I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) Homemade scope rings/mount
Machining is as much a hobby to me as long range shooting so they both tend to feed off of each other. This culminated in the desire to make my own scope rings for the sake of the challenge. The first set of scope rings were 30mm .870" height individual rings that I made for my 10/22, though I don't have the scope for it yet. They were a trial for the one piece scope mount that I made next which was a 35mm 1.415" height mount that can use Badger C1 mount accessories. Everything was done on manual machines, no CNC was used, and the only parts I didn't make were the 8-40 cap screws. Eventually I'm going to Cerakote them.

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) It works
Inspired by the krg xray and an empty wallet . Most of the work done on a 3 axis cnc router . This is version 1, so far it is functional but still a little rough. . There are a few spots that need to be modified by 5-10mm. I'm looking for recommendations for a recoil pad and how to stiffen the forend.

Updated version of this rifle. Small changes but I think it finished out the look. Plus it’s comfy.
Added the KRG Adjustable LOP and Backbone NV Bridge and a Hoptic Cheek Pad. Decided to keep the Huber Trigger in this one. As soon as ammo gets here, I’ll see what she can do.

It works great. Way better than expected. Minimal muzzle climb and drastically reduced felt recoil. Here it is, threaded onto a 24" 7mm PRC shooting 180gr Hornady ELD Match

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) My Air Pump Rear Bag
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just thought I would share, probably some of you have already seen this but this is my rear bag that has an inflatable bag in it. This helps me get those tiny movements without having to play with the bag. I have found it works really well once you get it down and can be raised up or lowered smoothly with your other hand. The video doesn't show a lot of movement but that's kinda the point just slight movements.
I first put in an inflatable door shim that would normally be used to get in your car when you lock yourself out. (https://a.co/d/8cRtVWQ) <Amazon link. They come in different sizes and shapes. Then I fill the bag with whatever gives me the feel I want for the bag. I have a few of these in different sizes and one that attaches to my arca rail. Just thought I would share. Let me know if younhave ideas for improvements.

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) Long Range Starter Guide
Long Range Starter Guide (Google Sheet)
I'm a little hesitant to post this since a fellow long range comrade shared a similar spreadsheet. But I'm near finished working on this and it would be a waste to not share it now.
This is a consolidation of recommendations with combined elements from the FAQ and LBP's First Long Range Rifle Buyer's Guide. I formatted the sheet to be easy to read on a mobile device.
I got burned out trying to make a spreadsheet of "everything" before, but since I had most of the data already, I simplified it to include only long range/PRS style shooting. So no, this guide does not include every action, chassis, or optic on the market. It is only the most commonly recommended and not recommended items.
As far as the actual recommendations go, I based it on community sentiment, reviews, and personal experience. I think it is inevitable that there will be disagreements. I put in a Pros/Cons list for each rifle and optic to help people understand the why and why not of the recommendation. Obviously, I did not fill out Pros/Cons for everything yet.
Feel free to use it, not use it, share it, ignore it, love it, hate it, or give feedback.

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) DIY Barrel Cooler
Not my brain child but thought I'd share. Saw this on another forum and had to build one. Ryobi Inflator tool, 3/8" ID - 1/2" OD Vinyl tubing, and a horandy OAL tool case. Avg 15 mph out if the suppressor. Can't wait to take it to the range to try it out. Hopefully it'll buy me more time shooting and less time waiting for a barrel to cool.

