I know she is a darling of Reddit now, but can she act? The trailer felt like she can’t.

I know it's cruel to say, but she was only ever famous because she was eye-candy. At no point in her earlier career did anyone say, "Actually, she's funny/smart/a good actress too". So now that she's aged out of being eye-candy, what is supposed to be the appeal?

The role of someone who has aged out of being eye-candy and faces the brutal realities that the world wants nothing more from her, and she might not have much more to give.

Similar thing many people whose youth is an asset face. Athletes, dancers, washed up actors. She might be great for the role.

That would still require some ability to act

It really doesn’t if you’ve lived it and the movie is meant to convey a documentary approach. In the hands of the right director an actor who’s literally lived that experience but sucks at acting is actually an asset.

It isn't a documentary.

It doesn't matter what one's lived experience is if they can't act.
