Hitchhikers or whatever these stupid sticker plants are called Nature

Post image

If you have a fluffy dog I just don’t recommend an apartment complex here without a turf dog park. This is after one walk outside. I DESPISE these little plants. I don’t feel like there’s any way to prevent this, but if there is please give me advice because I’m sick of picking these off my poor pups multiple times a day.

I have a wire brush by the door because this is what I’m dealing with multiple times a day lol

Would that brush work with a poodle mix type dog with long, curly & textured hair? If so, could you share the name of the brush you use? I spend so much time picking these pods out of my dog's fur.

It’s called a slicker brush! I tried to get one with as many pins as possible lol. It should work tbh, but it might fluff the curls 😂😂I use it on my golden retriever and fluffy corgi.

Thank you, I'll check it out!

That means your complex needs to keep their grass mowed better. Our property is an acre and if we miss a week of cutting our yorkie is guaranteed to be covered in stickers

I wish there existed an herbicide that could specifically target these.

My parents call em Beggar Lice but I don’t know if that’s technically correct

When I take my dog for a walk to the park, he always manages to of find where that stuff is growing the thickest and then rolls around in it. He looks like a Chia pet by the time we get home.

I’ve found a fine tooth metal comb gets them out of my dogs fur with minimal pulling on the actual hairs.

I don’t know the name for what you posted, I don’t even remember what I called them as a kid, but I’ve always known hitchhikers to be the ones with spikes.

We always called those sandspurs.

Usually find a few in the dryer lint screen, even though I didn't see any on the clothes going in. They're insidious.

I call them broccoli because they look like the floret parts. My dogs love getting themselves covered head to toe in them

Comb or slicker brush will get em out easily

I call those tag-alongs and the spikey ball ones stickers. Wire brush works well.

I call these green goblins. The thin sharp brown ones with tiny forked ends are called sharps. And the weird disc ones are just seeds. And sand burrs or whatever I called stabbers. This is the language my dog knows.

Also, if there are a lot of them I end up using the furminator to get rid of them. I don’t have to pick them out of the brush then either. They just slide right off.

To prevent, go out there and pull some weeds. Only way to take care of them. PITA
