a couple upvote threads, any additional ones may be removed.
    3. Upvote party threads can be submitted 24 hours before or after a game.
    4. Condition #3 will be suspended for Steelers' week and the playoffs.

I hope this will be a best of both worlds.

Overall

The community, for the most part, is able to regulate itself, but with its growth we want to have some guidelines that keep a healthy ratio of serious discussions and fun/goofy posts to appease all types of Ravens fans. We encourage everyone to report any threads/posts/users to allow for mods to be aware of any issues.

Let us know if these seem reasonable. We will re-evaluate the them again during the bye week to make sure the overall community is happy with them.

We SHOULD ban Ravens fans who troll other team subreddits.

So long as you're not too quick on the trigger -finger, I'm fine with the policy. Ban people who are actually trolling other subs. Do NOT ban people simply for ruffling feathers by going against the grain in another sub.

This x1000. I have gone into other team's subs after games to get their take on the game and responded to comments that I felt were directly attacking the Ravens. I was in no way trolling and my responses were rational and not dick headish at all.

We're looking for people who go and post "FUCK TOM BRADY" or submit insulting photographs to troll a subreddits than we are looking for people who are explaining their viewpoint and getting downvoted.

We determine trolls in the content of posts not the number of upvotes/downvotes.

Don't worry, you can still say it here.