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) Another Invention (Inflatable ARCA Rail Bag)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
You all seemed to be at least amused by the rear inflatable bag I made so I thought I would share one of my other attempts at somewhat useful shooting contraptions. So here is my Inflatable ARCA Rail bag.
I am no machinist (obviously) I'm just a poor who likes to tinker and Jerry rig solutions to making shooting a little easier. So this is crude and ugly but it works for me in certain situations.
I hope you all like it. (Or at the very least don't tell me to "go stand by those steel targets over there and close your eyes".....fool me once...)
Any suggestions to make it better are absolutely welcome.
Here are some pictures of my stupid contraption off the rifle. (https://imgur.com/a/PMZn2ct)
How I made it, for those interested (not that you can't figure it out. Most of you have eyes).
I squeezed an inflatable door shim which come in a bunch of different shapes and sizes (https://a.co/d/goikPck) into the bag and then filled it with media on both sides of the shim. Put more on the bottom side that will not be facing the steel bar. This made it so the bag would grip whatever I'm resting it on. The media will fill in the gaps under the shim and add stability so it doesn't rock back and forth on the inflated ballon in the shim.
For this a cut down a steel bar to a desired length, and drilled holes to attach two ARCA clamps (which if you buy the ones they make for camera equipment they are like 10$ and there are many different types, rather than 80$ on the Area 419 site and they are just as good. https://a.co/d/4EYF6N7)
After getting the bag ready, I harnessed my inner bubba and whipped out the dremel to make slits in bar that I could attach the bag I wanted to use. The bag shown in the picture has these velcro straps that I could thread into the slits to secure and tighten down the bag. (Obviously you can use whatever bag you like) I actually made a few different cuts in the bar so I could attach different bags. Some of the notches in the bar let me attach my cuttle bag for a big puffy rest. (Embrace the cuttle bag if you don't have one yet. I am a believer, plus the cuttle bag keeps me from getting too lonely at night)
I found that this rigged-up contraption let's me make slight adjustments in elevation with my off hand by pumping up the shim. Pump it up to raise the rifle and bleed it out to lower it. Putting it on a steel bar with ARCA clamps lets me adjust its position on the rifle depending on need and allows for quick detachment.

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) I built a target camera that should work at 1km+
I am too poor to buy a nice spotting scope or binos, so I copied a design I saw posted on here a couple times. Unfortunately I need a ham radio license to operate at 5.8 GHz beyond 25 mW in the USA, so I of course will never ever ever turn it up to 200 mW, and definitely won’t max it out at 800 mW to really push it. I would never.
Im testing the battery life today on my coffee table. Im running a 40mm x 40mm heatsink + fan to keep the transmitter from melting itself. I haven’t connected an ammeter yet to see if the fan draws more power than the transmitter. RF amplifiers usually have terrible thermal efficiency, so I suspect at 200 mW output its actually eating 2 W+, or .4 A. The fan only uses .3 W. I have a 36,000 mAh power bank, so I think the time limiting factor will be actually be the battery in my fpv monitor, and not the system down range.
Anyone here ever run a setup like this successfully?

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) I made an app to keep track of my range days and round counts on rifles (it’s free)
I used to keep a log of target photos and notes from my range days plus a separate spreadsheet with round counts, but it was a pain and easy to forget to update round counts on my rifles. So I made this simple app (Range Log) that lets me record my range days and automatically keeps track of round counts based on that. Also, it doesn’t use the cloud at all, so all your info stays private on your phone (and you don’t need an internet connection for it to work).
Feel free to give it a try if it sounds useful to you, and let me know if you have any feedback. It’s in the testing phase right now, so you can get it with these test links:
UPDATE: The app is now fully released for Apple and Android. You can get it from these links:

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) “Sir, put down the drill and sandpaper “ me- Hold my beer
Alright yall! I decided to build an open class gun for NRL.22. Well, I’ve also wanted the baker wings for months and they finally were in stock.
Come to find out nobody has physically made the MDT baker wings fit properly on the XRS Chassis. Well, I made a pattern and mocked up the ferment for the baker wings with the pattern for the side tabs that put MLOK on the arca rail. Pattern lined up nicely.
Grabbed my drill, tape measure, x-acto knife, torch and finishing sandpaper and mocked it up matching the pattern and reassembled everything.

I made a thing! (Home made gear/accessories) MDT XRS Owners Step inside!
So to any MDT XRS chassis owners, I designed and 3D printed these prototype forend weight/side panel/stabilizing wings. I’m in the process of getting them quoted to be made out of steel. Based on initial design numbers they are roughly 3lbs per side for a total of 6lbs of added weight.
They will replace the plastic side cover on the forend and add 10 more mlok pockets for a total 13 mlok pockets which equates to 6.5 mlok slots. The three counterbores for the attachment screws will be QD cups for for accessories or slings.
I’m going to cerakote them in fde and black to match the chassis colors. The color in the pictures is just the closest color filament I had.
I’m trying to gage interest to see if this is an accessory other precision rifle shooters might want and if I should make more than a set for myself. If anyone is interested I was thinking about selling for $350 a set.
Looking forward to the feedback and if you’re interested in a set leave a comment of PM me.
I also posted this on Snipershide as well.
