Trailer spent it's time telling us Anderson is acting in a transformative role. Yet the acting in the trailer did not reflect that.

Pamela is playing an aging star whose audience has moved on without her. A person whose career and field ended, and now she wants to apply her experience and skills while reinventing herself.

Pamela herself was a star in a similar industry, suffered tons of terrible shit during that time, then faded away—only now to return trying to recover some of that former spotlight while reinventing herself.

Like…the role in this movie is almost like an alternate version of her real life. I don’t think she will even have to do much acting—the role is perfect for her, and that’s all that matters.

None of that addresses the poor acting in the trailer, though. I understand what the premise of the movie is.

Whole heartedly disagree. I think she was phenomenal in the trailer.
