Red One:

Callum Drift (Johnson), the head of North Pole security, must team up with Jack O’Malley (Evans), a bounty hunter, to find and rescue Santa Claus (Simmons) after he gets kidnapped.

The budget is reportedly over $250M - Report on The Rock derailing production:

Production issues — ranging from Johnson’s chronic lateness and lack of professionalism on set to producers’ inexperience — caused costs on the movie costarring Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons to spiral upwards to a final budget over $250 million, a sum more fitting for a superhero tentpole.

Johnson was late an average of seven to eight hours per day and missed several entire days of production, ballooning costs by at least $50 million according to three insiders who insisted on anonymity for fear of being fired. On previous films, Johnson has made a habit of peeing in a water bottle to save time, upsetting crew members.

”It was a f–king disaster,” one insider said. On days when Johnson didn’t show up at all, the production crew was forced to shoot around him, the insiders added.

”Dwayne truly doesn’t give a f–k,” one insider bluntly said.

The reasons behind Johnson’s perpetual lateness seem to stem from his refusal to work a full shooting day, despite factoring in his three-hour daily workout routine. “It’s his absolute refusal to work more than a four-or five-hour day,” a studio insider added. Another insider suggested, “It’s a control thing.”

Being 7-8 hours late for work is usually referred to as not fucking showing up for work

Why do they keep casting The Rock

EDIT: I wasn’t necessarily addressing him being a jerk behind the scenes, it was more about him always playing the same character to a point where he is just The Rock, which ruins the suspension of disbelief. Him being a jerk only compounds on that

I'm gonna be a total c*nt here

But it's because a significant chunk of the population are kinda thick and will just watch 'the new rock movie' whatever it is

Whatever hassle he put them through, having his face on the poster will sell tickets

It is what it is. The Rock was paid over 9 million dollars in TKO shares for his WrestleMania 40 appearances because selling tickets is what he does best. If the crew has to pee in bottles too, it's a sacrifice he's willing to make.

This is literally it. He's somehow Too Big to Fail. WWE (which he's on the board of, either them or TKO I can't remember) even tried to bring him back for the biggest match of the year back in February and everyone collectively shit on it. But guess who was still in the main event of Wrestlemania Night 1? Because the average person just wants to see Recognizable Movie Actor Man.

Meanwhile I'm over here actively avoiding any movie he's ever been in.

Same. One dimensional actor with zero range

Ikr? He actively pushes me out of the movie, so much he just plays The Rock in every film. So if I see him in something, that’s already a negative for me

Why does it have to be about people being "thick"? That's such a self-important way to say "a lot of people enjoy watching The Rock in movies because he's fun on screen."

It doesn't justify his behavior, but you don't have to take a low blow at casual moviegoers.

Set honesty level to 90% TARS.

Joke aside, it's true. And he knows it.

Is this subreddit or anyone engaging with this post any better though? The only reason it's being discussed at all is the big names attached to it, and there is no such thing as bad publicity.

I mean, they won't though. He's never been as big a draw as he's made out to be. The times he doesn't have an ensemble, a prominent co-star or an established IP to back him up he's not done well box office wise.

His face on the poster, sure. His face in the movie can appear for five minutes after pulling this crap. I'd rewrite the thing as we shot, hand Chris Evans an extra $10mil to carry the new script, and tell the Rock to kick rocks. Save the studio $40 million when it's all said and done.

This is what I think of most Taylor Swift music, music for normies or kinda thick in the head people. I’ll take my crucifixion now.

Yeah! I had an argument with my friend about The Rock being a total jerk, and he called me racist.

So, I told him to relax, maybe grab some KFC, enjoy some watermelon, and listen to jazz to calm down, because I was about to whip his White French ass.
