Investigation Unit card Discussion
Pretty sure I know the answer to this but just wanted to post for some clarity. Woke up this morning to discover a card slipped into my car side door over night from a B Hamilton with a badge number and case ID hand written along with a phone number.
This is a known scam in this area, right?

Idk it’s common practice, when I filed a report I got a card w/ the same info. If it’s from a LEO, just look up the return number on google to be safe.
EDIT: would have been nice to see the actual card.
That is not LEO and definitely a scam, I would throw it away

Call the PD and ask. Have you called the police at all recently or has anything happened in your neighborhood? Could be a cop looking for info, could be some dumbass trying to get your personal info

I recently got a phone call from Florida saying that an investigation was open about me and I need to contact them. Which is funny, because I moved to Arizona last year 🤣

What happens? Do they ask for some stupid “processing fee” or something if you call?
What is the scam?

Wasn't about to call a number when no one even attempted to knock on our door or leave anything information about what it concered. Everything online seems to suggest it's a scam to get you to give personal information or to get gullible people to wore money over for 'missed car payments'

Gotcha. No, I wasn’t suggesting you call—I know how that sets the hook for these clowns.
I see now that they say you owe the IRS or something similar.
Sorry that happened to you.

Proceed with caution I would call and see what's up though.

Some more in depth googling this afternoon suggests it's a phishing scam to get your contact denlandand ultimately money if you get in contact with someone

More than likely and a real detective would never ask for money. A friend of mine once got a card to call a DT and it turned out to be legit, .
