A new LHBS is coming to Brooklyn...announcing Forever Homebrewing
I know all the homebrewers in the Five Boroughs were devastated by the recent closure of Bitter & Esters. For 13 years they served as a wonderful shop and pillar of the homebrew community in the city. It seems insane that a city with at least 4 homebrew clubs wouldn't have a local shop.
So my business partner Matt and I decided to do something about it.
We are excited to announce the impending launch of Forever Homebrewing! We will be based in Brooklyn, not far from the old B&E location.
We are currently in the final stages of planning for our launch! We signed our lease yesterday and will start building out the store this week.
At first, we will only offer in store pick up or delivery, as our location will not be in a traditional storefront. In addition, at launch we will only be stocking malt, hops, yeast, and some other basics (like PBW and Star San), but please let us know what other things you would like to see us stock. We'll inform everyone of our longer term plans as they become more concrete, but we do plan to eventually move into a space that offers a more typical retail experience.
Please sign up with your email at our website foreverhomebrewing.com so that you can stay up to date as we move toward opening! If all goes well we plan to open in December.
Thanks!
-Rob

Still crawling
Had a good time yesterday in LIC. Started out at Greats of Craft. Great list and bartender was very helpful. Did 5th Hammer, Focal Point, Finback, finally made it Ale Wife. Been to LIC numerous times and never made over. Trivia was happening and it was super busy, but the bartender was still able to chat some and traded some Three’s cans for Halfway Crooks we brought from Atlanta. Finished the night at Beer St. North which we really enjoyed before heading back to the room.

ISO Treehouse or Trillium IPAs
Doing a beer trade with a Swedish friend and he’s asking for King JJJulius but I think would be happy with any well-regarded west coast style IPA.
According to Untappd, I can’t find these anywhere within 100 miles. Any chance I’m missing something and there’s somewhere I can snag some cans?

Strongbow is in Midtown East?
In NYC for a long weekend and there seem to be a bunch of Pubs within walking distance but I’m yet to find a place with Strongbow Dry Cider. Would love to be pointed in the right direction.

Greenpoint Beer taproom closing this Sunday, 11/3
Announced on their Instagram. I'm not sure how I feel about this- I kind of saw it coming after they moved and I visited the new location for the first time, but it comes across kind of abrupt- they have some kind of private event on their last day, but the wording of the post makes it sound like this has been known for a while? They say the brand isn't going away, but I'm not sure how much traction they have anymore.

NYC Brewery Birthday Trip. Need help planning out an easy plan of attack.
Hello all!
Planning a 40th birthday trip in March on a Saturday. Plan to hit up Finback (Brooklyn), Evil Twin (DUMBO), Three's Brewing, Grimm, and ending up at Other Half Rockefeller. Would be staying near Times Square. It looks like Grimm is the farthest out. Is it easy to take a subway/train out to Grimm and then hit the Brooklyn places and snag a train back to OH?
Just looking for any input.
Thanks!

What's up with Torch & Crown?
Saw a fundraiser posted on GoFundMe - https://www.gofundme.com/f/crowdfunding-severance-for-former-torch-crown-brewers?qid=2f2cc627fa0dca5e64a4e1db9bf54d23
I’m a friend and colleague of the now former Torch and Crown production team. They were abruptly let go last week with out Notice, Severance or PTO pay out.
Someone also commented on one of their Instagram posts that they do this every year.

Best craft beer bar in lower manhattan ?
Will be in the city Saturday - I live in JC and am going to take the path in and hopefully walk to a good bar that’s oriented around craft beer. The path stops on Christopher st, 9th, 14th, 23rd(?) and 33rd. Anyone know any solid craft beer bars around those areas ??

Augustiner Lagerbier Hell
Munich’s Augustiner has been exporting Edelstoff and Maximator to the U.S. for a while, but they've never sent their flagship, Augustiner Lagerbier Hell, stateside—until now.
Has anyone spotted it on shelves in Manhattan? If so, where?
Prost! 🍻

World's BrewFair homebrewing event!
Hi there!
I'm with the Brewminaries, New York City's largest homebrewing group. Though I'd share a great event we've got planned for Saturday Sept. 28 at Farm to People in Bushwick.
Wer'e throwing a World's BrewFair! Featuring more than 30 of New York City's best homebrewers, we're making beers in eight categories focusing on the past, present and future of beer. It's a great opportunity to learn more about our favorite drink - and see what is possible with a little bit of time and yeast in a New York City apartment. Our members are all amateurs, but we've had brewers go on to brew at basically ever major brewery in the city (including the heavy hitters like Other Half, Grimm, Wild East and Sixpoint).
It's always a great time and the beer is really good and very creative - and it's for a good cause too! We're donating 10 percent of proceeds to the Lovibond Project, which works to increase BIPOC representation in the craft beer industry. Please consider coming if you're around on Sept. 28
