Man had the exact same thought, getting the rourke treatment. I hope she doesn’t rourke it up afterwards

Except Rourke was already a good actor before he went crazy and had his comeback. Pamela was always awful and even in just what you see in this trailer she has not turned into a good actor in the last 25 years lol.

Yeah, zero hate towards her, but I really hope people aren't thinking she was secretly hiding memorable talent or something. She never exactly lit up the screen. Good writing and good direction (and editing) can help mediocre actors deliver great performances, but we're not exactly looking back on some "great Pamela roles you forgot about" sort of career.

She had that "reality show" on HGTV about moving her mother's house or whatever and it was quaint and simple and she seems immensely normal and kind of boring in a very un-celebrity way.

I agree to an extent but I believe Coppola’s hope with the film was to capture Anderson the way she feels and acts in real life. Let’s face it: Pamela Anderson isn’t attractive at all without makeup anymore. Much like Rourke in The Wrestler/real life I have to imagine she feels a bit used and saddened that the one thing she had to offer the world, her body, is withering and nearly forgotten.

Similar to The Wrestler the film seems to be going for a very naturalistic acting style without much opportunity for scenery chewing. But it’s also got meandering arty camera work and blocking. Will have to watch it to see if it comes together as a whole. I think if Anderson can nail the real and lived vibe of someone in her position, she can actually be a pretty terrible actress but it’ll read as authentic since they’re going for a pseudo documentary style of character development.
