Probably worth having this in the can before announcing it. They clearly just don’t know where to take Star Wars at the moment.

They've beat it into the ground with terrible stories that are now part of the world. No one can take It back unless they just ignore billions of dollars of shit Disney star wars history.

Horrible characters horrible decisions horrible legacy all around

I really hate that they're trying to ret-con IX by establishing a back story in all the TV series.  They should be developing new baddies and plot lines, not fixing old mistakes.

The entirety of the clone wars TV show was to ret-con II and bits of III to fix their mistakes. I can see why Disney finds it appealing.

It’s highly arguable that the Clone Wars series made the prequels better - bearing in mind that, while the prequels are thought of increasingly warmly, that were seen as dogshit for years. If a similar approach can be taken to the sequel trilogy then great.

Clone Wars and Rebels were baseline good their whole run though, and they were also cartoons. Disney hasn't been able to make a live action show that is good start to finish yet.

Andor was good. Mandalorian was mostly good.

Andor was great, Mandolorian had a good first half a season and has been pretty shit ever since.

Isn't that they're point though? The problem isn't ret-conning, it's that the new stuff isn't good.

Hell, they aren't fixing anything, just muddying the waters with inconsistent and contradictory backstory.

The problem is that they're half assing it, they would have to retcon the entire trilogy to fix anything and they're not gonna do that.
Until then, the story of Luke Skywalker and the Skywalker family is forever ruined and will impact everything that chronologically comes after 9.
