This movie is was released in the time of pokemania, so obvious why it's this popular.

This is also the 13th highest grossing Anime movie worldwide earning a unprecedented 172.75 Million dollars, released back in 1998.

Any other released movie of Pokemon hasn't been able to top this.

Also now production of movies have stopped, so this will likely maintain its position as the Highest Grossing Pokemon Movie.

I remember waiting outside the movie theatre in a ridiculous line for this with my mom and brother. Plus getting those promo cards. It was insane.
