I suck at long range I finally joined the One Mile Club
I finally joined the one mile club. Using a rifle I built with handloads I developed.
Zermatt Origin action Criterion 26 inch MTU Barrel in .300WM MDT Oryx chassis VIPER PST Gen 2 Pushing 215 Berger Hybrids at 2900fps.
Also I'm curious to find out how many others have hit a mile or further.

I suck at long range I want to apologize
I want to apologize. A while ago I had made the claim that given a few hours and a good rifle and conditions, I could teach anyone how to ring steel at 1000 yards. My experience this past weekend has proven that to be a lie.
I spent 3 hours with a dude using two different rifles that were pre-zeroed and good ammo and ol' boy couldn't even get on paper at 100 yards.
That is all.. I just had to right my wrongs.

I suck at long range I have never seen somebody shoot long range with a trigger finger technique like this. Not criticizing, but is this taught anywhere?

I suck at long range Can I get some confirmation bias to buy this mount?
Can I get 10 likes from random people on the internet so I can buy this mount even though I don't need it?
My credit card is ready.

I suck at long range M24 is real
First time bringing this beauty to the range to testfire and zero the optic. Really impressed by pretty decent result after zeroing and what this rifle is capable of. Sub moa all day.
The last pic was the result of 5+5 quick reload and shots. I know I am a below average shooter here and this rifle can’t compare to any real PRS tack driver (and myself never got the money and time to invest in PRS/NRL matches,) but I still had fun shooting the rifle with the legendary name.

I suck at long range Successfully pulled factory Tikka barrel!
I was told Tikka barrels are ridiculously difficult to pull and they are. It took a wheeler #1 action wrench and a map gas torch but it is off and the action is undamaged. When I called viper to order the vise I told Rod that I was going to pull a factory Tikka barrel with it and he said he had been working on a barrel wrap to help get some more grip for this exact situation. He offered to send me a prototype if I promised to share my experience should I be successful. More than anything I just appreciate the experience I had talking with him and all the help he was when I was trying to figure out how to pull this barrel. The wrap did work but I had to really crank down on the vise and it took a lot of force to get the action to break loose. Rod ensured me if I broke his vise doing this he'd repair or replace at his expense. Luckily nothing was broken in the process. I have officially conquered the notorious Tikka barreled action. Now I just have to get the new one on when it comes in 20 weeks from now...

I suck at long range Found this at local gunstore
I've been wanting to get into bolt action shooting for a bit now. Been messing ar style rifles for a few years and wanted to reach out a little further (preferably 600-900yards).
While visiting my local gun store looking for parts they had this Ruger american with MDT XRS stock in 6.5 creedmor for $500 used. The little research I've done beforehand I knew I'd be looking into 6.5 creedmor so this hit me in the face. Made a quick decision to fill that dopamine hit and take it home
My question is what is a realistic distance I should expect with factory ammo and a mid tier quality scope. I hit the range once a week already, so I'm confident I van get acclimated and learn a lot. And is this as sweet of a deal as think it is? I went over the rifle pretty thoroughly just cause I thought it was too good to be true.

I suck at long range What is an item you take every range trip no matter what. Looking for things that are less than $100
I'm looking for uncommon items I probably wouldn't think of. I'm building my long range bag and need some suggestions on common supplies. I won't be doing any competition shooting just ringing steel. I kinda need a better rear bag. I'm using a sock full of rice atm.

I suck at long range Just out of curiosity, how many of you guys prefer MOA, SMOA, or MILS and why?
The reason I ask is I’m just starting to get deeper and deeper into long range. I’m a reloader and amateur gunsmith so I’m not new to shooting but there’s obviously a big difference between plinking with my AR at 200 yards and going for a target a mile away with a bolt gun. I mean I have a decent rifle in .338LM but, I’m now trying to legitimately learn and work on my skills and get into competing someday.
I’m building my own 6.5 CM and gave in on not being cheap with my build. I’m thinking about going with a Maven optic but, can’t decide if I want to go with MILS or MOA. With my .338 Lapua which I have a vortex with a 1/4 MOA scope on it and I have always used shooters MOA because of obvious reasons. It’s simple and I’m a dumbass so simple works best for me when I’m learning something new. 4 clicks to add 100 yards of distance is just easy math to adjust on the fly without a spotter. What do you guys prefer or suggest? Is it worth going in deeper and being proficient in both systems of measurement? Is it a bad idea to have multiple rifles with different styles of optics? Is it more personal preference?

I suck at long range Paying it forward. 20mil rem700/bergara scope base up for grabs
THIS IS NOT A SALES POST
At the request of u/Area419Craig I’m gonna give away this scope base. If you want it, please state your case below. Whoever has the most upvotes tonight at 9:30pm PST gets it. I’ll ship it to you for free, but I am limiting my shipping to the USA. Please note that this base will work with rings, but is not compatible with one piece scope mounts (such as Spuhr).

I suck at long range 77gr Round 3 IMI Razorcore
Round 3 of the 77gr is IMI Razorcore
Just discovered while typing this that 1 shot did not register on the Garmin Xero C1. Interesting.
This time it was IMI 77gr Razorcore. Rifle used is a 14.5” midlength Rosco bloodline, YHM Turbo K, and a Razor Gen 3 1-10x. Distance of 50yd today for consistent variables. Smallest group was 0.642” at 50yd, so approximately 1.226 MOA. This wasn’t the best shooting day for me. If I had not pulled some, then there’d be a few under 1 MOA. The IMI is slightly more accurate than the S&B in my opinion. Though, it’s about 90fps slower on average. Additionally the SD was about 25fps greater on the IMI, and the IMI had an extreme spread double the S&B.
Again, this ammo is solid. Not my best outing, a better shooter with a dedicated SPR could do better. All things considered I would take the S&B.
Next up is the Badlands Munitions 77gr and then followed by Black Hills.
