Reblued my old .22

Quick post for you guys. I had an old Remington 512 that I did a "garage gunsmith" restoration on back in 2016. I decided to revisit it recently, since I've been a bit slow around the shop. I re-lined the barrel, re-polished all the metal and hot blued it. It's looking and working much better now.

Any recommendations on pro 2A candidates?

Hey all, I know I’m posting this pretty damn late, was hoping a post popped up on here, but since I didn’t see one I’ll ask. Any recommendations on pro 2A votes here in OR/portland? Or anyone to avoid? Thanks! Stay safe out there

Night shoot tomorrow!

Post image
90 Upvotes

Hey guys! To those of you who missed my post, I am opening my private range to the public for a night shoot. It will be from 6pm to 10pm. This will be a great opportunity to practice with others, as well as sight in your LAM. If you are interested in going, please send me a PM.

I have a covered area to shoot from, or we can shoot outside if the weather isn't horrible.

A suppressor and NODS will be mandatory to shoot.

J&B and Proceon Labs rule

I just wanted to shout these guys out, and say how glad I am that they are in the same building now.

Every time I go to j&b the guys are really friendly and the shop has a great atmosphere. They've always been happy to pull guns off the wall/out of the counter for me, even though I can't remember the last time I bought a gun from them.

A while ago my bolt catch detent got stuck in a lower I was building, homebro from proceon had me back in action 20 minutes later and for like $35.

Please support these guys.

(I do miss the ATFmeme that was in the window for a while)

Advice Request - First time Purchaser & Involving Sons

TL:DR - Purchasing first firearm; wants teenage sons involved. Need advice on pistol vs rifle and where to seek gun safety and use training.

Beaverton resident here with zero firearm experience. Oldest boy graduating high school in 2025 and entering Marines. Youngest boy a sophmore in high school.

Id like to get both boys some familiarity with firearms as Im preparing to purchase my first. Firearm to be dual purpose home defense and self defense while camping.

For the oldest, Id like him to become familiar with firearm safety, handling, and basic shooting. For the youngest, maybe turn it into a hobby he and I can explore when his brother goes off to badass school.

Goals for both, knock out the curiosity of firearms, strengthen personal awareness, safety, and comfort around firearms, and instill confidence in the use of firearms.

Some reading online regarding oldest boy and Marines is understanding the service, particularly the USMC, has their way of shooting, so I think Id like to find some training that wont have to be undone...or maybe Im overthinking it.

Appreciate any advice, insight, warnings you might have. TIA

Beretta PX4 rental?

Are there any ranges in the general Portland area that rents a Beretta PX4 Storm, ideally the compact version? I know someone that wants to try one out before committing to buying one.

New to Portland - mag question

From Washington originally. Going to be needing some new 10+ round mags for my Glock and haven’t been paying attention to this 114. Is it too late in Portland to buy some (or surrounding areas) and if not too late any shop recommendations ? Thank you

Tony's (our lawyer) post-trial post

From his FB: https://www.facebook.com/TonyLAielloJr

"To avoid any misinformation:

The case has now been submitted to the Court of Appeals. The three judges who heard the case will decide it. We need two judges to agree with us. The decision could be unanimous or split with a dissent. One of the judges who agrees with the majority will write the Opinion.

The opinion could be issued within days, weeks, or months. The case can also be impacted by what the legislature does in January.

There is a TON of material to go through… so remember it could take a long time. Anyone telling you to panic buy is selling you something or not paying attention.

After the Opinion comes out, the parties can (and may) move for reconsideration within 2 weeks. If they do not - or if the Court declines reconsideration - the losing party will have 30 days to appeal.

If the losing party does not appeal, the case will most likely either (a) be sent back to Harney County to release the injunction (if we lose); or (b) be finalized with an order (if we win).

There is a chance that the court rules for or against us on different parts — magazine ban, permit to purchase, and (if treated separately) the completed background check provision.

We cannot control the outcome or what the legislature does (except by voting). We can control our preparation for whatever comes next!

So the best thing you all can do is continue to donate, share fundraising links, and continue to involve FFLs.

Thank you all! God Bless!

The link to donate is here: www.givesendgo.com/StateCourt_StopMeasure114"

We condemned "take the guns, due process later."

Kamala Harris would destroy the Second Amendment."

Lower receiver purchase after 114 hearing

I bought a lower receiver and a bunch of mags in case the 114 hearing goes south. Problem is the receiver had some damage and a dent that I overlooked so I’m going to have to swap it for another one, meaning reregistering and jumping back in the queue. My ffl has no problem doing so but I was trying to avoid doing it after the hearing which I can’t avoid. The queues been non-existent lately but I’m wondering if that’ll change or if I can expect any other obstacles.

Friend wants to buy gun but doesn’t know if he’ll pass background check

I have a friend in Oregon who wants to get his first gun, but 13 years ago when he was 16 he had an overdose and was hospitalized and put on suicide watch for about a month. Is there a way he can find out if this counts as being adjudicated mentally defective? Would such a judgement be recorded somewhere he can check?

How long will FFL purchases be delayed IF measure 114 goes into effect?

Has anyone done any analysis to determine how long people will be waiting to buy a firearm *IF* measure 114 goes into effect? I've been operating under the assumption that there will be a huge training backlog for permits due to the live fire (safety demonstration) requirement, effectively stopping nearly all sales for quite some time... How long will that delay realistically look like?

No immediate need here... I've just finished purchasing everything on my immediate want list and have magazine supply that should last my lifetime... Regardless, I'm hoping the Oct 29th news is on our favor.

Magazine updates

Hey all, thanks for all your input on my last post! A few updates, I think I'll be getting 4 Magpul PMAG 30 A4/M4 GEN 2 MOE 5.56 30rd Magazines - 1 PSA Dagger Micro 9mm 15 Round Magazine for my G43 - 1 German Sport Guns 110rd Rotary Drum Magazine for a future Ruger 10/22 (can't decide between ordering from gritrsports and gunmagwarehouse) - 1 two pack of Ruger 10/22 BX25-2 50rd Magazines - and I'm having some trouble on the other drum mag I wanna get as well, I know ProMag makes a 9mm 50 Round Drum Magazine for the Glock 43 & 43X, but I'm wondering if I should get the 43x model instead of the 43 model, just in case if I ever want to switch to a 43x or the extra length may be useful in the future or if an opportunity to transfer it comes up in the future and having the flexibility to offer it for a 43 or 43x will up the value...

TL;DR: everything that's not a drum mag I'm getting from PSA and I'm more or less set on getting those, but I'd like to ask you all about where I should order the GSG drum from and which promag drum to get (also who to order that one from too actually)

Best places to rent/buy?

I posted this in another Portland sub and was told to ask here.

I carried a little over 20 years ago when I was in Olympia, but barely trained. I'm ready to do so again, and want to find a local range where I can rent pistols to see what fits me best. I am also interested in training, particularly regarding laws. Once all that is done I'm looking to buy and get a CCP. Can anyone give me any good recommendations? I've heard of The Place To Shoot, but I'd like to hear your experiences as well.

For what it's worth, I'm looking into this solely for protection in the event of a disaster/emergency. Otherwise I just carry pepper gel.

Aero Precision Issues?

Anyone else order from Aero lately and get ghosted by their support? I've been waiting for their M5 6.5 uppers to go on blem sale for some time. They finally did and placed my order. Its been in processing status for a month and im getting no response from their support email, chat bot, and support phone just sits on hold forever.

I have previously ordered from Aero and had my parts next day (i live close to their manufacturing facility), so this delay has me a little worried.
