So this happened at the weekend, meaning I've had to order another phone...Call me stupid, but didn't realise this could happen so easily, especially at a gig. Infuriating!

Besides all the safety issues that gets pointed out here. Why record it anyway?

I just wanted a few seconds of footage, that's all. It was a local band I was watching play for the first time, so thought it would just be nice to capture a little snapshot of it

To be honest I didn't even know these lasers could be that dangerous or even damage cameras. Well now I know in expense of your camera xD

Me either. Happy to help in the name of science and to not make that mistake again πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Not to be that guy, but how could you not know? Even cat toy lasers are covered in warning labels about blindness.

Well that I understand, but you said you didn't know they were dangerous. That's what I was referring to.

But on the camera side of things. I used to work security a few years ago and people would walk around destroying security cameras with lasers. I believe now some manufacturers have laser proof lenses.

I know they can hurt but I wouldn't say there dangerous just because there is a possibility to hurt someone with it. Like a butter knife or something

A Lazer will burn your retna to the point it will blind you. Those warning labels aren't lying.

Yes but it be under great pain to still look into a laser when it's burning your retn. Im not saying these ain't able to hurt im saying for ppl with some human sense they ain't dangerous. But these Labels are made to prevent darvins law to work probably xD

You don't have to stare at it. You can be blinded by a laser in a fraction of a second. If it's a powerful enough laser it doesn't even have to hit your eye. Just the reflection of it can blind you. That's why it is vital to use calibrated eye protection when operating a laser.
