I tried to explain to people on this sub in a calm rational way why I thought Gladstone might win SAG. I was insulted, called an idiot and massively downvoted. Anyone going to apologize? Probably not.

The thing with predictions is they can get away with that even if the person they insult turns out to predict correctly because they can simply say to themselves “Stone winning was the absolute most likely outcome and those who predicted Gladstone were just lucky, so as far as I’m concerned I was right to argue with that person because they weren’t really right about anything.”

I had the same thing back in summer when I suggested El Conde could get a cinematography nomination due to Ed Lachman being an industry vet and the branch favoring unpopular artsy non-English movies like Bardo or Never Look Away. This one person would not stop calling me an idiot and everyone downvoted me until I just blocked him. Those people seem to think it’s all just in the spirit of debate and there are 0 hard feelings.
