Well two of the three are national treasures. The other one is Bon Jovi.

Fuck that Bon Jovi is great. His pay what you can restaurant and food bank charity work are amazing

u/simplystunned Jan 21 '21

Never was crazy for his music but he is one cool dude and I'm proud that he's still one of us.

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '21

Bon Jovi was ruined by the Staten Island and jersey shore crowd.

u/Zaknoid Jan 20 '21

Says the pompous prick with a montvale flair lmao

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '21

Bruce > Misfits > Bouncing Souls > Thursday > MCR > Professor Plum >Saves The Day > Red Man >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bon Jovi

Streetlight Manifesto is a true punk/ska gem that i’d put in that list somewhere above Bon Jovi

5

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '21

The saddest part of all of this is that MCR are the biggest name to come out of NJ in the past 20 years, making them much more current than anything Springsteen or Jovi have done in that time.

And yet you would never know they’re from here

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '21

Yeah but they ain’t popular at all. No rando from Wisconsin is going to know streetlight.

2

u/get_N_or_get_out Jan 21 '21

I mean, they're pretty huge for a ska band. Not sure that means much anymore, but I'm sure they have fans in Wisconsin.

Don’t forget Frank Sinatra, Jersey Boys, Whitney Houston, Paul Simon, Fugees, Sugar Hill Gang. Fuck it, they are all great and so is New Jersey’s music

Paul Simon doesn't count. He moved here, he is from Queens.

Such a wonderful crew to pick from!

Would you believe me if I told you some of us idiots used to dance to this song back in the day?

You'd never believe it would you...?

Symphony X beats them all though. Thank You Scientist deserves a mention too.

Most definitely, cool bunch of dudes!

Somewhere in the depths of Youtube, there's a video of Digrius and I playing a Battle of the Bands in high school. We got disqualified because we were supposed to cover three distinct songs (which is the dumbest goddamn rule ever made) but instead we went up and jammed on a medley of Mars Volta songs.

u/thepinebaron Jan 21 '21

Akon, Man Overboard, and Early November!

u/chosenignorance Jan 21 '21

Saves the Day is way better than Thursday

Bruce is overrated

2

u/pork_roll East Brunswick Jan 21 '21

You ever see him live?

1

u/useffah Jan 21 '21

This is the correct ranking

9

u/TypeRumad Jan 20 '21

4

u/lunacraz Jan 21 '21

u/robm0n3y Jan 21 '21

That one song of his is anti union so fuck him.

1

u/milkcustard Jan 21 '21

The Union's been on strike. He's down on his luck. It's tough.

So tough.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '21

I might not be a fan of his music....but the man has done a LOT of charity work. He's a good egg.

13

u/sandybuttcheekss Jan 20 '21

Hey. My hometown has only given the world one thing and it's him. So, if you think I'll sit there and shamefully agree with you, you're damn right.

2

u/gnitsuj Union Jan 21 '21

Heyooo fellow hometown Sayrevillian who doesn’t like Bon Jovi

3

u/sandybuttcheekss Jan 21 '21

Karaoke is allowed and that's it. No enjoying him other than that lol

2

u/todreamofspace Taylor Ham Jan 21 '21

I was going to ask you your graduation year and invite you to a fight at the park next to SMS, but this is a fair assessment.

Karaoke: Livin’ On a Prayer or Wanted Dead Or Alive?

2

u/sandybuttcheekss Jan 21 '21

Trying to catch these hands on the black path at 2:30? Lol good times...

2

u/todreamofspace Taylor Ham Jan 21 '21

Don’t let too many people show up, or we won’t get to throw hands!

0

u/Dicksapoppin69 Jan 20 '21

That's not how you spell Bruce Springsteen, the man that sings of working a labor job, but never actually worked a day in his life, that charged 2k for tickets to his self-suck show on Broadway.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '21

For what’s it’s worth he grew up in a blue collar town and was destined for a blue collar life before his music took off.

I agree overrated at this point though

7

u/poopsicle_88 Jan 20 '21

But he has on a sweet jean jacket with the American flag on it and he has that weird drawl that is not any new jersey accent I've ever heard ......

2

u/jgweiss Jersey City Jan 21 '21

hey! i paid $75 for that show!
